Jason Brown

A new article about Jason, with some new information, including some of the sweetest stories about Jason and Grant Hochstein's friendship:

Jason Brown Builds Friendships Across the Globe

Also Jason and Zhenya, Jason and Stoke (that one I didn't know) and Jason and the Chinese team.

ETA: good to see that autocorrect changed "Satoko" to Stoke:biggrin:

Since we've worn out the topic of how tall Jason is, cemented the notion that he is probably the sweetest, nicest guy in skating - how about suggesting music we'd like to see him skate to? Since I'm always impressed with his musical interpretation, and as long as you dont' mention Carmen, I'm open to warhorses. I actually would like to see him skate to the theme from Legends of the Fall. I tried to get a cut to post but just ended up charging the whole album to my Apple account when I only wanted the one song! Clearly I'm doing something wrong!~

Well to be fair, the article is also about how nice Grant is. But this isn't Grant's FanFest

I've never really given much thought to "what should Jason skate to". Maybe because my musical knowledge is limited. But also because Rohene, at least, always comes up with something I never would have thought of, might not like originally, and then come around to. :)

Hard to imagine Grant not liking Jason, but not hard to imagine that Jason had no idea! It didn't take him long to be won over. One of my best memories of Nats 2018 was at FS practice that morning. Grant was already there and Jason came in a little later. Jason immediately went over to Grant and they hugged and talked. It was clear that they were good friends. I kind of want to see Jason do a new version of Riverdance, but he won't. And he honestly probably shouldn't unless he does it in an ice show. But there is so much to explore. I am certain that whatever Jason and Rohene come up with together is so much better than anything I could think of. Happy that he's keeping programs for this year. But I do realize that he is going to have to be spectacular in SL because he was pretty spectacular the 1st time around. And I am certain that he can be very spectacular. It's likely to become a signature piece like Riverdance.

I will digress, though and add that Suni Lee's performance this morning was so special and so good! She's amazing and deserves every good thing that happens to her! Grace under pressure!

So many have said a Latin themed program might work for Jason. I have always thought he might do well with this song sung by Johnny Mathis, a soft sort of melancholy ballad and it might be a piece Rohene would like … could be mixed with the same song masterfully done on guitar by Baden Powell..

Oh, I love Johnny Mathis' Manha de Carnival. ♥️I think it may be a bit slower than what folks who were talking Latin programs for Jason.

It could always be mixed with Aqualero do Brasil. Johnny does that live, and it's quite a crowd pleaser

I was also thinking of Concerto de Aranguez - even tho Patrick Chan already skated to it. I love Patrick's skating but I honestly think Jason would do the piece justice. It might not be appropriate for competition music but it could be really nice for an exhibition.

There was a post on Instagram TCC of Jason on the ice I think yesterday. Looks like he was just moving around. Probably trying out the ankle a little. He was in a light jacket.
This makes me a little nervous (probably unnecessarily). I just wonder how long he was off the ice. 🙁

I don't think he was off the ice for very long - he posted on his instagram story a week or two ago a picture of him going into TCC holding his skates - There's no reason to believe he's been off the ice for any extended period of time.

I realize the ISU means international skating union, but it would have been nice if those videos were available in the US;)

And I love Jason on bringing back the old programs:

“There's a lot more that I have left in me, technically. But I also want to give so much artistically, and that takes a lot out of me when you're learning a new program and trying to create new storylines. I really invest myself into the choreographic process”
