Well if we are sharing video research... does anyone have any links to some commentary of Jason done by Tracy? I thought it might be fun to go back and look at what she ways saying about him before.

If I recall she really loved his FS at JWC in 2013 but sadly that video was taken down.

Here are two translated articles (original source in Japanese), one regarding Tracy's philosophy as a coach, another also about the training environment at the Cricket Club. These are articles published during Yuzuru's media day last summer so they are quite Hanyu centric in general, but I think it's an interesting read to get a feel of how the training environment would be like for Jason. I just can't stop smiling trying to picture Jason in Tracy's stroking class.

“Feel the Love for Skating” Tracy Wilson Interview
ー What is necessary for an experienced skater to feel the pure joy of skating, as skaters who’ve just started getting results do?

I think that is a good point. That is why I teach skating. I want [my students] to always remember the joy of skating on a blade. That will be a very important task [for me] in the coming season. We hold skating classes with everyone in the club together. This is so that everyone can experience and share the love and gratitude towards skating. When a skater can feel the ice firmly under their blades, their body “comes alive” (the movements become lively). As a coach, that is the goal I have in mind as I go about my day. As long as there is love towards skating, it will always be okay no matter what happens....

The Secret of Prestigious Champion Maker (TCC) where Hanyu Yuzuru Trains
Under Brian Orser, specialists such as skating coach Tracy Wilson, spin doctor Paige Aistrop are responsible for teaching their respective division. Hanyu stresses on the club’s merits, “It is great that the coaches bring a variety of opinions, watching my jumps. With regard to music too, everyone can share.”

One might think that in order to churn out star skaters with high levels of technique, [the club] would emphasize jump practices, but that is not the case. At the end of the day’s training, everyone wraps up with 15 minutes of skating practice.

---

ETA: another old interview from 2013 that I think give us some insight of how the team coaching system works within Cricket, this one was back from 2013 where Hanyu was mostly working with Brian, Tracy and David.

Tracy might actually be the tougher coach
Tracy explained, 'The formation of a skater is as same as horse racing, injury caused by too much forcing. It's necessary for Hanyu to build up the enough foundation of stamina.'. Tributing to stamina enhancement, Hanyu's requested by coach Tracy to take advantages of dumbbell and balance ball during on-ice training, which would remind Hanyu to skate efficiently with a clear notice of more weight on his skating blade.

Coach Tracy, a bronze medalist in ice dancing at the Calgary Olympics in 1988, whom seems a nice, easy-going lady but Hanyu shared his opinion 'she always asks me with a smile to do most difficult training that designed to increase my stamina, understandable.'

At the end of practice of the day that interviewing was taken, Tracy advised to Hanyu 'Cool down' while adopting a special training of using left and right foot alternately moving forward as two foot bending at same time, which made Hanyu was sighing 'it's as hard as physical(muscle) training!'.

Re: The Coaching Team
Three coach works perfectly and efficiently as a whole team, even they don't allocate time categorically. Javier Fernandez(Spain), bronze medalist in Men's single of Worlds Championships 2013 last season, is also another main skater they've been working with. The coaches can show up in front of different skaters subsequently afterwards, giving one-on-one guidance with efficiency.

As far as Brian Orser concerned, three coaches seems to talk to skaters randomly, but in fact, Orser said, 'We do mind the timing, that is very crucial, but an incredible tacit understanding growing on us leads to that we could feel the moment of 'you're up' without saying a word.' Orser and Tracy, whom leading up whole Canadian Figure Skating world back to 80s that they were not retired yet at that times, have known each other for almost 40 years since their teen ages. Contemporary with Orser and Tracy, David Wilson contributed in program choreography for both of Orser and Tracy. It feels like developing coaching career as a team lining up with three of them is the way of sustaining their green days.

If you can get your hands on the CBC (or was it TSN?) commentary for Skate Canada 2017, she was doing commentary then. Otherwise, I just recall the regular CBC crew for competitions Jason was in. I did a quick search but didn't find anything so far. I have it recorded though...

