Jason Brown

I'm a bit torn on Jason going back to China with Brian and Tracey. There must be an element of respect involved in them wanting to have him there, so that's good. And it's good experience for him and good that he won't be completely removed from his coaches for that time period. But at the same time, it's not the same as training full time for a week, especially with the travel time and jet lag figured in, coming and going. I just hope he has his choreo done by that time so he can start getting it in his head. Whatever. I'm stressed about other things today. It's probably mostly a good thing. :2thumbs:

ETA: Also, Jason said Brian and Tracey would be going over to China for 4 sessions. Is that during this season? Seems like a lot of time to be away.

I think it's a good thing. Jason can actually benefit from the training sessions with Chinese skaters and it's a good measure of the confidence Brian and Tracy have in Jason that they invited him to do this. I do believe that a variety of experiences makes for a better skater. And the more Jason and Brian get to know each other, the better the coaching experience. I am super glad that Jason got this opportunity. And I think that Jason needs to train, but not overtrain. The benefits of this kind of experience outweighs staying home and training constantly. And I am excited to see if he bonds with the Chinese skaters. I think that would be great.

I had mega stress over the past few days. Seeing Jason so calm, articulate and clearly comfortable, is a great stress reliever. He's terrific PR for Brian and Tracy's coaching methods and group.

I like the music too and wouldn't mind Jason skating to this or something similar in style next season. :)
 
I only heard Jason say he might return in June? But even a taskmaster like me, these are the experiences that make up being an elite skater. I might not like dancing through the Alps, but this seems well worth it. He won’t be a competitive skater forever :sad21: and this is part of what he will look back on.

The Spanish influenced guitar theme was lovely, but if they repeated it one more time, I was going to :bang:

Hope your stress is short-lived. Mine just made me MAD. Have you ever taken a perfectly good good car in for a brake check only to agree to have new spark plugs installed, one of which explodes in the shop and destroys your engine. I have no car and may have to buy a new one. I'm mad mostly at myself for agreeing to let them do it. :mad: In consolation, hubby has offered to take me to see the Avett Brothers anyplace they are playing, since they're sold out in CO. :) Anyone heard of George, WA. Yeah, try looking that up. :laugh: Well that might be where we end up and if we do, hubby can cross the last of the 50 states off his list.

To make this Jason related, we're also thinking of going to Sun Valley for my birthday which happens to be the day after Jason skates there. ;)

I’ll try to distract you: I have a high school friend, reconnected on Facebook, who is an avid member of what she calls “Avett Nation”. She plans her vacations to go see them. She meets up with other Avett Nation people. A band I had never heard of until four years ago, and now twice;)

Still haven’t heard any of their tunes. Not even You and me and whatever. But maybe Jason will skate to them someday and then I will :) Maybe his new, we hope, exhibition at Sun Valley?

Well, my stress is not quite that bad. But it was close. Dramatic episode at church with husband taken to hospital by ambulance last Sunday and then 4 days in hospital. So hours of time spent calling doctors, talking to doctors, going to and from hospital etc. He's out now and back to being a full time job for me. But not a time and a half job. Having a garage kill your car is pretty bad! What on earth did they do?

Just when you think you've got all you can handle and get it under control, stuff happens. You just keep going....and eat chocolate.
 
Bookseller, so sorry to hear about your hubby! How scary! Hope he continues to recover well. My stress was just an inanimate object.

A piece of an exploding spark plug (the newly installed one probably had a crack) went into a cylinder and into the engine where it did major damage.

I highly recommend Lindt's Dark Chocolate Chili Bar. Not particularly healthy, but oh so good! I think things will be ok here. They're changing his meds and we're seeing all his doctors. Nothing life threatening, just medical management. But combine it with all the complexities of life, it's a challenge! I actually stopped at the local Rite Aid on the way home from the hospital on Monday, and they were out of the chocolate chili bar. It was so unfair! I have since acquired one.

I actually probably would have a major meltdown if that car issue happened to me. I can manage the medical profession and my husband. But losing a car is beyond awful! That would have been the straw that broke the camel's back! I am so sorry that happened!
 
Ross74: so sorry about the car... auto mechanics are the bane of one's existence!! Hope the garage is prepared to assist with the new auto... :dev2:

Bookseller: Lindt Dark Chocolate is indeed healthy..:biggrin: it is medicine actually. Recommend a bit of it everyday. :slink: that and a mega dose of Jason sunshine!!
 
I had two squares of dark chocolate chili bar today. And a really, really good blueberry scone! And a bit of a road trip. It definitely helps.

I just saw this. So funny! I love their music. They've been here in Denver (Red Rocks) maybe every year we've been here for 3 days at the end of July, including my birthday, but we've never been able to go. Depending on our schedule, we may just pay a ticket broker and stay put. Seeing them (or anyone) at Red Rocks would be my preference. We're going to be in Rapid City on July 4th and it would be easy to get back for the July 7 concert. At the same time, I'm going stir crazy sitting at home and would love to hit the road for a month or more. I was initially excited to see they were going to be in Toronto (my on-topic comment ;) ) because we love that city and haven't been in a few years, but it's part of a music festival and that's not the experience I'm looking for.

One of my absolute favorite pieces of music. I know Jason will skate beautifully to it. Hope the choreo lives up to Jason’s talent and the great music (the snippet that Jason posted though was gorgeous - that Ina Bauer :luv17:)
