Jason Brown

Ah yes, the obligatory team-building cooking class. The interview Jason and Grant did a couple of years ago was so great - where is the stuff like that? Although I suppose that came after the cooking class so maybe I’m just too impatient. (Who, me? 😇)

Lynn R seemed to have a lot of her focus on pairs and Bradie, so I’m wondering if that’s what her articles will be about. Jackie Wong is posting his countdown videos. Dave was posting gymnastics stuff and now he’s putting up practice vids from 2016. Olyphil is posting political stuff. Neither of the Nicks is posting anything remotely related to skating. I guess with the demise of Ice Network, people who used to write for them have cut the cord.

Lynn mentioned in the replies that she talked to Gracie and that she was working on a story on Skating magazine about her, so me thinks she'll have similar stories on the other skaters. I mean Jason has a new coach, new training location new programs and a billion other changes (new hair, lol) --I would find it hard to believe that she wouldn't do a story on him.

I get the sense from the IG stories I've seen from various folks (most of them were in World arena) that there has been a LOT Of monitoring today and yesterday, so there wasn't a lot of chances for Sora and the other coms folks at USFS to do much. I bet we'll see more stuff as we get closer to the end.

Oh that’s good news - hope you’re right. I am really eager to hear about Gracie - and actually quite a lot of the others as well as Jason.

Apparently the dish they're making is called the "Side-Eye Stirfry."

Which is exactly the look some are giving him for the lack of skating-related information.

Also I did it again: In the group photo with the rest of the U.S. men, I was like "Where's Jason?" That's going to get old quick, I'm sure. Tarah was right...

Wow, in Jason’s Story of him cooking with Jimmy, where it shows his profile, he looks so much like his brother! And the back of his head is on full display! I really like this cut. :)

Last year, you had Adam, Ross, Max and Grant there, plus Jason, Vincent and Nathan. So it’s really only one person less.

We have fewer guys with two assignments - all of the above group but Ross had two. This time just four- Jason, Nathan, Vincent and Alexei. Jimmy (assuming he’s the tbd) and Alex J. have one.

And just like that, Jason is the veteran of the GP among them. (Alex Johnson has been around longer, but making his debut just this season.) Jimmy Ma is actually close in age with Jason, he’s about a year younger. Alexei is close in age as Vincent, about a few months older.

So I think it feels different for sure.

Yeah I thought it was probably something like that. Since this past quad was when I first started watching US men’s skating, the guys who are now gone + Jason were the ones that defined it for me. Changing of the guard is inevitable, but it’s an adjustment not to see those familiar faces, especially because it felt like so many left at once.

By the way did you see the Molly Yeh comment on his Instagram post?

I did see the Molly Yeh comment!

This kind of reminds me of post-Vancouver Olympics, when Evan and Johnny essentially left (they both came back or attempted to come back, but not for very long. I wasn’t a super active fan until the end of that quad, but it was clear those two were basically the faces of the previous quad with Jeremy Abbott coming up during the last season or two. Adam Rippon was where Jason was post-Sochi and Nathan and Vincent are now. Jason, Josh, Max, Grant and Ross were all active juniors or newly minted seniors, kind of equivalent to Alexei K., Camden, Andrew, Tomoki et al.

Post-Sochi we didn’t have a ton of retirements.

Full competitor list isn't out yet, but the USFSA International Assignments page lists Jason as assigned to the Autumn Classic (which, most folks figured, but nice to have it confirmed).

I'll reserve my full judgment until I see the whole outfit -- it's kind of hard to visualize since we only have the top and the photo is kind of grainy. The colors and design is interesting though....

Here's a brief glimpse of Jason's possible/probable SP outfit thanks to Alex Johnson's IG story (and JasonBrownFanPage for exporting it to twitter):

I'd say that looks very promising (sparkly! yay!) but we'll see how it looks when we have the full costume. Hopefully the pants aren't in that shade of red which is gorgeous but would be way too much for the whole thing.

Hope he learned his lesson from last season. ;)

Well, to be fair, the white athletic socks and black trainers don’t exactly show it off in its best light. :)

I’m having nightmare flashbacks to last year’s blue velvet onesie and the monstrosity that was his first Piano costume. :slink:
