Jason Brown

From Vail to the Dude Ranch to Italy, to Ohio, then Japan. Where next? What fun! I only wish that I could go to Nats this year to see him skate. It's not possible, but I would love it! It's only a 6 hour drive from here, but it's the tickets and the hotels that are stopping me. If he skates well at Nats, he'll probably just keep doing this. Why not? It will be interesting to see what his programs look like at Nats. You can't have too much Jason! More!!

I am watching an Anything GOES Zoom podcast and toward the end, just before Mirai has to leave to go adulting (aka coaching) Corey Circelli chimed in regarding the similarity of the Men's FS programs this year at GPF, and he made the comment that he would love to see Jason knock it out of the park at World's. He said that he sees the FS in training on a daily basis train the program on a daily basis and Jason has been so busy that they keep pulling back and at the moment he thought Jason would say that it's at 60% of what it is supposed to be and can be. But Corey said that at World's, it will be at 100%. He wants to see a Tarzan moment at World's.

Here's the link; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_lqY-YVYDQ&ab_channel=AnythingGOEs The comments come at about 1hour 12 minutes. It's totally speculative thinking, but he does see Jason on a daily basis when he's at Cricket. It would seem that World's is solidly in the thought process.

It sounds like Jason plans to compete at Nationals at a top level and hopes to make the World's team.

EEEEEEEEeeeeeeee I was lucky to be there and see it live as well. I became an instant fan and haven't looked back. I may have said this before (I'm old so I repeat myself ) but I think Jason has almost single-handedly changed the face of men's figure skating. I think he proved that jumps aren't the only thing that counts and that beautiful skating has worth. It seems to me that most of the elite skaters are making great strides in improving their presentation rather than just quad after quad after quad. I lose interest quickly when someone is out there just jumping and their spins and in-betweens are awkward and mediocre. I also look to see how a skater is "skating" to their music and not just doing choreography.

I have not listened to this at all, but having just found this, I couldn't wait to share , (Of course I may have comments later ;) )

David Santee, former US skater, ISU tech specialist and Chicagoland rink director, interviewed Jason in December for his podcast. Two parts. :)

So I did listen to Part 1...

Some of the new-ish (2018 isn't new, but the descriptions each time give more detail, at least for me)

Darn, Jason *was* affected so much by all that quad talk:mad:. He went into 2018 Nats thinking he would magically land a quad when he hadn't landed one in practice in two months, and when he crashed into the boards, he "skated scared":cry::cry:

Jason's parents and I have this in common: we can't tell the jumps apart:D

Jason's nicknames: Bam Bam and Ankle Biter. You need to listen to the pod to find out why. ;)

He definitely got into his depression issues and quad issues in more detail in this interview and the fluff parts were fun. I plan to listen again to catch anything I missed (I get interrupted a lot no matter what I'm doing!) I'm not surprised that David pushed this to two episodes. Jason is a great person to interview and they bonded over shared experience on the ice as well as Chicago. Jason also was more specific about his experience coaching with Tracy than I've heard before. And I agree 100% that Team USA should have used Jason in the Team event in 2022. But they didn't. Thanks El Henry for finding and posting this! I had no idea that it was out there. Thought of you Sunday a week ago as I zipped up 78 on my way to NY. I'm back home now.

Really enjoyed the Jason / Santee interview. They covered so many topics, and David had some great questions...I drive by David's rink when I'm in Park Ridge occasionally and always pay attention to see if I see him, the Knierims, or Timothy Leduc (he was there for a while) anywhere in the vicinity! LOL.

Jason is returning to The Impossible Dream for his FS.

Thank you sweet baby Jesus and the wee donkey too:hap10:. Tarzan was just not ready for prime time, IMO.

Was coming here to post this … I disagree, I know we only saw it four times but I fear The Impossible Dream has already had its moment … He peaked with it at Worlds last season and I don’t know if he can top that… Plus I was really excited from what Corey was saying about the Tarzan programme, I thought it had so much potential.

I'm just happy he is skating to what makes him comfortable - but I really was also excited to see where he took the Tarzan program.

I agree with you: Tarzan had great potential and the Impossible Dream has been done. (unless he lands the backward lunge into the 3F ;) )

I just think Jason bit off more than he could chew with complex Rohene choreo without a "real" season to prepare. He has not skated Tarzan in shows and I did not see how he could get it ready by Nats.

Now, if he had revived Riverdance for Nats, maybe that would have been the best of both worlds.

On a selfish note …. I’m very excited for the opportunity to see Jason skating live again at Nationals this week. It’s been a few years since I last saw him in person :bsplit:

Sam, good to "see" you and good to hear that you are at Nats.:hap10:

Hope you have a great time and please let us know anything you see about Jason (here) or everyone else (elsewhere)
