SF was the jumping off point for China as we suspected, but he didn't get more than a week or so with Rohene. It's a good opportunity for Jason to be working with Tracy and Ghislaine. He does look serious. Also noted that Chinese Figure Skating posted a photo of Jason on their official page. Jason was keeping a low profile on the last visit. Not so low this time. Tomorrow's announcement will be interesting!

Interesting. I just assumed he was back in the Jackson boots. Good luck to him with the equipment changes. That can't be easy.

Tavi, I found your comments about Tamoki interesting. I predict Tamoki will get SA and I feel like he's the real threat to Jason making the U.S. team this year. He's come a long way. I used to love Rohene's choreography on him, but he also looks good with other choreo. Does anyone remember an interview with Tamoki right after he came to Monument? When asked why he moved to Kori, he said he wanted to learn how to skate like Jason Brown. !!!

I think a week isn't bad. I remember last year, Jason posted that he'd started working on his new short program with Rohene that morning (in Monument), then took off for New Zealand 3 days later. :laugh: Of course, they were meeting up and working on it during SOI, but I bet they'll be getting together for touch-ups this summer as well.

I expect that Jason and Rohene will work on the short after he gets back from China. Hopefully that clip we saw was early in the process. I expect that it was. And yes, COC is a definite possibility. He'll be up against (at least!) Boyang, probably Vince and who knows who else? I also think that Tomoki will get SA. But tomorrow night, we'll be talking about who actually got what competition. It will be interesting!
 
Well rumor has it that assignments will be released tonight at midnight Japanese time, which I think is 9:00 am mountain time....

@Ross74, agree with you about Tomoki. Re boots, I was surprised, but maybe Jackson are making him custom boots and they’re not ready? Or I could be mistaken. Now I think about it, his boots don’t have the Edea logo on the heel, so maybe he is in Jackson’s but they’re different ones. Or not.

As I was drifting off to sleep after having had about 3 hours only the night before, I realized my time mistake and felt like an idiot. 11 AM it is! Somehow my addled brain started counting down west to east.

Unfortunately there are now some unconfirmed reports that assignments won’t be released until later or tomorrow.

Why am I not surprised? Once the assignments leak out, Feds and coaches start to lobby for changes. The guessing game goes on! The most amusing part of all of this to me, is that until Jason skated Riverdance at US Nats in 2014, I didn't even know there was a Grand Prix of Figure Skating. That skate totally changed my life.

Ha ha - now Eislauffan, a journalist and a reliable and knowledgeable poster on FSU, has reported that they will be released at 16:00 (4:00 pm) Central European time, so should be at... 10:00 am your time! Let’s hope she’s right!
