Jason Brown

Hi @Tavi, I also got the Jason post with this link.:scratch2: You can always try going to Winterhawks FSC which has posted the story.

Truly no surprise that he loves and is confident with the flip. His is a thing of beauty.

Maybe it’s cause I’m on my phone. I went directly to the post now I know who posted it do thanks. Quad flip, hunh?

Hi Zaki - were you trying to link to a specific post? When I click on the link it just takes me to my own instagram feed. If you want to link to a specific post, find the post, click on the little dots in the upper right of the post, click copy link, and then paste the link here. :)

Hi Tavi, I'm so sorry there is a problem with the link even if I did as you said. :( Anyway, it is a nice video where Jason says that he loves the flip. It's his favorite jump. :) Maybe you can find it yourself looking for winterhawksfsc instagram account :D

EDIT:

Oh, I remember an interview with Meryl Davis last november where he said that during the summer he was training 4T, 4S and 4F! I was so excited to hear about the flip because I love that jump too and his 3F is a thing of beauty. The interview was done after Skate America 2019. I uploaded the interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_04oYIee1c He talks about the quad flip around 23:40.

I'm sure Orser himself also mentioned it at one point. I have no doubt he'd be capable, that triple is such a thing of effortless beauty, with all the time in the world for another rotation.

What a meltdown the world would have if Jason busted out a quad flip next season!

OMG, YESSSS!!! (I'm hoping for a 4F at the Olympics! :luv17:)

and Elladj's comment:

Holy criminy - Jason can dance! I mean really dance. Just watched all 3 videos. Okay - now I want to see him on Dancing With The Stars. (don't laugh)

And number four in the dances from Jason's basement series:biggrin:

(and note the artistic B&W filming? Quite the esthetic:yes:)

I'm impressed with what a good dancer he is. He's as good off skates as he is on them. That wasn't obvious before. I think this was another gift from TCC. The skaters take dance classes. And he's good! I hope he keeps doing these. I like the black and white too. Fewer distractions, so you concentrate on the movement. I think that's one reason I tend to prefer him in black. The body positions and movement really contrast with the ice, but with little distraction. It's pure somehow. He really could do ice dance! I noticed at the SOI show that I went to, that the two best male dancers were Jason and Charlie White. The other's couldn't compare at all. And Jason seemed more fluid than Charlie, but they both had great musicality and presence on the ice.

At first I thought this was just a sweet Mothers' Day tribute to his grandmother:

but Jason's grandmother Norma Brown passed away yesterday.:sad21: (not linking to the online obituary, just because, but it's out there). She and Jason's grandfather were married 70 years. What a difficult time to have a family member pass.

May her memory be for a blessing:pray:

That is sad. Very difficult time indeed! I'm glad that she had a good life with a great family. But she'll be missed! They are such a close family!

Lilah Fear's podcast interview with Jason

I just started listening and it's very good!

It's a phenomenal interview. I am so impressed by her interviewing skills, but he was also very open and candid and covered a lot of ground that hasn't been covered before, both on and off the ice. Highly recommend taking the time to listen! Thanks Ross74! I'm going to listen to her other interviews also, but not today. Spending an hour plus with Lilah and Jason was a wonderful break in my day!

Hands up if you cried or nearly cried when he talked about 2018 and missing the Olympics.

*flings both hands in the air*

This interview is honest and interesting and I think even long term Jasonites will learn something new, (I still have twenty minutes to go, if I'm not commuting to work, no time for an hour podcast:biggrin:)

But for example, so far:

About 2018: I really fell apart at the US Championship, I was a shell of a person, not in a good mental place. :sad21:

When I turned down Worlds, for the first time I was taking control, speaking up for myself.

Conversation with Kori was hard, but I needed to find out who I was on my own.

I'm coachable to a fault.

Of course, in his manner of speaking, he's still Jason ;)

"I'm coachable to a fault!" Really telling comment. One could read volumes into that statement. I also think his close relationshp with Kori caused him a lot of consternation.

BUT - so far it's all worked out.

All of the above. I had never heard him talk about his chances for the 2014 Olympics before. He mentioned that prior to Nats, he had the highest short program score of the US Men, so he knew that it wasn't out of the realm of possibility that he could be considered for the team. Riverdance sealed the deal. Of course, since I didn't know he existed before that 2014 Nats skate, I knew none of the backstory at that time.

I don't think I ever heard the story of how he found out he'd made the Olympic team before. I knew he had gotten a text on his phone, but it sounds like it was soon after the end of the competition and he was still backstage with lots of people around.

It's well worth taking the time to listen. I'll probably listen again to catch anything that I may have missed.

It really was an excellent interview. Looking forward to listening to her other interviews as well.

I don't have iTunes so the sound on my computer was pretty bad. BUT - the questions were great, the segues were great, and I was again struck by how articulate Jason is when his enthusiasm settles down and he's just in communication mode. He's a very introspective young man, totally in tune with his feelings, and not afraid to bare them. I liked what he said about hoping people would realize that artistry is very difficult and that it presents another way to win (my words...) I remember the first time I saw him competing at Nationals he was introduced as a member of the Figure Skating academic list (again, my words, don't know what it's called) but he really far surpassed that. Whew. What a guy!