I did look for that (well CBC... forgot TSN... thank you) and like you came up lacking. I thought some on here might recall other comps she commented for. I do recall she was very flattering.

Tracy Wilson also used to do some commentary for NBC/Universal Sports, but I think that was before Jason became a senior.

I appreciate the Yuzuru fan archive on TCC, y'all. So much interesting information!

Also, Jason's using IG story a lot more! Did he buy a Canadian mobile phone plan already?! (Or is Toronto just super wired up?)

I'm very happy about it, and I have a feeling this will turn out to be great for Jason. I know he was in a very caring and nurturing environment before, and it was probably a hard decision to make, but sometimes what is needed is a change of perspective. (el henry - I keep thinking about that speech of Delenn's, you know? I think it was in A Distant Star.:))

....

You mean this scene, I think:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkhx3dGKz3k

And actually re-listening, it struck me how much of it was also applicable to Jason's experience at Nats, and what painful experiences were maybe necessary for the change in perspective.

OK, OT geeking out on Babylon5. But if it's not the Sixers, I don't know much about basketball

Thank you katmari! And watching that skate again reignited my wishes to see Jason do a purely classical program -- that program was literally the last time we saw one. Five years, crazy! It doesn't sound like the SP will be such, so I'm hoping David Wilson opts for something classical.

And Tracy sure loved his skating so much back then -- and his overall skating quality (along with steps/spins) have improved since then.

I agree about wanting to see Jason do a purely classical program. He hasn't done many warhorses in his career and I'd like to see a few interpreted in his unique style.

Yes, yes and a huge whopping YES for the return of a classical program for Jason!!!! The Liebestraum FP was the one where I fell in love with him initially. Not that I didn't enjoy the recent programs, but his beautiful style is so worthy of a good classical program. Just off the head in a few seconds, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Masquerade Waltz, Klein Nachtmusik and Für Elise sprang up in my mind :luv17:

YES! Also La boheme, Chopin, I will even take POTO. He has the skating skills to do any warhorse justice.

Fortunately, I downloaded Jason's 2013 JWC FS performance with Tracy commentary before it was taken down. ;)

Thank you so, so much for this! The quality is great, and I have always loved this performance. For me, Tracy’s appreciative commentary also adds so much to it (as did Scott Hamilton’s much-maligned commentary for the 2014 Nats Riverdance).

I’m glad he’s gone to train in a place where he has such a strong advocate. Interestingly, many of the things she commented on here - the flow, the transitions, the jumps out of nowhere - are things people mention in Yuzuru’s skating. People haven’t mentioned these things so much about Jason’s skating in recent years, so I’m really pleased that he’ll be focusing again on basic skating and looking forward to seeing how a different choreographer will handle him. It would be wonderful if he could eventually achieve Yuzuru level SS! Not to mention a Yuzuru level Ina Bauer! I know h can do them because I’ve seen them, so I’m always disappointed by the more perfunctory ones he usually does (though maybe it’s to protect his back).

Anyway, as a classical music lover I, too, would love to see him do something more in this vein again. I’d love to see if they could do something with Bach sonata no 1, the overture to Traviata, or even the overture to the Wagner Tristan und Isolde. I’m not fully sure they’d work, but I wish someone would try!

Final thoughts: Last night I read the article and listened to the podcast linked by Yoa above (still haven’t gotten to the stuff linked by Kelti) and they were really informative. Brian sounds like a great guy, and I can see why Jason and his family felt like this was the right place to move. Yes he’s a famous coach with World class students, but beyond that I think the team there shares their values - and Kori’s. Looking forward to seeing what happens.

I'm on vacation with limited internet and just found out Jason is officially going to BOrser&crew and AM SO EXCITED for Jason! Once all the rumors started that he was changing coaches, it was my dream he would go to CC- it's like all my favorite skaters under one roof. Traditionally I drop out of skating fandom after yhe Olympics. but it doesn't seem like the case this year! lol. *looks up info for 4CC*
