Jason Brown

yah! cant wait someone please that's going post and tell us all who cant attend how it was love Jason!:hap10:

OK, just silly fluff until we get more real news, or more real footage:

A TV station in SF has posted "Figure Skating 101" (for people like me:biggrin: ) and they have a "use in a sentence" feature. They mention very few actual skaters, but Jason is one:

"Step sequence

A choreographed series of steps in sync with the music, performed across the ice in straight, circular or serpentine movements to demonstrate a skater’s precision and agility. Also known as “footwork.”

USE IN A SENTENCE: “Fans really fell in love with Jason Brown’s step sequence during his ‘Riverdance’ program at the Sochi Olympics.”

(The Shibs and twizzles are the only other skaters I saw mentioned briefly).

A thirty second interview with Jason, who is definitely rocking the manbun rather than the pony this year:

www.11alive.com/sports/olympics/fig...-to-make-team-usa-for-2018-olympics/462907487

Even Jason's doppelgänger, Larry Loupolover, was rocking the manbun rather than a pony at the Philly comp this past weekend. Not to mention he wore a backward baseball cap during the men's FS warmup. Jason's influence is everywhere:laugh:

Huh. So Jason just retweeted the clip from News11 you posted above.

From what I can tell News11 is the NBC affiliate in Atlanta, but the female anchor reminds of a Denver reporter who interviewed him during Sochi - I wonder if she moved, because she clearly knows a lot about him and Kori. Hmm.

Also I'm pretty sure the interview footage was from the media day he and a lot of Team USA athletes did in LA in April (I remember the clothe & makeup!): ;)

It was Atlanta, and I :scratch2: about that; in fact, refreshed the link to see if there was a connection I was missing.

Former Denver anchor could explain it:yes:

? Jason is the headliner at Sun Valley this weekend

Does anyone plan to attend?

Well, Hubs mentioned wanting to go somewhere this weekend, but I doubt a 12-hr road trip is what he had in mind. :) Hope someone is there to report back, and hope Jason is enjoying whatever it is he's been doing since San Francisco.

FYI I've been watching the Glacier Falls LP video with headphones and I don't dislike the music nearly as much as I did before. Baby steps.

Cheryl Preheim is the reporter who interviewed him before Sochi. The photo in her tweet is from the interview and features a very baby faced Jason! She covered the Olympics in Sochi and talked to him there as well.

:yay: Yay for baby steps!

The music playing during his spectacular spiral has earwormed itself into my brain and randomly appears without warning. Fortunately, I love it!

TV reporters move around a lot -- so it's not surprising that she's somewhere else. What's surprising is that her TV station let her follow-up with Jason when there isn't really much (or any) of a tie to the ATL area. On the other hand the station is owned by a huge television company (Tegna) so maybe they'll share it with a sister station in the Denver/Colorado Springs area?

Yay! It'll get you yet!

Just to be clear, I don't think he was ever in Atlanta. I think the anchors are there, training shots are from monument, and interview was done in LA.

Oh I have to laugh - Jason has been retweeting up a storm in the past hour or so, and he just realized that he mistakenly used the word "past" in one of his retweets, when he should have used "passed" - and tweeted a correction....Of course, I could have interpretated that wrongly! 😜

ETA Mrs P what's even more interesting is that she said she'd be giving her viewers periodic updates on him leading up to the Olympics, and also that Scott Hamilton thinks he has the potential to be the next breakout star. I would have thought they'd be discussing Nathan, so quite interesting that she's following him. If she's the same person I recall she was actually reporting from Sochi in a snowsuit!

Another yay for Baby Steps:agree: I'm still not convinced about the rap part, but I still reserve judgment: I *hated* Deanna and Nate's SP music on the fancams, and then I heard it live, and Eureka! much better.

Perhaps we shall have our Eureka moments:biggrin:

Different programs. You're talking about the short, and I was talking about the long. :)

You are right, I was making assumptions:o: Whenever anyone comments about not liking Jason's current programs, I just assume it's Hamilton, and not Son of Piano:laugh:

My two cents re Cheryl Preheim, the Atlanta TV story, etc.:

It is very nice that WXIA/Atlanta made Jason the subject of a Six Months to PyeongChang story .

Preheim did not move from KUSA/Denver to Atlanta until Jan 2017.
Her experience with Olympic reporting no doubt will be an asset to WXIA.
Given Preheim's familiarity with Jason, Kori, Monument, etc., I have a feeling that she lobbied for him to be chosen for the "Six Months To ..." story. She clearly recognizes/remembers his popularity as well as his talent. Plus it doesn't hurt that Hamilton (the musical) has been a cultural phenomenon.

As for Jason's comments recorded at the NBC promotional shoot in LA, it is nothing unusual for local stations to have knowledge of and access to footage shot at the network level (and vice versa). Well-organized systems are in place for sharing of material on literally a round-the-clock basis.

So the good news here (IMO) is Preheim's personal history with Jason for the last four or five years and her continuing interest in following his journey.

I'm guessing that it would be within the realm of possibility that WXIA will be sending Preheim to PyeongChang to cover the 2018 Games. In any case, I think it would be within the realm of possibility that WXIA will send her to the USOC's September media summit in Park City to conduct some interviews of her own with hopefuls. If so, I imagine that Jason would be high on her wish list.

Nathan's prominence obviously has been more recent, so it is not particularly surprising to me that he was not the subject of WXIA's story at this point.
Preheim's insights into Jason gave the story a lot of extra "punch," and it would be understandable if Nathan has not been on her radar to anywhere near the same extent.

@ice coverage, thanks for putting a name to Cheryl Preheim's face. I remember really liking her interviews/stories about Jason, but because I don't live in Denver (or Atlanta) her name didn't stick with me.

To give credit where it is due, twas actually katmari who first mentioned Preheim by name a few posts above.

I know this is Jason's thread, but I remember Preheim partly b/c I am 99% sure that she also was the reporter for at least one KUSA/Denver "Road to Sochi" piece about Max (leading up to 2014 Nats).
Unfortunately the link below now is dead :sad4:. Among other things, it had really cute footage of Max as a young boy performing with Scott Hamilton in SOI.

ETA:
Preheim's tweet about her Max story had a still image of adorable little Max on ice with Scott Hamilton.
https://twitter.com/CherylPreheim/status/420051900159893504 (Jan 2014)

For Preheim's sake as well as ours, I hope that WXIA is planning to give the Road to PyeongChang a lot of attention.
And BTW/IIRC, at least one other local NBC station had aired the KUSA-produced piece about Max. So similarly, I hope that upcoming Jason stuff from Preheim will be aired not only in Atlanta.

ETA:
It was the NBC station in Phoenix that had aired the same piece re Max (his hometown is Scottsdale).

Interesting; Jason has never "gone with the flow" when it comes to representation, and he still follows his own path.

Not to mention, as we've all said, his mother would be a good source of information on what to look for in an agent. (Remember all that nonsense in 2014 about Jason's popularity was only due to his "connections" :dev2: but I will grant that since his mother's previous employment included dealing with agents, for *that* he may have an insiders view.

I love his vlogs. They always make me smile.

They are not as professional looking as those of the Shibs yet, but can imagine that will improve.

Just noticed that the deadline for Lombardia was Friday. That means entries should be published soon and we'll find out if Jason is returning! Or not. 🤗
