Jason Brown

I hope that Jason keeps his hair also, though I think the ponytail should remain in his history. But his two skating idols are Scott Hamilton and Brian Boitano, so he has good role models. Oddly, the less hair Jason has, the better he skates. At this point, the way he's wearing his hair looks fine. It's grown up Jason!

He does handle interviews well. I know he appreciates Team Rainbow support but he doesn't want this to be the narrative. The narrative for him is failing to make the team in 2018 and committing to a 4 year journey to make the team in 2022 and succeeding. That's what's important. And now that he's made the team, he wants to deliver the best skates that he can. He's spent time in China with the Chinese skating team and he understands their culture a bit and he made friends there. He's comfortable in China. He wants to be respectful and enjoy the process. That's what they should be asking him about. And he's sticking to that narrative. He wants to bring his best to China.
Agreed Bookseller - Jason wants to be known for his skating. Other things are personal.

Another SOI attendee in Allentown confirmed.

Center ice, seventh row, aisle seat. Because Jason is worth it. :)

(and since I went to the actual real live box office, I have a, wait for it, paper ticket. Cause that's how I roll:biggrin:)
After my disappointment with not making it to Nationals, I’m nervous about buying tickets. I want to go so much. I lost $950 on Nats tickets. How much are good seats going for?

Wow, that is a shame about the Nats tickets.

Mine were $83 (?) a ticket. 80 something. That was without Ticketmaster, which I didn't pay as I bought onsite. But taxes, etc. will differ from place to place.

I need to see which location is closer.

Having driven up and down the interstates of the mid-Atlantic for work (albeit that ended six years ago), I can tell you that the closest location to the DC burbs in terms of time is Hershey. And 83 is an old decrepit highway but almost never gets the traffic jams of 95 or 78. But of course you may have other considerations.

Thanks for the information!

I didn't buy floor seats. I bought lower seats along the ice and it cost me $95. I got a slight senior discount. But there are also ticket fees. I paid $60 for the Meet and Greet. I'm sorry that you didn't get your Nationals ticket money back. That's a BIG hit. I decided that I could stand to lose the price of SOI tickets, but I certainly hope I don't. I'm looking forward to the show.

I may need to check that out, because I’m coming from Fairfax, VA.
I'm coming from Waynesboro. I have a friend living about 50 minutes away from the Allentown Arena, so I'll drive there after the event and sleep there and hang out for breakfast. Not having to pay for a hotel made it possible. Hotel prices seem to run around $125 a night, but very possibly a less expensive room could be had a 30 minute drive from the Arena. It's a 5 hour drive from Waynesboro. You are about 3 1/2 hours away.

Hershey was closer for me also, but since I am headed to NY afterward and I would have needed a hotel, I chose Allentown. But from Fairfax, Hershey is a good option. That's less than 2 1/2 hours from you. But if you choose to stay in a hotel, Allentown is less expensive. I didn't compare the ticket prices.

Nice tweet from Ben Rector today:

Thanks. Ben also posted on IG:

and what is interesting is all the comments, from what I presume are country music fans, impressed by Jason (of course).

Looking at it again, I like the Gene Kelly costume for this exhibition. I wonder if it was brought down as a possible substitute for costumes in transit, or if they knew they would use Jason (again of course they would) for one of the live music exhibitions?

I think that all the skaters who skated to live music were given the music ahead of time to do the choreo. I don't know whether Jason and Ro worked on that while he was in Chicago, or whether Jason did the choreo himself. It was clearly a very personal experience for Jason (and Maddie and Evan!) and a lot was invested in that skate. It was a very nice touch and made the gala more meaningful. I was sad to see that they edited out the skaters preface comments and the guitar presentation when they showed it on NBC. The live gala without commentary was much more interesting to watch. I felt like I was there. When I watched the replay on Peacock, the commentary spoiled it. It just became another fluff piece. And it wasn't like that live.

As for the costume, that may well have been intentional and it did work. I assumed that Jason's mom would have grabbed the costumes from the original SL and last year's short. They both would have appropriate. Fortunately, Jason's luggage caught up with him.
