You guys, what he did in the SP was really amazing. And I was thinking.

He’s been there about 6 months. Yesterday he had a stunning SP. It showed he has the concentration to handle his new technique in a 7-element program with 3 jumping passes, 3 spins, a step sequence. The FS adds 5 more elements - 4 jumping passes and the choreo sequence. So in another 6 months or so, maybe he’ll have the concentration to sustain the new technique through 12 elements (7 of which are jumping passes) in the FS. And then in another 6 months...the quad.
 
I think it could be sooner than that, Tavi, especially if he takes a massive confidence boost from the silver here.
 
Does anyone have a link to a video of the Men's Medal Ceremony. I had to run out as soon as Jason's scores were announced. I can't find the content on NBC Gold or Youtube. I'd just like to see it!

On my iPad and can’t link, but @Oatmella was kind enough to post a YouTube vid of the medal ceremony in the Nathan FanFest.

Jason of course looks like sunshine happiness and emotion.:)

The plastic squares passing for medals look like the French Fed picked them up at a KMart blue light sale, even worse than last year:disapp:

That split screen of Orser with Jason's 3A-2T-2Lo gets me every time he looks like such a proud papa!

And I just wish there were more of that Hazy Shade of Winter step sequence! Just gorgeous! Such commitment! :gaah: and yet only level 3. Still A season's best and a silver...so happy for Jason!

As for the level 3. It looks like he fell out of the double twizzle at 4:21 of that video. The standard is 11 difficult varied clean turns and if he missed one, it would be marked down to level 3 - the overall feel and execution of the step sequence is fine, of course.
 
A big high five to Jason! What a skate!...Today was a travel day for me. While in the airport, I wondered if I could possibly get NBC Gold while I waited for my flight. I did get it, and I had the good fortune to be just in time to see Jason, Nathan, and Samarin skate. I was so happy! Everything looked as smooth as butter, and he had such great confidence. I'm so happy for him, and to make the podium must be such a thrill for him.

Thank you so much for posting these. The medal ceremony was kind of hilarious.Juggling that silly blue plaque, the watch and the flowers was truly funny. And Jason never stopped smiling. Brian and Tracy looked so proud and happy. I think this competition erased any lingering doubts that Brian had about whether or not Jason fit in with the others. They all seem comfortable with one another now. It was an exciting and very positive weekend! Can't wait for the next competition!

When I looked at the replay, I did notice something happening that wasn't right, that must have been the double twizzle. But I think he also didn't have his usual ice coverage either. It felt a little rushed and so not as precise as usual. They'll fix that. It wasn't perfect, but it was good and it was good enough! It keeps getting better and better.
 
But the loop, the loop!!!! He spent at least a year popping that stupid jump! And now it has that beautiful exit!

By the way, do you realize that if he’d gotten the level, no < and skated clean no pops, even with 2A, he would have scored about 172-73 with no extra GOE? Meaning his total score would have been close to 270? And he didn’t get as good GOE in this program (rightly, due to errors) as he did in SP?

I am interested to see the strategy for Golden Spin (and who goes with him). :)

I was thinking about the Loop and how much he's slayed it lately! Jason talked a bunch how he wanted to worked ALL his jumps from the ground up, and the Loop, IMO was one of the major beneficiaries. With his toe jumps, he could get away with some delay in rotation, but that is not really the case with his edge jumps.

Actually, all three of his triple edge jumps look really good - the salchow, loop and axel. I can see why they are opting for the 4S, the 3S (which also has a very nice exit in this program) looks really good and it's really clear that he's taken on to the new technique with that jump quickly.

I have like six trillion thoughts, but today has been such a busy day...not just skating, but with life lol. I'm sure I'll drip them down here in a bit.

Agree on the edge jumps - he’s struggling more with the toe jumps now. I love this guy’s photos of Jason - especially the moody dramatic profile ones. Look forward to hearing more of your thoughts when life calms down.

Do anyone of you have any link to his FS and SP performance with commentaries from Euro sport, NBC or CBC? Unfortunately I cannot access the videos on their site even when I used Hola. :sad4: Thank you in advance.
