Jason Brown

I'm full of anticipation for Jason at Nats. But also a little worried. He and the ice dancers have to cross the borders, stay healthy and figure out how to manage quarantines and skating fitness. Neither Jason nor Chock and Bates have competed in almost a year, so this is going to be a challenge. But I am certain that Jason will be well prepared. We still don't know what the coaching situation will be, but I'm assuming that Tracy will travel with Jason. It's less than 2 weeks away!

The moment draws closer and I am starting to panic, will there be a live stream option aside from NBC and the Japanese one? I do remember I managed to watch in previous years but I can't remember how and where! 😱

They haven't mentioned another option so far. One might appear. Are you geo blocked from signing up for Peacock Premium? Maybe use a VPN? I'm buying Peacock just for this. I have to see Jason live, or as much live as Peacock gives us. They're going to include commercials. I miss Icenetwork! It was so nice! They actually broadcast live, showed everything in real time and sometimes there was no commentary, which was actually good. It was more like being there. When they did have commentary, it was pretty good. It wasn't the usual NBC hype.

I am not familiar with Peacock, but I used Kaspersky Secure Connection to dodge geoblock last season, but it's an annual subscription and I opted against renewing it considering the situation. I also feel the need to see Jason in real time, so I might have to bite the bullet and re-subscribe in the worst scenario, but still hoping for a free option that might pop up before the competition.

NBC doesn't like to give things away. And US Figure skating lives on rights money. Japan obviously paid them. Peacock is not available outside of the US yet. It's eventually going to be available in the UK, but so far that doesn't seem to have happened. I saw some indication that they might be blocking VPN, but you might be able to get the Japanese feed that way. NBC doesn't support all streaming platforms for this either. It's not available universally in the US either. They support Roku, but apparently not Amazon Firestick. It's not the best way to increase interest in figure skating. It needs to be more available.

Last year I just found an illegal stream of NBC gold on some random sports channel lol and watched that - I'm guessing that won't be an option with Peacock? I'm hoping that someone on another site will come up with the goods to watch outside the US - will post links if I find any! No way I'm missing Jason even if it involves the usual of staying up till 1am because of time zones!

They are! They were the good commentators on Icenetwork also. Olympic channel isn't doing live coverage of this year's nationals. They will probably have replays.
What?! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Day ruined. 😭

I guess an illegal NBC stream is where it's at, then...

For those who are on Facebook, keep an eye on the group "International Figure Skating Club" - they have been streaming some events which were difficult to access, including Japanese Nationals. So I am putting my hope on them, fingers crossed that they will stream Mens events, as their main concerns seem to be the ladies events.

I can't believe skaters start arriving in a week! 🙀 I guess this is really happening.
It looks like it. We should be getting a post from Jason on his way if he does what he usually does. Hopefully both Skate Canada and USFS are co-ordinating to get the Canadian training groups down here and back.

You'll be able to see replays for sure. Illegal feeds are your only hope for live coverage. NBC is really rigorous about policing that. They pay USFS a lot for exclusive rights. They really should offer a subscription to International fans for their Ice channels. They are very provincial.

Look up USF’s - they have a list of times and dates to watch the competition (senior) on NBC. The other way is through Peacock which you can rewatch.

The people who are agonizing over the live coverage live outside the US and don't have access to Peacock and NBC. So far the only international access is through Japanese Television. They can look at Peacock all they want, but they can't actually see anything on Peacock. That is what the discussion is about. Those of us who live in the US have several options. Jason's fans from Europe and Australia have no legal options at the moment that anyone knows about.

Yeah, I'm in the UK, Karne is in Australia and I know there are other non-US-based Jason fans here! I can't get Peacock, even if I used a VPN I can't sign up because I don't have a US-based address (or US credit card) so I don't imagine that would work. Also sketchy about putting any card details through a VPN anyway. So ripped streams are my only hope of seeing Nats live. I don't think the QQ guy does US Nats as that was how I watched the Japanese Nationals, and ofc the Russian Nationals were streamed worldwide on youtube which was obviously the easiest.
Fingers crossed as Nats gets here streams will pop up somewhere and will be shared!

I hope so! There is a lot of interest, which both RussFed and Japanese Fed seems to understand. USFS maybe hasn't really grasped that fully. I think the issue is mostly NBC. In Japan and Russia, television is government supported. NBC wants exclusive content and wants to be paid well for allowing others to watch. I believe that is the source of the problem. Which makes people want to pirate the content, since they won't share it.

MGStyle said above that the FB International Figure Skating Club (IFSC) had reliable streams during the Russian comps and may offer something during US Nationals ... membership in the Club is required ... not a big deal... and the site is worth following.
