Jason Brown

TMC would be thrilled!

Yes you're right - it's 9/24-27, so it overlaps with Nebelhorn one day.

He could do one of SLC or Lombardia, and one of Canada or Nepala. Or if he doesn't care about the back to back, any one of the above + Finlandia. Autumn Classic makes sense as a second comp because it's closer to home and he's got Skate Canada, though it's not the same rink.

Guess we'll see!

I am praying he will come to Lombardia or Nepela. Preferably Lombardia, which is much closer and easier for me to go to, but realistically speaking I think he will go to International Classics, which is so close to where he trains, plus he would want to throw in a competition in US because he won't be doing SA this year. I wouldn't rule out Nepela though, he has done back to back B's last year, and Skate America & Graz also just a week apart 2 years ago. Fingers crossed ...

Has this been posted yet? Another fancam of the LP, from a closer viewpoint:

Even more footwork detail. Just lovely.

Oh!!! I am flattered by the credit :luv17: Whoever filmed it did an impressive job for an amateur, even better than some of the professionals I dare say. It is fantastic to have a close look on the details of his moves!!

Great video! This is the first thing I've watched from GF. My first thought in viewing this is that it makes my back hurt just watching. Hope Jason & his team are taking really good care of his health. I loved seeing the 4S attempt but I'm still not a fan of the music and have doubts it will grow on me. Have to hope that Jason's performances will help me deal with it. I wish he would wear the white shirt from his short a year ago for these early skates. At least it would be something different. :)

OK, crazy idea, but since some have doubts still about "Hamilton"....

What about this version of "The Room Where it Happened", sung solo by Leslie Odom Jr., the original Aaron Burr. (Fancam of a live performance, but good quality. Leslie does about 50 seconds of intro, but it's cute, before the song).

The rapping, to my ear, is much more musical (I don't understand a word, he could be rapping about the Peloponnesian War, sounds much less "expository" to me). And I love the combo behind him, again, it just sounds more musical than the original.

Just a thought....

I've found videos of both programs (fancams by snowice) but they are unlisted on youtube and the link was provided on twitter by @hiroko_0221:

The SP video is the first I recall that shows the actual beginning of the program and that little bit of intro helps to make the opening vocals not so jarring.

I wondered when the videos would be available on icenetwork so I checked yesterday. In past years they have been posted between August 6-9 so the videos should be available within a week.

It's important to have that beginning. Thank you!

Question. In the beautiful close-up video of the LP, any guesses as to what will go in at around 3:35 when Jason stumbles? There's a real crescendo to the music there.

The IN "quality videos" of Glacier Falls are posted (H/t to @ice coverage for the head's up). Here is the entire men's SP:

http://web.icenetwork.com/video/v1683199383/?event=2017_glacier_falls_summer_classic

"Hamilton" starts at roughly 19:20. My video is blurry on fullscreen, I don't know if that's for everyone, but I can actually hear the music. And see the moves. I see what Jason (and Rohene) is trying to do, maybe possibly...

Hmmmm. Opinions?

(Men's LP is also posted, thumbnails underneath on link(

I am shaking with excitement. I have deliberately held back from any fancams of the FS, because I was waiting for these...I can't wait to get home and watch them.

Thanks for the info el henry!

For anyone looking to watch just Jason, his videos are available individually:

I really appreciate having higher quality videos with no obstructions and screaming fans and the videos aren't blurry at all for me. The angle is different from the previous videos I've watched so it's interesting to see the programs from another viewpoint.

Thanks, these videos are great! I especially enjoyed the SP. So many choreographic elements jumped out at me that I hadn't noticed before! If Jason can master the footwork, this has the potential to be an awesome program.

I didn't really get anything new out of the LP video, even though it shows another angle. I think I had watched the other close-up video so many times over the past couple of days that I have this one memorized.

Thank you so much for the HQ links, I can finally stop squinting! :thank:

Ok current verdict.
SP - still not sold on it. I think everything with 2nd spin, onward works more than fine for me. It is the first part that I'm having trouble with. The music isn't really my fave but I have enjoyed programs even in those cases before so I'd say that I think Jason needs more edge in this part. It's not quite syncing for me. It's especially a problem as I have no connection to Hamilton as many, being outside of the US, so I think he'll really need to sell it properly to have the right impact.
FS - yes, I love this one. The music is fab, it's building on last season and there's a single nit-pick I have which is the IB into HB. I think holding the IB for such a short time doesn't really go with the music at this point, a longer would work better for me, but eh, love it.

I am not sure what to think about the quads. The 4S seems like a <<. In general I wish he could at this point at least rotate them, even if he goes down. Fingers crossed. Another thing for the FS, he was out of stamina by the end there, but that at least is easily fixed, and we're still in early August. Overall I think by the time things click, and they hopefully will, he'll have a good vehicle for Nats.

FS - *gushes uncontrollably* this is SO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL OMG IT'S LIKE A JASON GREATEST HITS NUMBER, it takes every single thing I love about his skating and weaves it together, it's like the ultimate Riverdance and Piano mashup of awesome.

SP - that opening music cut. *cringes so hard she nearly falls off the chair* Just...god...cut it properly. Please. And please make it less ambiguous as to which character you're being. Are you really Hamilton showing his skeevy political side? Or are you really Burr realising what he wants and that he needs to really go for it? (This program would work a whole lot better as Burr from that perspective). Which is why I really think they actually need to start with the Two Virginians and an immigrant walk into a room part because that's also from Burr's POV. Coming in halfway through the awkward Hamilton/Burr exchange at the start just throws me and the section where Burr confronts Hamilton about "selling New York City down the river" just...doesn't quite fit?

Do I need to be subscribed to view the Ice Network video???? They wouldn't play... :tantrum:

No you just need an account, I think there's some kind of wonky thing happening though, I had to download and play them in Firefox.

I was actually able to play them on my iPhone using the Photon browser - not recommended unless you're desperate as it's choppy (I'm out of town).

OK, just silly fluff until we get more real news, or more real footage:

A TV station in SF has posted "Figure Skating 101" (for people like me:biggrin: ) and they have a "use in a sentence" feature. They mention very few actual skaters, but Jason is one:

"Step sequence

A choreographed series of steps in sync with the music, performed across the ice in straight, circular or serpentine movements to demonstrate a skater’s precision and agility. Also known as “footwork.”

USE IN A SENTENCE: “Fans really fell in love with Jason Brown’s step sequence during his ‘Riverdance’ program at the Sochi Olympics.”

(The Shibs and twizzles are the only other skaters I saw mentioned briefly).

A thirty second interview with Jason, who is definitely rocking the manbun rather than the pony this year:

www.11alive.com/sports/olympics/fig...-to-make-team-usa-for-2018-olympics/462907487

Even Jason's doppelgänger, Larry Loupolover, was rocking the manbun rather than a pony at the Philly comp this past weekend. Not to mention he wore a backward baseball cap during the men's FS warmup. Jason's influence is everywhere:laugh:

More off season fluff ...

Jason is the headliner at Sun Valley this weekend. Last year he performed Writing's on the Wall & Canned Heat and the video was posted on Icenetwork. Will he repeat those programs this year or does he have new exhibitions to reveal? Maybe he will do a TES lite version of The Room where It happens?

Does anyone plan to attend?

Wow, a new exhibition with the other choreo, I can't imagine. TES lite of Hamilton would be cool.

Costumes would be cool too, but based on my one and only August skating watching experience, I wouldn't hold out hope:laugh:
