Jason Brown

Lol guys. I’m probably the biggest workaholic there is and I still “find time” to post silly photos on my IG.

All that said, I wouldn’t mind updates on training.

I still really love his Writings on Wall program and that costume. I think the designer also did his Hamilton costume? Theyre both so flattering - I hope they keep her for at least one of his programs this year!

I never tire of watching that program. I really love it and the costume.

I love ❤️ baby Jason videos but I’m really hoping he’s not posting so much extraneous stuff because he’s not really training? With Brian and David away, I worry maybe he’s being left to himself too much. Its probably not true but it would be great to hear something like, I loved my edge class today, or whatever.

Does anything know where Rohene is these days? Maybe Jason is with him working on the short. He certainly hasn't given anything away the past couple of days regarding location.

Mirai posted a photo of a poster on her twitter account - Ice Dreams Spectacular taking place on July 13th - Rohene, Karen Chen, Mirai, JeremyAbbott, Alysa Liu (if you've never seen her skate you're in for a treat) and Starr Andrews. I didn't go into it too much but I'm guessing it's in Southern California. The poster shows Rohene in a spangly costume. Doesn't mean he isn't choreographing but he must have taken some time off to work up his own program and practice.

The show in July is in Westchester County, New York.

Some of the headliners in the show also are involved in the weeklong camp leading up to the show.

(I do not know whether Rohene is in that category.)

What’s so funny is that even way back then his little baby flip was a strong easy jump! :)

I am an impatient fan! :drama:

I doubt Jason is "not really training" (and I suspect you are mostly joking so please don't take the following as a rebuke). He's posted bits of his training vids already as he's slowly working back to 100% and likely also beginning to address tech issues. In the videos I've seen him in (not just his vids, but ones by other TCC members) he seems to be working alongside other skaters coached by Lee Barkell: Stephen, Gabby, and Conrad (and maybe Corey too? it can be hard to decide who is who in the background). Lee is also one of the named coaches on Jason's team, so I doubt there is any slacking off if he's already tackling triples. I believe Tracy is in town and there are the specialists like Paige (spins) and Ghislain (jumps) who may be there as well (I know G was in Japan recently so not sure if he's returned yet) who may be part of the team put together for Jason. Each skater has a team created around them; it's just that Jason also has a team of coordinating coaches as well. Both Tracy and Lee have been working with Brian successfully as co-coaches for years, so I expect that means they know how to communicate and coordinate.

I'd be surprised if he visited David just for social reasons. I suspect J already has his choreo or at least has had a '"getting to know you" session that would help David and Jason come up with the new FP. Perhaps J and Evgenia will both be getting their choreo the same week once David returns from Japan? Boyang has his already thanks to Lori and I suspect Yuzuru will turn to Jeff and Shae-Lynn (or maybe someone new).

As for the extraneous posts, I suspect Jason is trying to keep positive as he comes back from his injury and adjusts to a new place. No matter how welcoming everyone is, he left his roots back in CO and IL. He is likely also energized by meeting new people and is clearly looking forward to meeting his new rinkmates who are not yet in TO.

If Jason starts editing numerous long, elaborate HD AMVs (anime music videos) with Evgenia and Yuzuru, then I might get worried about them being left alone too much.

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation, Haleth. :) This change is so new for Jason and Jason fans, it's good to hear from someone with experience who can orient us newcomers to the TCC. One of the reasons I'm liking the TCC environment for Jason is the team approach. When one coach (or two) are away, there are other coaches available to work with him on different aspects of his skating.

I've noticed on twitter that Corey has posted about Jason several times and is completely thrilled about sharing ice with him.

Of course I’m a Jason “auntie”, and proud of it:biggrin: plus since he actually confirmed his coaching change, we now need to speculate/yenta it up about something:laugh:

So to address a few points, I think the gossip site that shall not be named said that Rohene has left 7k??? He certainly has been peripatetic these past few months, but he has been in the past as well. And he does (some of) Courtney’s and Jordan’s choreo so certainly he would return for that?

And I don’t follow every skater under the sun, but has Jason been the only one, or the first one, to post about the new USFS slogan/program? That seems to be a good sign, USFS has not forgotten our boy:agree: (and no, I don’t seriously think they would have). But I have to admit, I liked “We Get Up” better.

I think "rebuke" is a pretty strong word but do feel like the Mommys in this thread are underestimating Jason. It doesn't make sense that he would move to Toronto, take on a new coach, and not be 'pedal to the metal' in prepping for the coming year.
Agree :agree:

Apart from that Jason has to be very careful with clips at TCC, since they have a very strict codex. The Spanish press had to beg on Yuzu to take a short clip of 5 or 10 minutes during their practice session some years ago. If I remember correctly, he particularly hates being filmed during practice.
So you could be in serious trouble, if anyone appears in your clip by coincidence. I can't imagine that Jason would risk to be thrown out because of something like that.

David Wilson is currently in Japan together with Brian, Jeffrey Buttle and the TCC triple Javi, Yuzu and Evgenia. I don't know how much time David has already spent with Jason, but they are definitely not working together at the moment. I think, it's going to be overcrowded at TCC in early July :drama::laugh:

Don't think that... seriously. I have been paying attention to this with Jason. The amount of his posts on social media really seem to be a reflection of his mental and training state. When he is doing good, we get lots of posts, and when i see lots of posts, he tends to do well at comps. We get radio silence from him before injury announcements or poor skates. I take the amount his is posting actually as a really really good sign that training is going well. If he goes quiet, I will start to worry. The amount he is posting is not that much more than in the past when he was doing well... it is just that I think he has been in a bit of a funk for a long time... he even said he was ready for a change before nationals.

I also think it's a pretty good sign that he's not as mysterious with the posts like he was around the Olympics period.

Also, he keeps saying "I'm not done yet." Multiple times. This sounds like someone who is invigorated and ready to do the work.

Also in the IG post he mentions he's going to post every Tuesday for the Dedication Works campaign...so it sounds like we'll see more Baby Jason clips!

Per my Instagram timeline, the lovely Madi Hubbell was the first USFS skater to use the #dedicationworks hashtag?

And Jason was a close second?
He also gets brown-ie ;) points for including an explicit reference/explanation regarding the USFS campaign.

In any case: Agreed that USFS has not (ever) forgotten Jason.

  I hope that it is only a coincidence and not that Tracy has been reading GS:

I was just coming in to see if this had been posted:laugh: Maybe Tracy also knows we need to start making up for the posts lost in the server migration?;)

And I believe that is the Japanese junior Shingo Niyihama <sp> behind Jason? He is such a cutie, and I'm sure he appreciates taking a stroking class with Jason:)

I think the wording of this might slightly be an overstatement  But essentially, yes, I guess there will be some restrictions once the season starts and we might see less of Jason on social media. So in that case, we have to keep in mond that the ‘restriction’ will probably be a confounder in the correlation between his social media activity and Jason’s state mentioned by the previous posters. In other words, let’s not worry too much if his activity decrease during the season :D

Unless it was in one of the posts lost in the aforementioned server migration, I do not think that anyone in the thread got around to mentioning IN's ongoing countdown of the 30 biggest stories of its existence? And Jason's addition to the list yesterday.

(Not criticizing anyone for not posting about it. I myself did not bother to mention it yesterday. The countdown as a whole has seemed to be a non-event on GS, which is fine by me.)

Today Phil Hersh tweeted for the first time (AFAIK) on his own about the countdown -- specifically to promote No. 18.

Hersh had retweeted IN's tweet about No. 26, the Evan-Johnny tiebreaker. But today is the first tweet of Phil's own about the countdown.

(Lest anyone wonder: The old IN articles about No. 18 that are linked in the countdown are not written by Hersh. His tweet is not self-promotional.)

This post got eaten yesterday, so I'm trying to recall what my main points were:

*insert joke about what will happen if you cause me to dream of Jason dancing with the MPR!raccoon*

I looked at the Twitter account and that's a different Corey. The one I was referring to was Corey Circelli, who is training in both singles with Lee and ice dance with, erm, I forget, probably Andrew? Here's a photo of him and the rest of Canada's national team of juniors, which was just updated on Tuesday. So there's also new pics of Jason's younger Canadian rinkmates, Stephen, Conrad, Alison, and Bruce & Natalie (ice dance): https://skatecanada.ca/nextgen/

So I'm pretty sure your Corey is a club member (or son of one). It looks like he went to a school in Forest Hill, which means his family can almost certainly afford the steep regular membership fees. Don't worry though, the elite skaters likely don't pay that and instead are charged for normal costs you'd expect for an elite skater like ice time, etc. Corey G seems like a nice guy and adult skater!

Jason, please remember not to gang up too much on poor Stephen with Yuzu and pinch his cheeks too often, no matter how cute he is. It's difficult to be the baby skater!*

* = this is a joke as we know how affectionate Jason and Yuzu are with Shoma. I am sure both will be applauding Stephen as he starts his first year as a junior in international competitions.

Yes, I believe that is Shingo Nishiyama next to him! And maybe Stephen G is next to last in line? Cute photo. Shingo was worried about not making friends at TCC since his rinkmate Junwhan was gone much of last season with injury/Oly. Hopefully he and Jason get to hang out a bit since they are both living with host families.

You just know that if Jason was a Disney character he'd befriend all the animals and that dancing with a ninja skyscraper climbing raccoon is totally something he would do. ;)

Ah, that explains it. Corey G. was one of the first people I noticed to post about Jason at the Cricket Club so when you mentioned Corey, I assumed we were talking about the same person. It's great that so many up and coming nextgen skaters are training together at TCC and can challenge / encourage each other. Not to mention the inspiration they receive from training around some of the top skaters from around the globe.

  I hope that it is only a coincidence and not that Tracy has been reading GS:

Love it!

Jason mentioned in today's instastory that a new video will be up soon and that he bets we can guess what it's about. Since his message is on a photo of the Stars on Ice cast and he comments about how much he misses them, I'm guessing it will be about his SOI experience.
