Jason Brown

hi thank you karne for your reply so quickly I wount ask any real personal questions again I was just courios. thanks so much for having this thread.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask things like, does he play an instrument, what is he studying at school, and so on. Where I do think it crosses the line is when it goes into the really personal stuff, unless the skater mentions it themselves.

For example, the Max fans know that Max is single, or was in October at least . We know this not because of snooping or prying, but because Ashley Wagner posted on instagram. Likewise, when he and Gracie were dating, we knew that they were because Max himself brought that information into the public domain. Jason has never once addressed the subject of romance publicly, so, the situation is different.

thank you so much I was just courios thanks for taking the time too answer my questions for me you guys are great. I wasn't sure what too ask or talk about on this thread im sorry if I was out of line.

The rule I (and I think most people should) go by is that I won't talk about anything personal about a skater unless they or someone close to them has posted about it on social media. Or there is an article about it published. Then you know they are probably okay with it being out to the public.

Even then, I wouldn't discuss their romantic life, especially if the relationship seems "new" or the other person wasn't a well known figure.

hi and thank you musicfan80 for your reply I will tank your advice too heart and thank you for this thread merry Christmas and happyholidays.

Continuing our conversation on Jason minutiae:

In his latest tweet, (which I can't copy here on my Air2, too old to learn new tricks) holding the cover of Skating Magazine (drawing by the ever talented Max Settlage):

Light brown hair:) Can we tell Rohene's on the road and there have been no recent comps?

el henry, I can't tell in this photo if his hair has been darkened though. ;)

Brown may be waiting until January to get his hair colored/highlighted so that it will look as "fresh" as possible. He may get it done when he gets his final hair cut before leaving for Nationals. Just a theory on why his hair may be lighter right now.

Skate 7K had their holiday exhibition today and in the photo Jason is wearing his SP outfit. He probably didn't do all the technical elements but it's a good sign that's he's back on ice performing for an audience.

Yay yay yay - so happy he's back on the ice for real!

HI all its Jacque here rohene and Jason must be close if he lets him color his hair.jason is becoming very goodlooking in recent photos with his dad and ive seen recently. how long is rohene going too be out on tour. oh is anybody going too nationals.

hi its Jacque again Jason is so talented and apparently a good student in college without this sounding too creepy im a little curious about his personal life I don't know much. I would like too know more what is he studing in school. what does he want due for a career when he finishes with his skating career witch I hope will not be any time soon. what are his hobbies and what does he like too do in his free time. is he straight or gay. does he date other skaters.is he dating any one serious.what kind of car does he like too drive.i hope this dosent sound too obsessive but hes my favorite skater and I would like too learn more about him.thankstoo any one that can help.

As a gay man, no one should be forced to come out until HE decides FOR HIMSELF. There is only one exception to this rule for me, and that is for someone in the closet who actively promotes homophobia whilst in a position of power (like say, a member of the US Congress). Otherwise, it's nobody's business but his own.

Just my two cents.

I don't think jacque was saying otherwise, but rather was just asking if it was something Jason has commented on. "Are you seeing someone" is a pretty normal question that gets asked of celebs, it seems reasonable to ask if it is something we have a comment on from Jason. jacque very quickly and readily accepted that this is something Jason has chosen not to talk about, but i see no harm in asking if he had made the choice to talk about it.

It is not out of the realm of possibility for a fan to not know that Adam Rippon and Eric Radford have publicly come out, a fan asking the same questions in their fan threads would have likely lead to a "here is an article where they talk about coming out." I did not get the impression jacque was looking for gossip, or information from insiders, but was asking if a similar article to the above, or the Piece Ashely Wagner recently did talking about her boyfriend. Articles like this do exist, there is no reason a fan should assume none exist on Jason.

I don't think anyone here would want to pressure Jason to share anything he is not comfortable with, nor is this forum the type that is looking for paparazzi shots. But if Jason were to post a pic on instagram kissing someone declaring his love for them, yeah i am sure it would get posted here and we would likely coo over it and with them the best... but only if it was clearly Jason's choice.

