Jason Brown

Another article that assumes Jason is Olympics bound, although at least this one is from some Internet site I've never heard of, (Daily Dot?) and therefore has more of an excuse than NBC. Also one of the first examples, I think, of Hamilton driving interest in Jason:

Watch this brilliant Hamilton inspired program by US figure skater Jason Brown

And remember when Jason was interviewing with Teen Vogue at the Media Summit? So now he's a Team USA account to follow. They don't assume Olympics, although it's in the title:

Winter Olympics 2018: Team USA Instagram Accounts to Follow

Awww, they called him "A ray of sunshine in human form"

... I think Agnes Zawadski was invited to photo shoots as the reigning bronze medalist, but Ross Miner didn't even though he was the silver medalist. ....

Ross Miner was invited to the NBC promotional shoot in Spring 2013. As was Christina Gao.

Which means also that they are included in NBC "themed" pre-Sochi fluff pieces. Random examples that stick in my mind: Ross was in one about quad jumps (3:03) [along with Max and Evan]; Christina [along with athletes from other winter sports] is in a fun one about nicknames.

[Ross and Christina both were assigned to 2013 Nepela (Oct 3 - 5), and did not attend the USOC media summit (Sep 29 - Oct 2).
Always has seemed within the realm of possibility to me that maybe one or both of them had received an invitation to the media summit, but had to turn it down?? ]

As for Agnes, correct that she attended both the NBC shoot and the USOC media summit :agree:.
(e.g., she had a starring role in NBC's 12 Days of Sochi music video (2:32), which was one of my favorites. Max and Jeremy also were in that one, IIRC.)

ETA:

I have added the link to the 12 Days video. Re-watched to refresh my memory, and it included even more skaters than I remembered (mixed in with athletes from other sports). Along with Agnes/Max/Jeremy: Gracie; Ashley; Davis/White; Shibs; Castelli/Shnapir; Denney/Coughlin, and I hope I'm not forgetting anyone.

Another random one: Ross is in NBC's (very wholesome :)) "Fun With Mannequins" video, as are Max, Agnes, Davis/White, etc.

BTW, NBC has started posting pre-2018 themed fluff pieces, although off the top of my head, I do not remember whether Jason has been in any so far.

.... I think on the whole they invited way more skaters this time around. ....

:agree:

From "the apple does not fall far from the tree" department, I love how Jason's father kinda steals the show  in the group photo below. No wonder Jason often is a goofball  too.

The waist was obviously the problem, it is also cutting off the design of the top. Sincerely I am not too sure of that asymmetric slit on the top either, reminds me too much of the original Piano costume which they eventually ditched. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up tinkering with the design of the top before the Nationals.

el henry, you find the most interesting stuff!

Glad they’re changing the pants but quite funny that the designer is publicly admitting to a mistake - shows the extent of the criticism I guess! Jason was a good sport for not complaining, and I’m really glad he didn’t let it affect his skating. But...why does he still have to be “very blue” for NHK? It’s not like he doesn’t already have plain black pants.

On another note, I wonder if this is Jason’s first Brad Griffies designed costume, or if BG also did the first Piano costume. Neither strikes me as really “right” for Jason - too glitzy - although hopefully the plain navy pants will improve it. I loved last year’s grey SP top and this year’s SP costume, both of which really flatter Jason and are interesting at the same time. If Brad Griffies did them, maybe it’s just a question of the material he works with - I’m not nuts about the stretch velvet and glitter look, I guess. If not, I kinda wonder why they didn’t ask the SP designer to also do this year’s free.

Anyway, here’s to a great NHK for Jason - only 4days until the SP!

on a bit random note, since NHK with Jason is approaching...I'm seriously debating taking Friday off to watch all events live and I don't know what to do (NHK is usually my fave GP of the season and there is so many skaters I like this year...)

Ahhhhhhh yisssssssssss
Plain navy pants with no beading is the perfect choice!
Interested to see what the final version looks like. I vote for a lower waist.
I vote for
- lower waist
- navy pants, no bling
- replace mesh on the top with navy fabric matching with the pants.

All of these above!!!

Exactly! I think the black would look great. I didn't mind the blue pants that much until I re-watched the warm-ups for the long from SC. Those pants looked very much out of place with everyone else on the ice.

I think you will come down with a very bad sore throat on Thursday. ;)

Totally OT, but I just secured Hamilton tickets on the National Tour in Seattle. It took 50 minutes of trying different dates and prospects looked bleak and then Ticketmaster magically suggested a date and two tickets! OMG.

Anyway, I just watched Jason's SP to celebrate. :)

P.S. Jason mentioned in the video that the designer for his SP was Elena Pollack: http://www.ladudesign.com/pages/about-ladu-custom-designs.html
She also designed his SP costume from last year (and his Riverdance FS)
