Jason Brown

… For Dance, I'd go with someone who is the same height, but more expressive on the ice. Avonley would be perfect. :)

IFFFFFF Avonley did not already have the perfect partner in Vadym, then she could be a good fit for Jason.

Given that she is sooooooo unavailable, I do not like the idea of even light-hearted daydreaming about Jason skating with her. :(

ETA:
Similarly: Thank goodness that no one has suggested that Wenjing Sui would be perfect (for pairs) with Jason. Even just the idea of Sui not skating with Cong Han would be equally distressing to me. Don't even want to think about it.

I hate to think how Vadym :ghug: would feel if he ever were to see this thread.
Avonley is lucky to have him, just as he is lucky to have her.

It’s not an “entirely” crazy thing. Matt Blackmer, went from pairs to dance and ended up at nationals with Alexandria Aldridge. I remember he passed an insane number of dance tests in a few months to get to nationals.

:agree: Including sixteen tests in one day, per a GS article.

It’s fun speculation. I don’t really expect him to actually pursue it. Seems like there are a lot of other things he’s interested in. But if he wanted to try ice dance, it’s totally possible :)

:agree: Qualifying for Nats is an accomplishment unto itself, which I do not want to diminish. But the three lowest-placing senior dance couples at 2019 Nats each had an overall score (RD+FD) of well under 100. (They did not attain even half of the overall score for fifth place, earned by Carreira/Ponomarenko.)

That part of Papa Brown's goal -- for Jason to qualify for and compete at Nats in senior dance -- would not be unthinkable to me.

… (Also Damian Dodge’s partner, whose name I am drawing a blank, evidently skated singles and dance simultaneously?) ...

Total respect for Julia Biechler . Although AFAIK she never qualified in the same year for both senior dance and senior ladies at Nats, she did compete simultaneously in both dance and ladies elsewhere. Such as at 2017 U.S. Classic/U.S. Challenge Skate in SLC:

I would like to think he has a sense of humor and would take it in the same sense of fun as it was intended.

I will try to make this post my last one on this subject (because I really do not want to argue):

Vadym has a great sense of humor.
Avonley has said that his sense of humor is one of her two favorite things about him. (The other being his intelligence.)

I agree with Avonley, and another thing that I like about Vadym is his maturity.

But if I were a seventeen-year-old (who at the age of fifteen moved overseas without my parents in order to form a partnership that has been very fruitful), I'm not so sure that I would see what would be "fun" about the idea of my partner as the perfect partner for someone else. :(

I’m loving the idea of Avonley, Satoko, (ETA: sorry, I know Satoko is not an ice dancer, but in this dream she could be) and any other ice dancer with Jason.

What great ideas

And Karen Chen for pairs would be too cute as well:biggrin:

Maybe Steve Brown was onto something;)

I guess Evgenia is too tall but it would be really fun to see the two of them do pairs!

Supposedly 5'3", so only 4 inches difference. And that is if Jason is really 5'7". Sometimes I wonder. ;) Where's that clip of them doing the short in-hold dance in Ice Fantasia?

In that case, perhaps someone (although not I ;)) would like to propose that Alexa Knierim or Tarah Kayne would be good ideas as partners for Jason?

Would Never in a million years suggest Jason replace Vadym!!! I meant to compare Jason to Vadym since imho they have much the same qualities. I like Vadym and Avonley together very much!!
Since we were discussing Jason as a possible ice dancer, I thought to mention a partner such as Avonley would suit him. My apologies if I was unclear. I adore Vadym's skating!!!!

No need to apologize, elbkup. :ghug: (And I will send you a PM when I have a chance.)

In Avonley/Vadym's fan thread, your posts are some of my very favorites -- because of your ongoing support for Avonley and Vadym, both together and as individuals. :)
They are fortunate to have a fan like you.

Ice Dance is my favorite discipline, partly because of the dynamic created between unique
skating partners.. not easy to achieve. Avonley and Vadym are my upcoming favorites along with seniors Chock and Bates, the Shibutanis, and Olympic champions Davis & White.. it's a delicate balance.
Very much looking forward to Avonley and Vadym's programs this year and fingers crossed for a super successful season!! Yes, I am a huge fan... Thanks!

Yeah I don’t think Evgenia is tall per se, just that the small height difference would make things difficult. I’m not sure if we’ve discussed this before, but having stood next to him, Jason doesn’t strike me as shorter than 5’7”. He’s definitely shorter than Josh and Jeremy, pretty close in height to Hanyu and Javi, and taller than Max, Grant, Nathan and Jean-Luc, I think.

You weren’t unclear at all @Elbkup and of course talking about Avonley as a partner for Jason in our “what super little partner” could Jason find in no way, shape or form insults Vadym. The comment was good:agree:

Now, jumping off and back to this particular FF, it’s hard to say of the current pair girls if any fit the “super little” criteria requested by Jason:laugh: Alexa certainly looks petite, but that’s next to Chris. Tarah, hmmmm, I think she and Jason would spend too much time making each other laugh. And we know Ashley Cain-Gribble is too tall. (only in a “pair with Jason” world, of course;) )

BUT....Deanna Stellato *is * “super little” but will she be available to compete past 2022?

Deanna! They both point their toes! And they’re both from Chicago!

Other than that, all I can say is, the Michelle Hong interview and the GP announcements can’t come soon enough for me. :drama:

Avonley and Vadym are a match made in heaven, two peas in a pod, they cannot be separated :luv17: Let's be realistic, US Dance field is too crowded at the top level. He should come to Italy and pair up with Giada Russo, another beautifully artistic skater, who just switched for Ice Dancing!!! :hap93::hap57::biggrin:

Thanks Elhenry!!
Now Deanna.. I could see that!!

Hummmm.. Interesting... is she looking for a partner? Wonder if Jason's dad is searching in earnest?!

Pretty sure he's single minded in his pursuit of the 2022 Olympics as a single male skater. When he finishes his single competition career, then he might be interested in competing in something else. Or not. His dad wants him to do it. But it would be fun to see Jason compete as an ice dancer. A year without Jason competing would be a very sad year for me, for sure!

actually I think she did find a partner, if I am not mistaken. But her career as an ice dancer is just taking off, I don't think she has officially competed yet. I would think she would consider him IF Jason is serious about this move!!!! OMG they would make such a cute pair, and to put together such beautiful artistry and musicality together... :luv17: one can dream, at least, no?

correction >>> looks like she did compete already... & OMG her partner is TALL :eekn:
