Jason Brown

I’m just gonna be a broken record: where is he training next season? It will be so strange if he ends up back with Kori for their umpteenth season together, especially after not going to Worlds and pointedly not saying a thing about it. I mean he’s been super chatty about posting his moments of deep contemplation and adventures in Palm Springs and NZ and oooh SOI, but not a single thing about how sorry he was to have to decline Worlds or how excited he is for next season. Okay he clued us in that he’s getting a new Rohene short program. But they’re working at Monument while Kori just...happens...to..be..gone. It’s just weird. :drama:

Tavi, I think your beautiful post on the previous page where you suggested that Jason may be "rudderless" at the moment, still applies here. He may still be working things out.

FWIW, I don't think it's business as usual with Jason. He's working through something in his skating life that he's not ready to share yet. In a few weeks the Stars on Ice tour begins and Jason will be doing interviews / meet-n-greets so I won't be surprised if we get some answers soon.

Exactly. I do feel this is what's going on.

New Zealand is breathtakingly gorgeous and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering going. Of course, then you also ought to plan to hop a 3-hour plane ride across the ditch and come see me.

I'm glad the hair remains. I've had enough skating upheaval this season, let me have just this one thing

Why will it be strange? Why is Jason working with Rohene at Monument while Kori was obliged to be at Worlds weird?

Maybe I'm just too attuned to dealing with Max and Josh, but I just...can't see that as a big deal. I'm sure Jason had a reason for skipping Worlds. I'm still rather interested to know what the timeline was, when people knew, but Jason isn't obliged to tell us.

I do think you’re viewing Jason’s behavior through the lens of your experience with Josh and Max. I also think you’re interested in Jason’s withdrawal from Worlds primarily as it affected Max. Nothing wrong with that, but I think it’s one reason you may not understand my perspective.

Max, Josh, and Jason are very different people. Max has a total of 65 posts on Instagram. Josh has 33. Jason has over 1,000.

I’m sure there have been many times over the past few years when you’ve wanted to know the status of Josh’s injury. But you know Josh has rarely shared anything with his fans on social media. So it’s really just business as usual with him.

Jason, on the other hand, made a whole video about choosing Hamilton for his short program, and in fact, started a YouTube channel inviting his fans to follow his Olympic journey. How many times has he posted about being so excited to do x or y? He’s also shared difficult stuff this year - his NHK video (I think, or was it Nats?) discussed how disappointed he was. So while I don’t think Jason is “obligated” to share anything, his habit - unlike Josh’s - has been to share quite a bit.

It’s because he has recently been silent about other stuff that I think it’s weird he was in Monument when Kori wasn’t.

All those posts of him staring off into the distance and talking about the journey ahead.

All of those pictures of him in SoCal, some showing him training at other rinks - with no comment (in fact it was guesswork where he was, in contrast to a very clear announcement of his trip with Jordan to NZ).

Radio silence about declining the opportunity to represent the US at Worlds (in contrast to his posts regretting having to withdraw from Nats and NHK).

All of the rumors of him leaving Kori - which he must know about - left unaddressed.

Without those things, no, it’s not weird he was in Monument when Kori was gone. Looked at in light of other things, though, it is, at least for me.

I agree with Katmari that it’s not business as usual and he’s just not ready to share whatever is going on yet. As a fan, though, I still find it a bit frustrating.

ETA Rosa said it much more concisely than I did.

Thanks for posting, DinkyD, but I’ll be the one to say it:

The AirForce has a rink???

Haha. Quite a few skaters based in CoS use the Cadet rink when they need extra ice.

Yes, thanks, DnkyD! Were you there in person? Can you tell us what routines he was doing?

And just not bored forum posters are talking about Jason’s “do”...

In the comments section of Jason’s latest Froozer promotion, Jim Peterson asks “haircut ... or camera angle?”

I guess Jim has been too busy coaching to follow Jason’s NZ exploits (although since Tarah is at Disneyworld with BFFs Grant and Caroline, and Deanna and Nate were at the DSC, maybe Jim is vacationing too:) )

And Did you see Jason’s answer? :)

And Did you see Jason’s answer? :)

:agree:
Not until you posted: it appears we have confirmation it’s all camerawork from Jason himself. I guess Jim Peterson is important enough to answer;)
Maybe he’ll go train with Jim.....

He was working on his 2 show programs, and I believe I heard a new piece of music....surmised it was his new short.

Hi Dinky, thanks again for your info. Do you remember if the two show routines were "Hamilton" and "Dear Evan Hansen"?

I'll be at SOI in 2 1/2 weeks, so inquiring minds want to know.;)

Yes! The United States Air Force Academy has a FABULOUS rink!! Big, bright....and WARM....and open to the public:)

ooh that's exciting! do you remember what kind of music the new piece was? like if it was a fast piece or a slow piece? and the rink sounds wonderful! :)

Hamilton for sure but different from his competition rendition. Not familiar with Dear Evan Hanson so looked up his Nationals exhibition....it was not that piece of music so maybe he's doing something new for his 2nd number.

If I'm correct on "Can't Stop the Feeling"....this piece would be his 2nd show piece....not his new short. The new short sounded kind of modern and sophisticated. I'll pay more attention if he comes to the rink again this coming week:)

Truly appreciate the updates, Dinky D.:thank:

We'll be here when and if you have more to report:biggrin:
