Jason Brown

The music choice alone, albeit a bit of a warhorse by now, is a definite step-up from S&G. Rather, I am already tearing up just looking at the snippet. If David Wilson does the right thing, I think this will be another masterpiece. Although he was a huge disappointment with Jason last season, it's not like he is incapable of creating a beautiful program, some of the programs he did for Javi for example, were fantastic. I would like to think he has a better understanding of Jason and his style by now. So I am in an all positive mood!

So I step away for a minute and we have news :)

Wow, that clip is beautiful. And DW can do great work, as MGStyle said, see Javi. Two thoughts:

1. How will I not think of Josh? Although I am sure Jason will make it his own.

2. I am going to cry because Jason is Jewish and he is skating to Schindler’s List. It is going to hit me in the feels, and I’m not even Jewish, :sad21:

Not to mention, did I say, that it will beautiful. :drama:

I am going to need tissues whenever Jason skates to his Free program this season. This short video already made me emotional. I have the feeling the choreo for this program will be amazing.

It is music for Great Skaters despite warhorse status... Jason will make it his own so Josh & Yulia move over and make room for one more.... fitting also he should acknowledge his heritage at least once on the ice.. LOVE it!! As others said, I, too, had tears just watching the short clip..

Oh my, that clip was beautiful! Perfect music for Jason’s style of skating and me thinks it will be a masterpiece!:hap10::hap10:

Intriguing.

I think this can become a program that is entrancing and sends shivers down one's spine.

Somethings telling me it will be a masterpiece too. I think he and David Wilson are good together. Just the music wasn’t maybe the best to show that - although I was one of the few people that didn’t mind the Paul Simon program.

So happy! This will be a great vehicle for Jason! I can already hear the thunderous applause as he finishes and holds the final catch-foot spin!

Grant Hochstein tweeted in reply to Jason’s announcement “I’m crying already”.

At least I’m in good company:)

I can already hear the awed silence...the audience holding its breath for fear of breaking the magic spell...

I am going to be absolutely sobbing at every comp he does this year. Not just for how wonderful this program will be, because even David Wilson surely can't screw up Jason and Schindler's List! But also because...can you imagine the fluff pieces we might have seen? Jason and Joshua discussing the music, playful ribbing in press conferences...

For the love of god please don't put him in grey or I won't survive the season.

Warhorse or not I think that this is an excellent music choice for Jason. It’s stunningly beautiful music for a stunningly beautiful skater.

Jason hasn't skated to many war horses in his career and I've thought that I'd like to see him take a piece of familar music and make it his own. I wasn't expecting Schindler's List but am thrilled by the choice.

John Williams is my favorite composer and I've had the opportunity to see him conduct music from Schindler's List in concert. Hearing it live and feeling the emotion from the rest of the audience as you share the experience is unforgettable and deeply moving. I am already imagining having the same emotional reaction when Jason skates.

I'm not overly fond of most SL programs but I know Jason will approach it with musicality and sensitivity, much like my other favorite performances by Josh Farris and Paul Wylie.

It's going to be a great year to be a John Williams fan and a skating fan with Jason/Schindler's List and Zhenya/Memoirs of a Geisha.

Oh gosh. I’ve been hoping since forever that Jason would skate to something beautiful and lyrical like this. Warhorse or not, I think it’s a great choice for him, and I can’t want to see the program

Do you guys remember Jason saying that Inner Love was intended to take Piano to a deeper, richer level? I hope he actually gets there with this new program. And darn it, I hope he keeps that beautiful Ina Bauer just as it is, instead of turning it into the throwaway version he usually puts in his programs!

Okay can I just tell you a really strange coincidence? Last night I was watching a few of Jason’s old programs on YouTube (Piano, Turandot, Flow Like Water) and as YouTube does, it starting throwing me suggestions. So I watched Yuzuru’s two 2019 Olympic programs, and Davis & White’s Scheherazade from Sochi. The last program it suggested - the last program I watched - was something that I never would have chosen myself, something I haven’t seen since the 2014 Olympics, and that was Julia’s Schindler’s List from the Team Event. I kid you not!

Anyway, aside from looking forward to this, now I’m really curious as to what Rohene will do. Maybe we’ll get a rivalry- who can do the best programs for Jason. :)

Bookseller, I was so sorry to read about your husband and hope he’s better and that dark chocolate is having its intended effect on you.

Ross74, I cannot believe that the engine of your car was destroyed by a rogue spark plug - Herr Gott im Himmel! Hoping you (better, your mechanic) have great insurance and the problem is resolved as quickly and smoothly as possible.

ETA @Karne - I’m sure we won’t get anything near as tasteful as Josh's costume. Probably they’ll just do the SG sweater in a gray and brown version, or something like that.

Jason looking all sunny and hyped up for Beijing.
Continue on the road toweards the dream Jason you can make it.
I am thankful Tracy and Brian tagged him along, it makes the goal more tangible for him I guess.

Being Jewish and a longtime fan of Jason and this music makes this perfect for me. He has very deep ties to his Judaism and I am sure will bring such emotion and depth to this program. This makes the anticipation during this long off season so much more exciting.

That clip is certainly very promising. I can see that music enhancing Jason's incredible skating skills and hope that the emotional content will take him out of his head sufficiently to execute his jumps the way he does them in training or better. Looking forward to seeing what Rohene and Jason cook up for the short. I am sure that no one at TCC overlooked the brilliance of that short last year and Wilson's choreography should be more inspired this year. This is an important year for Jason, I think. It will be interesting to see how the program evolves.

Thank you for your good wishes! Recovering nicely here, but exhausted. I am staying home for Mother's Day and playing catch up. Not leaving the house is a genuine gift for me! And as it's raining here all day, there is no temptation to go out for any reason. Time to switch over to summer wardrobe and hope that the weather patterns here get the hint. It's been a chilly, wet spring so far.

It's good to see all the positive comments about the SL program! I can't say I remember the other programs done to this music, though I'm sure I saw them. It was during a time when I wasn't re-watching skating programs. I do remember Sadovsky's somewhat from last season. I'm trying to decide if I should watch any of them or just wait for Jason's. I think I'll wait. :) All I've want is for Jason to skate to music that he wants to skate to, and music that means something to him. Hopefully this does. DW we're watching you! I'm very happy that he has the choreography now and has the time to get comfortable with it. Autumn Classic is in 4 months. Will that be the first time we see it?

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms! We're going out for brunch, then will maybe do a hike. It's a beautiful day here! Sorry for your rain, east-coasters.

When will we know which competitions he'll attend the coming season? This is something I must see live

Hi Tim, and welcome to the Jason fan fest! Your handle reminds me of one of my favorite films, Strictly Ballroom (because of the character Tina Sparkle!).

Anyway, we’ll probably find out about Jason’s Grand Prix assignments around the end of June. They do have a picture of him in the Skate America advertising and last time that happened, he was there - but I’d probably wait until the announcement if I were you. Nathan will almost certainly be there, and if he is, Vincent can’t be due to seeding. So in that case, it’s possible Jason will be invited. But its also possible he won’t and that he’ll end up elsewhere.

Regarding Challenger series events, if he only does one, it may be Autumn Classic again, just because it would be convenient for his coaching team - but no guarantees. Last year we didn’t find out until a few weeks before - well after tickets went on sale (and they sold out bc Hanyu fans wanted to see him). If we’re lucky we’ll find out sooner this season, but don’t count on it.
