Jason Brown

I too think it was still a great skate event without all the HARD elements and perhaps the focus for this competition was to focus on getting the choreography down.

To my untrained eye, the Broadmoor performance seemed more passionate and commanding. Tonight's program was less so
but more intricate. I look forward to watching how it evolves in the months to come. :)

Sylvia has posted the TES/PCS breakdown: 67.22 TES/79.02 PCS

The jump layout was:
3A (two-footed? < at least, if not <<)
2S (placeholder)
3Z-2T
--
3Lo
2A-1L-3S
3F-2T (should be 3F-3T, I think).
3Z
2A

As always, thanks for the breakdown Mrs. P. :)

I noticed he only did one 3A and wondered as well if the 2S was a place holder for a quad. In any case, I love this program -- the one handed Biellmann and that insane lunge he does before the 3Z are two of my favorite parts. I look forward to seeing the final version.

I think it was at Skate America last year that he first started doing the 2A after the hydroblade (which is one of my favorite moments in that program) so I wouldn't be surprised if some elements are switched around before Skate America this year.

For sure, I expect this isn't the final layout; it's fun to keep track and see how it evolves in the coming months. IIRC the 2A in that Riverdance program originally was in the middle of a footwork sequence and judges were totally confused by it, so that's what they came up with -- and yes, what a great move that was!

Still 50/50 whether I will show up and see it in Skate America for myself...

Interesting observation...yeah it will be interesting how he will maintain the feeling of the program without getting too lost so he can do the jumps and elements.

Jason did it!

Brendan

Gorgeous, breathtaking, etc. They'll be on their feet again at Nationals this year, I'm certain of it. Especially that choreo sequence, where the music builds and he reaches out in desperation - it'll be fanTAStic.

I'm also now quite sure that the second 3A is going to be the 3A-halfloop-3S sequence. It seems to have an inbuilt stalk-zone. I wonder if the placeholder 2S is just part of his backup plan?

tl;dr I'm loving everything T&I and I'm also totally unconcerned about his tech content at this point. If he comes out in say, late September, and it's still like this, then it will be time to start worrying. But not yet.

I like Mariah Bell very much, I saw her flip/lutz jump improved a bit from last year. And so glad she is training with Jason now.

I know this is the Jason looove thread, but this video of Rohene Ward was brought to my attention in another forum, and you can see so much of the moves that he brings to Jason. Also, Rohene was 19 at this time and doing moves (like the axels in two directions) that most other skaters could only dream about. So glad that his life journey brought him to choreograph for others.

WOW! Thanks for posting. :)

I found another video of Tristan & Iseult from Glacier Falls. It's focused more closely on Jason and it's easier to see the nuances of the program (except when the person became engrossed and didn't keep up so he's off screen for a few seconds).

Thanks so much for the 2nd Glacier Fallls LP video! The closeups and the video quality make a big difference--you can see how hard Jason is working on telling a story and how much potential the program has.

Ditto; thanks for the vid! :agree: I am coming around to T&I with the close-up version, although I'm still a bigger fan of Juke.

Very well put, deetrakt-- it really does make a difference when the video quality is better, not to mention the closeups. I think tremendous potential is there and I look forward to watching it unfold. :)

I watched Rohene's video (the one posted above) before, and it instantly took my breathe away. I remembered him ever since, that one video clip in which, He is almost appeared as a black silhouette due to the shooting condition. however, makes his skating even more beautiful. And I am so glad that his talent can be extended and magnified through Jason. I love love Jason LP this season. And thanks for the close-up that is simply inspiring, cannot wait to watch it in competitions.

I will call it now - that choreo sequence is going to have them standing before he finishes. AGAIN.

Holy crap, Max's Gladiator, Jason's Tristan and Iseult, and Joshua's Schindler's List - imagine if they all went clean. Oh. My. God.

I agree completely. I all ready had chills and started to tear during that choreo sequence and this just being August. Can't wait for Skate America. I may just have to fly out there.

I agree! That choreo sq is just....spine-tingling stuff

I like this version more that the Broadmoor one. The only thing I miss is that short inside edge spiral after the last 2a - that was beautiful

I thought he was a bit more tentative with the stsq here. Did anyone else notice?

I was wondering if he might be in fact aiming to do that combo as a 2a-1/2loop-3S after all, and not a 3a. Could they be planning just the one 3a and then a quad where the 2s now is? Would that be worth it TES-wise, just doing one 3a?

Jordan Moeller just accepted my friend request on FB and I'm itching to ask him  (I won't though, if I were him I would be a bit curious to say the least if somebody started asking questions about my training mate...and by curious I mean slightly offended )

Hm, yes, I did notice that about the step sequence. I wonder if he missed a level at Broadmoor and wanted to make sure he was sorting out a level 4.

1 3A and 1 4T would not be worth it, TES wise OR PCS wise since it would be seen as a step back to go down to 1 3A. I have faith that we'll see a much better layout later on. I'm sure he'll get some feedback at Champs Camp too.

By the way, Jason adds pretty well everyone who adds him, but he doesn't interact on FB much anymore, thanks to that crazy stalker. :ohwell:

Glad that you restrained yourself. :)
Even if someone less polite were to ask Jordan, my belief is that out of respect for the privacy of everyone on Team Kori, he would never spill any beans on social media about what Jason (or any other training mate) is planning.
And I'm sure that if the tables were turned, Jason would never dream of blabbing about potential changes to Jordan's or Mariah's programs.

You're right...I just worry he's pushing that 2nd 3A too late into the program... What's the next comp we might see Jason in after Champs Camp? Does anyone know if he's done Classic before?

Too bad - I'd forgotten to add him, or I decided to wait until after the Olys before spamming his requests, so he hasn't added me yet at least (I sent my request about 5 weeks ago). What on earth did that stalker do???

Glad that you restrained yourself. :)

Of course I would never do that even though my fingers do itch a lot ;). It's just not right. I mean even if I happened to be seated next to some skater at a full restaurant, I wouldn't even bring it up in conversation (other than the normal pleasantries like "so everybody having fun and practicing hard at your rink?"). And to write him with a question like that - even worse. Write a message via FB - The Worst!

If they come to FT, I may ask Kori if I get a chance (and even then only if I manage to catch her alone so that her skaters/other skaters won't hear).

Funny but I feel like I have become sensitive to this stuff because I went through a lot in my tweens and teens. I was a plump & ugly kid and was always getting questions at parties & such like "Hi, so where are your friends, you know, the good-looking ones? Can you ask them to come over here?" I can laugh at it now but it was awful at the time!
