Jason Brown

I mean, there were also all those pictures he posted 5 days ago of him exploring Graffiti Alley in Toronto, all of which clearly showed his feet, neither of which were booted or clearly bandaged, and one picture showing him in a position that you definitely wouldn't stand in if you had a broken foot.

Karne I know you hate TSL, but c’mon. It’s a fact that Jason withdrew from Peggy Fleming because he “tweaked” his foot during the week he was supposed to record the video. See ice coverage’s post #17,051 in this thread. That would have been in early July, ie about 6-7 weeks ago. It’s entirely possible that Dave misspoke or exaggerated when he said Jason had a broken foot, but he clearly had some kind of injury that impacted his skating.

He's clearly looking forward to this season. Hopefully he is in prime condition. ACI is in Quebec City this year. I think it's a good bet that we'll see him there, along with most of the ice dancers. He won't need to leave Canada until it's time for GP France. That simplifies life for him and his team. Hopefully these events will actually take place this year.

There is a massive difference between a tweaked foot leading to a precautionary withdrawal from an inconsequential artistic comp and a broken foot which could derail his season and you know it, Tavi.

Anyone else I would be inclined to give a benefit of the doubt to misspeaking, but not TSL. And if he's exaggerating, that's so much worse. Don't you see how that's so much worse?

I guess to me, after all the disinformation that has been and continues to be actively spread here in the US about the last election, voter fraud, Covid, vaccines, etc, Dave’s one-sentence remark just seems random and inconsequential and not worth getting bothered about.

On the other hand, I find it really interesting to compare the relaxed 2021 Jason riding his bike around Toronto this weekend with the somewhat frantic 2018 Jason who was struggling so hard to believe in himself. He seems to be in a much better place now, and I’m really looking forward to seeing him skate soon.

And I guess to me, letting these "inconsequential" things slide is a symptom of the bigger problem.

Yes, back to talking about Jason.... ;)

I am loving the Toronto weekend trips, although of course, *ice time* would be nice. But I say that every time, I want it all. :) And looking back in hindsight on that whole "Road to the Olympics" video series, I wonder whose idea that was....

And Jason did another online figure skating talk with a Japanese host yesterday, and if I am reading the Bing translator correctly, his Japanese is improving and he did half in Japanese😲

Is there a link? New interview with Rohene is available to online subscribers to IFS Magazine today. It's an interesting article. No quotes from Jason, but insights into those early days with Kori and where Rohene is now and relevant comments about working with Jason.

No, the host charges for the Zoom talk and the Japanese are very good about not posting it, since the host charges.

Here is a link to the "Thank You Jason" tweet (again, I rely totally on Twitter and/or Bing translator)

Weighing in on TSL - I guess an offhand comment like that doesn't really mean much to me because it didn't come out of Jason's camp OR Jason himself. From his instagram photos it looks like he's moving around pretty good although I was hoping he didn't trip on that jump and land in the water! I think you have to pick and choose what you get upset about these days. As Tavi said, and as I've observed, what you read is oftentimes just what people want you to know or believe and not necessarily fact. TSL loves to portray all the juicy gossip. Not a fan.

Thanks! It's nice to know that he is actually meeting his goal of being able to talk to his Japanese fans in Japanese! Hopefully someone will share some of the content.

Jason not listed as a US entry for the Autumn Classic:(

I wonder if he will do any summer comps. Quite a change from the days when he did local comps and multiple Challengers. ;)

He's still scheduled for Sun Valley next weekend (Sep 4) though. Hopefully, someone will have mercy on us and record it so we can get some snippets of his practice/performance.

I can’t imagine he’ll go into Skate Canada cold, but I would be really surprised if he did summer comps. He just tweeted a clip of himself doing a high impact off-ice warmup, which is good, but the fact he’s not listed for Autumn Classic makes me wonder what’s up. I’m curious if it’s because he’s behind in his training due to injury, just trying to peak later in season, or if strategically he wants to go to Asian Open (Olympic qualifier). Technically he could still go to either Finlandia or the Asian Open, but regardless of the fact it’s the Olympic qualifier, Asian Open would be cutting it really close with jet lag and travel time. Assuming it’s not canceled.

I’m guessing his tweet was a way of preempting questions about why he’s not listed for Autumn Classic, but it doesn’t fully answer mine.
