Jason Brown

Welcome home, Jason! I feel like we haven’t seen those glasses in a while. Are they the ones from the Sochi era?

What would St. Patrick's Day be without a Riverdance throwback. Not the clearest, but I love this USFS FB video with no commentary, the extended K&C, sightings of family members in the audience, and enhanced audio.

Happy St. Paddy's!

That was a long wait for scores. I hadn't realized that it took so long. Also notably missing was the scrunched up face and the trepidation. But the double take when he heard his score will be remembered forever. He could fit that skate into 4 minutes now that he's so much faster. He'd have to lose one jump. And add some spins. Thanks for this!

Thank goodness this version doesn't have the mood whiplash shot of Jason's delight cut straight to Max hastily trying to cover up his devastation. I might keep this version.

Good god, he looks like such a baby here!

This made me laugh a lot today which is appreciated!

How does Jason know to give us exactly what we need at the exact right time? That costume, though. I was worried about the artwork on the wall, if I'm honest.

It made my day! I am still laughing. I watched it over and over and then made my husband watch it and then watched the original. He is the best! The costume! So happy to see this!

His feet were getting too close to those light fittings for comfort. He ain't little anymore!

Seeing as the costume still fits, no reason this can't be brought back for a gala. I demand Riverdance 2022 Olympics Exhibition!!

Someone elsewhere suggested it as a short program. I would not be opposed. Even watching the old Riverdance video today, you can see the increase in speed, strength, the clarity of his bladework and his body movement, the control and precision, even his air position and jump run-out, between then and now. Not that he was ever particularly lacking in those things in the time of Riverdance, just that they've gotten even better. I would love to see Riverdance revisited just to really show off his improvements.

I would definitely love to see it in competition again, I imagine it would be so improved. Maybe it could be a possibility for next season considering the potential lack of training/opportunity with choreographers, revamping an old programme might be easier (I can also see current season programmes being kept, but let me keep the riverdance dream alive!)

I'll just have to go back and check out the light fixture threat a few dozen more times. :luv17: He's just so endearing.

Even if he just brought Riverdance back for ice shows it would be fun. But I don't think he'll do it. I wish they would reformulate it for the Olympic season, but it's become so iconic, it's hard to do that. And he's moved on. One of Jason's strengths is that he challenges himself with new programs. Since this season was short for him, bringing back SL at least makes sense. If he can add a quad to the short, repeating that makes sense also. But I'd love to see him do Riverdance!

While I don't think Jason will ever skate to Riverdance again... face it, all forces of the universe came together to make that such a very special skate that will never be duplicated.... I would love for him to skate to something just as upbeat and with similar crowd appeal and challenging footwork. So I'm putting my order in for that for the next long program. :agree:

Do I foresee Dancing in Highland Park videos?

Yes, please! I'm more than ready for a cheesy dancing video. I've missed them!

So, since so many places are live streaming old performances (if you’re an opera lover, check on the Met on Demand which is currently streaming 1 free broadcast per night) why don’t we do a Jason retrospective? :) Maybe we could do one per day, starting with the early ones, and just comment on what we like, what we never noticed before, what is still the same, what has changed, etc?

Here’s one to start us off, his 2011 free skate from Nats. This is the year he turned senior. I won’t comment on it until everyone has a chance to watch:
