Jason Brown

The news of Nathan's injury and not being able to compete at Worlds jut breaks my heart. I also hate that we have ANOTHER name to #TeamUSMenInfirmary.

I imagine what USFS thinks is (1) that it hopes that both Jason and Nathan will have successful and complete recoveries ; (2) that it looks forward to having both Jason and Nathan back in great shape for next season ; and (3) that at this point, Adam, Max, and Grant are the best team for Worlds .

I really hope that was USFS focus in not selecting Jason to even be an alternate for the World's team. I think that given that we know that they are healthy for now (do we need to light candles?), this is realistically the best U.S. men's team to Boston.

Some good Jason news:

We are excited to announce that the 2016 @IceChipsBoston guest star is @jasonbskates! http://ow.ly/XEuIW

Save the 2016 Dates!
Saturday, April 16th, 1:00pm & 7:00pm
Sunday, April 17th, 12:00pm

(The dates are two weeks after Worlds and one week before the Team Challenge Cup.)

That is good news. I wonder if Jason would be able to do any other of the Stars on Ice tour shows. I guess it would depend on whether he is even invited.

More positive Jason news: pic of him hiking in mountains (Garden of Gods?)

This is a really good sign! I believe the Garden of the Gods has a lot of dramatic elevation changes. It's probably a good way to cross train.

I'm really sorry for Nathan, and I hope he heals well. But I have to echo the sentiment that there's a bit of irony, because now we have people crying out why Jason wasn't 1st alternate to help keep the 3rd spot, while beforehand everybody was just complaining about the sheer possibility of him being at worlds.

And... I'm sorry but I really can't see the US keeping their 3 spots (though I'll be rooting for that). And I don't mean that to be harsh to any of Max, Adam or Grant, who all deserve their world spots and are a lovely team to sent overall. But if the men skate anything like they did in Barcelona, we have an amazing men's field with so much talent, there's no shame in not managing a top 6 placement. It's not impossible, because a lot can happen on slippery ice, but it is a very, very tall order for any team IMO to keep or get the 3rd spot at worlds (probably except Japan, but who knows).

But so happy with the positive Jason news! Thanks for posting

Even though the patriotic American in me is so excited for Worlds being in my country, I think it will be tough for the U.S. men to keep their three spots for Helsinki. I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that the USFS is focus on skater's health and wanting Jason (and Josh and Nathan) to fully recover so that, if we only have two men at 2017 Worlds, the best of Max, Jason, Josh, and Nathan can go there, healthy and better than ever and get our 3rd spot for the 2018 Olympics.

I think the U.S. men can surprise us. It's tough competition, no doubt. However, even if the top 5 from GPF stay in the top 5 at Worlds, getting 6th and 7th is totally possible, though very competitive.

The saving grace is that Japan only has two men (Hanyu and Uno).

So assuming the top five stay intact: (Yuzuru, Fernandez, Uno, Chan, Jin) the non-U.S. contenders for 6/7:
China: Han
Russia: Kovtun/Koylada
Kaz: Ten
ISR: BYCHENKO (he's a factor now that he's a Euros medalist!)

Nam Nguyen won't be at Worlds (and I'm not sure how competitive Reynolds and Firus are now internationally) and Misha Ge is also injured. So yes, super super tough competition, but not insurmountable.

And ice is slippery, so perhaps one skater can sneak in for 5th to give the other two skaters some breathing room.

@musicfan80, I would be really surprised if Jason did SOI. It's a distraction from his training and rehab and the process of really mastering those two programs. Also, touring is kind of hard on the body. He doesn't really need performing experience like Josh did.

Then again what do I know?

ETA Mrs P good assessment. No one thought we would keep 3 last year and we did. So let's see!

Of this list, Max has, this season, beaten Bychenko, Ten, Han, and Uno. No doubt he will be the leader of the Worlds team no matter what the Nationals results say - I hope he doesn't psyche himself out with the pressure to keep three spots.

Glad to see Jason's pic of the hike today, he must be feeling better

There are only six stops on the Stars on Ice tour this year and it looks like there are decent sized breaks. It's nothing like what Champions on Ice tour was back in the day. Also Jason could only end up doing certain shows.

But I will again that doing one show hear of there may fit in better with his recovery, which is of course more important. The Sun Valley Ice shows aren't until the summer, correct? Does anyone know if the skaters who perform any of the shows make a decent amount of money? I'm not saying that making money should be the highest priority, but it is a way that many of these skaters can get funds for their training.

Well Chicago is on the list so maybe he'll be a special guest there. I just remember Kori saying that the post-Olympic SOI had a negative impact on his preparation for the following season. But there were a lot of other things at play so who knows. If he comes to Chicago I'll definitely go.

ETA he has gone to Sun Valley.

Nice to see in St. Paul that Max can count on Adam's support in Boston. And vice versa :ghug:.
I hope that each can help the other manage the pressure of being at his best at Worlds for the team's sake as well as for his own sake.
Max and Adam both will have to rise to the occasion to keep the three spots. Fingers crossed.

And we know that Jason will be sending his support :). I did love his collage of throwback photos :luv17: with each of the men in the final group in the Nats FS.
Esp. the one with of younger Jason with mini Nathan. (And the one of our favorite bro hug with Max, of course.)
Look forward to seeing a photo of Jason with Grant .

That's a great photo and Jason looks really good!

To answer your question in the Max thread, while I don't know for sure, I don't think Jason choreographs his exhibitions. I am pretty sure it's mostly Rohene and Kori.

I have a terrible confession to make: despite the fact that I know he needs to heal and will come back when his body is ready, I am so eager to see him back on the ice!

I was just wondering what conditioning jasons back is in and how serious is his injury .Jason said specific move did not cause the injury.roheen said the quads caused the back injury.i was wandering if any one had any new info on the subject.

No news. Kori told TSL that he was going to start back on the ice last week, but I haven't seen anything confirming he's back training. Soon, hopefully.

Family Feud! Omg if they ever go on Family Feud for some reason....man imagine what will happen.

They could go and do it for charity - I believe Jason is a huge supporter of the Ronald McDonald House(s). I also believe that he has a service project as part of his bar mitzvah.

Here you guys are all appreciating the content and me I'm staring out the windows going, is that Highland Park out there, cause if it is he is probably still not back training yet.

Always the optimist, me.
