Jason Brown

Jason is returning to The Impossible Dream for his FS.

Thank you sweet baby Jesus and the wee donkey too:hap10:. Tarzan was just not ready for prime time, IMO.

That's a surprise, but he clearly wasn't ready to do the Tarzan choreo. That program probably needs a couple of months to get competition ready and he hasn't had a couple of months. I hope he can do the Dream perfectly and score well. Honestly, that program means a lot to Jason. I don't think he related to Tarzan the same way. His short program is personal. Tarzan wasn't. Too bad! I confess that I had my concerns about Tarzan. If he's named to the World's Team, maybe he can get it ready by then. But maybe it just didn't resonate.

Just watched Jason's practice session. Wow. I know I am extremely prejudiced but there is just no one that is as polished as he is. He did the complete run through of his short program and didn't leave anything out. It was absolutely perfect except a slight bobble on the landing in his combination. (or as that utterly annoying Tara would say - it would affect his GOE) A couple of the other men might have quads but Jason's presentation is gold!

Agreed! He skated full out for the audience and the audience's eyes were glued to him and applauded loudly when he finished and when he left the ice at the end of practice. If there is an audience, Jason will give them his best. For the first practice, he looked very polished. The combo was underrotated and he needs that perfect, but by prime time, I suspect that it will be.

I noticed that Tracy was watching him carefully with a serious expression on her face and that they talked extensively at the boards. They will be examining the details. What Jason is trying to do would be considered impossible for most skaters. But he looks like he's in good shape and should be able to handle this well.

Sounds like you are there.. if so, have a wonderful time! If possible post updates.🥰

Nope, watching on Peacock. Would have loved to go but couldn't manage it. But the upside is that I've watched Jason's practice 3 times already. They gave him a lot of camera time, so I could see the interchange with Tracy and glimpsed him at the boards while they others were skating. I glimpsed the afternoon practice which took place while Pairs Short was happening. Jason's group skated, but he was not there. They were at the Ice Haus. I'm hoping that he was in the main arena watching Danny and Ellie skate.

Thanks for the heads up.. caught a bit of Jason’s practice before leaving for work this morning but will definitely do catch up tonight with pleasure.. now I know what to look for🤗

Only Jason could make a skate with a botched 3A seem perfect.

Not a huge fan of Benjamin Clementine, but how I love all the details of the program, Jason and Rohene make me love the music. :)

And how it did my heart good to see how the crowd loved him. :love2:

The crowd's reaction to him from introduction to the last spin was incredible. I do not like the music one bit but it didn't matter. He was still quintessential Jason. I just re-watched Impossible Dream from Worlds last year and I am crying, it was so good.
Cannot wait for Sunday to see it again. Jason will be skating for his fans and himself and we will see where the chips will fall.

Of course I gasped when he landed on his butt on his 3A and was sad that he didn't break 90, but the rest of the skate was pretty much perfect. He didn't skip a beat once he got up from the fall. And he's sitting in 3rd. That's not bad. He's keeping the pressure on the rest of the field with his component scores and his stellar skating. He's doing this with minimal training and skating 100 shows last year. Who else could do this? It should be impossible. But with Jason, it's not. Skating for an audience is what fuels him. And that audience gave him lots of love. I'll be a nervous wreck leading up to the free skate, which feels back to normal. But he's teaching the younger generation of skaters the importance of the component scores as well as clean high level spins, footwork and clean jumps whether they are triples or quads. He's just amazing! And seeing the work that Ilia has put into his component scores is a testament to what Jason brings to skating and keeps bringing to skating.

With ISU being ISU, skaters who unite excellence in skating with moral integrity/sports ethics, are bound to be insulted like Jason Brown is by the scores, particularly the Components scores. I hope that he can bear it, as well as the continued insolence of pets.

Jason's Peacock interview with Jackie Wong and Gracie Gold after the practice today was so adorable. He talked about why they went back to Impossible Dream. Basically he says Rohene kept wanting to tweak it and adjust it and he and Jason decided in December that he just wasn't ready to compete it yet. He's hopeful to go back to it in the future and do it justice.

The interview was great, and Jason's telling of the story of Tarzan shows that he has modified at least some of his people pleasing ways.

Rohene was not happy with essentially the "dumbing down" that Jason needed; it weakened the "integrity". Jason said he told Rohene, "You don't understand, this is all I can do. I can't do more than this", in typical animated Jason fashion.

Gracie telling Jason to "Go radiate joy" was also a highlight.

That photo of Grant and Charlotte is adorable!

There's also this reel of Jason borrowing his grandfather's walker for his workout with his pilates instructor.

Grant and Caroline's daughter Charlotte is beyond adorable. How lovely that they came to Columbus to see Uncle J skate!