Excited and terrified!!!

I can't believe it's only about 4 weeks to Nats and am really hoping he'll be back to almost full strength by then! I guess I'm a little worried that the extended time away from training will have impacted his conditioning and that there won't be enough time for him to fully prepare. But hopefully he and Kori have things under control. It will be interesting to see if they take out the quad for Nats - I actually don't think that would be the worst idea in the world if the main goal now is not winning but simply placing high enough to be named to the world team (fingers crossed!). :)

HELLO ALL, Iam so looking forward too nationals this year. even though I cant be there in person im hoping they will televise it at some point that would be great. there are so many great young competive skaters out there.lets face it Jason is very popular all around the world especiley in japan. Jason is very well trained and talented. im still worried that if he dosent incorpet the quad jump in his programs soon and master it almost blinded folded so to skeak. he is not going too ketchup too the rest of the competive skaters out there.and he will lose his copetive edge and standing in figureskating. they make sports so difficult and highly competive its hard too achive and easy too fail. no woder so mainy skaters suffer from injurys. lets just hope Jason does well regardless.

Let's get back on the happy train! Who's excited for nationals?!

Excited and terrified!!!

Me too. But I am excited and terrified for the U.S. Men in general. I'm assuming that Max and Jason will finish 1-2 in some order. But Jason's recovery with his back is the most important thing. But I have no idea who will be the #3 man. I'm not convinced it will be Adam - but who knows what will happen with Nathan or Grant. And I will also be sad because Josh probably won't be competing. But as well as with Jason, his health is the most important thing right now.

It wouldn't surprise me if they at least take out the quad in the short program and "wait and see" about the long program. I think A LOT will depend on how the standings look after the short program. Last year, I think Jason was comfortably in 1st and it was bunched between 2nd-3rd and then there was a drop in points from there. Something similar may happen again and Jason may not need it.

@musicfan80, Jason didn't put a quad in his SP at SA or in either senior B this fall so I'd be surprised if they added it at Nats - it has just been in the FS. Hard to say what their strategy will be for the FS at Nats since we don't know where he is in his rehab and if he's now training it and if so if he's still falling on it a lot. Last year at Nats and at WTT he scored really well without any quads. I'm guessing the ultimate goal by 2018 is for him to do more than 1 quad in each program, so they may be conservative now in hopes that he can reach the multiple quad goal sooner rather than later. But who knows - I'm totally speculating.

I'm so anxious about Nationals I can't even. I hope Jason does really well, but much as I adore him, I think Max needs the title more this year. I trust that Jason will be on the Worlds team whether he's first, second or third, but I don't trust that Max will be unless he wins the thing. And then there's Josh. Please...for my Golden Trio...in Boston...

I disagree that a silver or bronze would not be good enough to Max to go to worlds. I think Max has rebuilt enough love from USFSA... they were jerks, he did not go away, so now they respect that he put up with them. Also he has been being used in adds for worlds for awhile now...so I think he has a pretty good chance to go. I actually have been going round and round as well as to who i want to see win and I think Jason needs it more, it might be better for US figure skating in general if he repeats. The USA is not very good at having skaters defend their titles. Even a awesome silver performance from Jason will still likely lead to pundits saying he is done, he was a one hit wonder, he is another 1 time champ... bla bla bla. A silver would still be an upswing for Max's career, but actually could be rather costly to Jason.

If i thought people would not smack talk Jason with a silver, i think i would also hoping for a Max win. But I just loath having to hear people whine about USA not having skaters that can defend their title and kinda want Jason to win just to avoid it.

If i thought for a second the reaction would be more of a "whooohooo we have an awesome friendly rivalry between two fantastic skaters!" I would feel very different. Also if i thought Max needed to win to get to worlds... i likely would be routing for Max as well.

As for Josh.... I am trying not to get disappointed... or have a full podium in mind. Really i just want the bronze medalist to seem like they earned it and are proud of the bronze.
