It is kinda too bad he didn’t do Worlds cause he could’ve picked up some more WS points by finishing top 6 there, which was a realistic placement with that field. Still it’s pretty good.
He did get a lot of points from 4 Continents. How many more would he have if he was 6th at worlds? Looked it up: he would have 709 in place of his 680 from 4CC. So 29 extra points for a sixth, not enough to move him up in the standings over Bychenko. Of course, it would have been more if he'd done better.

As for Phil Hersh, I’m not surprised he is full blown Nathan in his review. Honestly Nathan caters to his worldview that what matters is that success medal winners with multiple quads and he can point to him to when people voice concerns about the difficulty of balancing tech and artistry. (I do find it ironic that it’s lost on him - or not — that Nathan’s Nemesis program is more compelling when a lot of the technical content is taken out.)
Jason has received plenty of rave reviews about his performance from lots of folks and doesn’t need Phil Hersh’s affirmation that he offers something to the sport. I kinda do understand his impatience regard Jason and quads. (Especially when you have someone like Nathan who is picking them up at lightning speed). A lot of people share that impatience. Heck we do here.

At least no boot or visible support.... I would add that just like many of us, Hersh had predicted good things for Jason's Olympic season. #affirmation
If he can stay healthy, don't be surprised to see the ever-optimistic Brown land his first quadruple jump in competition and improve on his ninth-place Olympic finish.

Just curious: Did Jason ever give any detail as to how he exactly he sprained his ankle? All I know is that it happened the day before SOI in Chicago.
I think there was an SOI review in which someone said (?that Jason said?) he hurt it on a jump during his second program in Detroit.

I remember that prediction. And since Jason fell short of that prediction, I expect that Phil will write him off at this point -- hence why I wasn't surprise (or particularly bothered) that he didn't talk too much about Jason in his SOI review. It's the typical sportswriter mantra -- Jason is out, Nathan is in.
I still don't understand why we're speculating that he's not competing? Didn't somebody tweet that he's working on new programs (and a description of what they're like?)? And there were reports of him at Air Force ice rink practicing the SP? And I don't see why he would go to all the trouble of working on a SP if he wasn't competing.
SOI is almost over, so I'm sure we'll know in a few weeks. (Or watch him post something like TODAY, just because you asked, lol.)
To be fair, I think I’m the only one speculating that he’s not competing. I have no rational basis for it.
If I'm correct on "Can't Stop the Feeling"....this piece would be his 2nd show piece....not his new short. The new short sounded kind of modern and sophisticated. I'll pay more attention if he comes to the rink again this coming week![]()
So why do it at all? All you're doing is spreading completely baseless rumours and stirring up scenarios on the thinnest of bases. It's not like Jason is Max, who spent most of the season dropping hints and thus speculation about his retirement was logical. I mean, Jason even announced a new SP, for goodness' sake.
All of the evidence points to him continuing next season and there's not even the smallest shred of evidence to suggest he'll sit it out.
That said, this is the longest "next week" ever.
Here's something different. In this video from Ice House in NJ from when Jason was there with Rohene last week, what do you make of the music? I know it could just be rink music, but any chance it could be Jason's SP music? The DinkyD poster who saw Jason at the Cadet Rink described the music as being "... kind of modern and sophisticated". I think this could be described that way, though to me, it sounds like electronic Celtic.
Here's the clip from the NJ rink.

Here's DinkyD's post from March 31.
Thoughts?
) and am now just talking out of my hat, but...
Cotton eyed joe comes to mind :eekn:
Not at all. Not at all.Enjoy your parlor grand. My piano needs tuning. It's too bad to play.

It sure doesn't sound like any "rink" music I've heard, although of course it could be the music of someone else at the Ice House.
On his latest IG post, he answered a comment with:Of all the skaters in the show, it was Jason who seemed to have the purest connection to the audience–who seemed to bring, and give, the most joy.
