I certainly hope that his current results are enough, with a good showing at Nats, to get that spot that he wants. I'm sure he would have enjoyed going to GPF, but that would be 3 competitions within 3 or 4 weeks? That's a lot! He'll be training for Nats from now on. The Olympic criteria is based on competition placement, not scores, so that's what gets compared. Grand Prixs count for a lot, as does Nats. He's got a 4th and a 5th in the GPs. That is still better than any other USA man except Ilia, of course. Tomoki is close, but I think he's 4th and 9th. I'm hoping for a great Nats and an even better Olympics! And clean programs! I know that he can do it!

I think Jason has to do a better job than he has done for the 2 gran prix events. He really has to clean up those jumps and land the 3 Axel consistently. Granted there isn't a clear challenge to him for getting the silver at Nats but you never know when someone is going to have the skate of their life or Andrew gets it together for both programs. I really want to see Jason make his 3rd Olys. Is it heresy to wish he would go back to a different free skate program? Not a big fan of this one. Sorry.

The Runthrough Podcast had the person who is head development which seems to include at some level, the Olympic selection committee, and he stated that body of work is determined by placement, not by score. Adam and Ashley were both happy to get clarification of that. I also thought they used scoring, but apparently, they don't. Grand Prix comps count for more than Challengers and Nats counts for a lot, but they compare placements according to him. His first name is Justin. I don't remember his surname. I can look it up if it's important.

I thought that he was competing in Grand Prix, aiming more at a better preparation for Nationals and the great championships, and not seeking to reach the Final to be able to focus more on getting ready with his skates, but it seems that the placements were important too? Anyway, in Grand Prix placements again he's a solid second.

No matter what the criteria is - Jason has secured 3 man participation in SO many competitions for the US and should be considered unless he totally bombs at Nationals. Whether he can go top 10 anymore in international competition remains to be seen and he needs to skate perfectly clean to accomplish that. I think Jason has been singularly responsible for male skaters, nationally and internationally, to work on and bring up their presentation scores. There are still just jumpers out there but the guys that are consistently doing well in competitions are the ones who have upped their presentations. He's brought back to many of us what caused us to fall in love with skating in the first place. I got sick and tired of hearing Quad! Quad! Quad! for those years. While I can respect what talent and energy goes into successfully landing that jump, there should be a balanced program to be fully appreciated (by me, anyway) And it suddenly has occurred to me that I'm preaching to the choir!

Jason probably only has one competition left until Olympics, and that is Nationals. I don't see a possibility where he won't be selected. The field is so much weaker than last Olympics when there was Nathan, Vincent, and Ilia too. Worst case scenario, he loses his spot on the team event, but I doubt that as well. No matter how brilliant another skater(s) would be at Nationals, Jason is known to do well in the second half of the season and at the big events. Last season he bombed the GPs with scores as low as 218 and after that he still managed to be 8th at Worlds (without competing at Nationals)-while other US men have a history of doing very well at Nationals and then bombing at the big international event. Seeing a bit of the rehearsals, he can do a good axel and all the other jumps but he seemed a bit stressed, for lack of a better word. The battle is for the 3rd spot, not the second, since the other men failed to convince this GP and Jason with mediocre performances score-wise still managed to place way higher than them in top 10 at GP overall.

I listened again. The audio is terrible on Justin's mic. He states that they use a point system, but it's based on placement, not score, and there are different weights to the different competitions. It was hard to hear every word, but the placement criteria I heard loud and clear.

I would absolutely buy a shirt with the Sinnerman pose on it. Perhaps, it is is a shirt that is forthcoming in the collection, I hope so. Sinnerman is one of the best short programs ever.

It's been announced that Jason will again be a part of Notte Stellata, in Miyaho on 7-9 March 2026. This is not a surprise, as he has been every year from the beginning as an important member part of the group in this emotionally heartfelt show.

It's nice that he and Yuzu have remained friendly and Jason loves to perform in Japan. That training group at Cricket at that time was very special. It's sad that it had to end, but Jason is still there!
