I think the Olympic pressure really got to Jason last year. This year he'll probably have a little different pressure, what with wanting to show the fruits of his new training environment (even though the situation is still relatively new). Medaling at IdF and Golden Spin were hopefully confidence builders for him. At Sk Can, he didn't quite seem as if he believed yet in his Simon & Garfunkel FS, but he seemed to "sell" it much better at IdF. I DO feel we will see something special in Detroit.

Had to pop in and say a quick Happy New Years before I become too engrossed in the Twilight Zone marathon. Hope most of you are faring better than me with a current temp of 10 deg F and ice, snow and wind in lovely CO.
I just saw that Nick Verreos has posted his Men's costume reviews for 2018. Both of Jason's costumes received positive comments, even the dreaded LP shirt.
If you're interested you can read about it here. I found myself agreeing with most of his comments on the other men as well. Speaking of the LP shirt, I've spent the last several days recovering from the flu and watched a bunch of Riverdale (thanks to my son) and Mrs. Maisel. I'm positive I saw several versions of this shirt in both of these shows. And I still don't hate it.

I love to see the smiles on Jason's family it is so genuine. Very heartwarming, its really great to find positive vibes as much as we can.

Oh my gosh, feeling nostalgic now that we've said good-bye to 2018. Going through some of my older Twitter photos and deleting stuff. Just can't bring myself to delete this one of Jason with his silver medal from Sk Amer 2016. This was when they couldn't get him to leave the ice because he was signing so many autographs, allowing so many selfies, photos, etc.

Thanks for the head’s up, although much of the fluff was not new to old fans (see what I did there?
) still interesting to hear and watch.But whose idea was to have the walking interview? What do they think this is, a West Wing episode? Made me dizzy

Ross Miner gets no respect, even from me! Last week when I posted about how I would miss retirees at USA Nationals, I left off Ross Miner. Of course, I will miss seeing him, too.
Ross is important to remember because he was a skater who seemed to grow into himself, getting better with age. Last year he may have been at his best. That is inspiring; maybe Jason will continue to do the same.

el henry, loved the Mayor Brown of Cricket Town photo. Since all things on Golden Skate relate to Jason Brown in my mind, I imagine you and spouse walking to Kim's Convenience in Toronto. Is it ok to ask what does the "closed Nastia account comes back under another name" comment mean? If not, ignore me.

The Challenger Series of 2018 illustrates the fun of numbers in Figure Skating. I’ll provide a list of the top overall scores (their top two scores combined):
1. Mikhail Kolyada 527.51
2. Junhwan Cha 498.97
3. Jason Brown 498.65
4. Dmitri Aliev 475.50
(Although I just want to talk about the top three men, I included Aliev for perspective.)
Kolyada has the best overall Challenger score with 274.37 at Nepala Trophy.
Cha beat Brown at Autumn Classic in Canada, with a resounding 259.78 over Brown’s 233.23.
Although Kolyada (250.58) beat Cha (239.19) at Finlandia, Cha’s score of 259.78 at the Autumn Classic is higher than Kolyada at Finlandia or Golden Spin (253.14).
Jason beat Kolyada by 10 points in the final Challenger, Golden Spin (263.42 over 253.14). However, Kolyada beat Jason in the Short Program at Zagreb.
So during the Challenger Season, first Junhwan Cha won over Jason (ACI, Canada), then Kolyada won over Cha (Finlandia), and finally Jason won over Kolyada (GSZ, Croatia). (Incidentally, all three of the top men competed against Aliev, and beat him).

For whatever reason, Fanzone won't let me play the videos. I get a "disable your ad blocker" message and nothing happens. I've disabled every ad blocker that I can find and nothing makes it work. So I have given up. If this shows up anywhere else, please post.

A YouTube account with a name like NastiaFan posted Jason’s Riverdance routine right after he skated it at US Nats. And had a lot of other skating vids. That was the Riverdance video that got millions of views. YouTube shut it down at some point and all those millions of views went with it
I am making the totally unsupported guess and surmise that since this account has Nastia in its name, it might be the same person.
Eventually it shows up on the USFS YouTube channel but haven’t seen it there yet.

Not sure if this will help, but I usually access most stuff on my iPhone, on which I have Malwarebytes installed. The last time a video was posted, I had to temporarily disable Malwarebytes in order to watch the Fan Zone video.

I think I can play it on my Ipad, but it's apparently out of battery charge at the moment. I'll recharge and play it there. Sometimes the Fanzone videos work, but mostly they don't, especially when they are first launched. It's frustrating. I disabled my Chrome ad blocker, and got lots of ads, but still couldn't play the video. So enabled the ad blocker again. I had been thinking just yesterday that it had been a while since Jason blogged and kind of expected something to come out before he went back into full time training. Sad to hear that original Riverdance video on Youtube got pulled. It was amazing! I sent a link to everybody I knew. That was the day I became a serious fan.

Just not NastiaFan101 or whatever he/she called herself. And I remember the Nastia part because I had no idea who that was (gymnastics is not my thing) and I had to look it up.
But the views that NastiaFan had do not carry over to the vids up now

It's probably the equivalent of Simone Biles telling me about her season. I know she won stuff but I have no idea about what international competitions are out there or what she does during them. It's probably aimed at casual U.S. skating fans that don't necessarily follow everything about Jason or even international competitions.

As for the walking, it was understandable to me as a producer's choice to take advantage of the scenery (which I enjoyed
) and to avoid a talking-head-ish shot (which could be perceived as more boring and less creative).Perhaps also a more suitable approach than limiting Jason's energy to one position.
For me, the slight awkwardness was easily outshone by the ambience of Jason sharing his happy place at the ranch.
I did find myself thinking about Jason's interest in doing things for NBC at some point. Whenever the time comes, bringing a little experience at this type of walk-and-talk won't hurt.
I also hope that the video shoot did not take too long and was not too much of a "work" interruption during Jason's short vacation with extended family. Good thing that he probably will get to see a number of them again soon enough at Nats.
