Here it is, the first, slightly uncertain steps of the Modern Times SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0dIqzo51B4

After two viewings, I kind of like the concept a lot - it is based on the chaplin movie Modern Times, the music is directly from the OST, scratches and all. The costume fits the idea. It has really nothing to do with the old FS which is VERY good in this season of repeats. The layout at the mo looks like his usual one, front loaded a bit. We'll see how it turns out in competitions - Black Betty was started on FaOI and many things were different in the actual competition version of the program.

And the GPs!! I will go to Grenoble for sure, but am also seriously thinking of China...

Well this Chaplin SP still needs a LOT of polish - which is why I expect he's doing it on tour in the first place - but I agree that this has nothing much to do with Javi's original FS. Some of the classic Chaplin moves he did then show up here as well, but all of them done differently. Love the sideways Charlie walk. And it's not flat out slapstick comedy, which is a relief. But Javi obviously needs to work and work on this.

We also have the Pirates program on video now, which I think is glorious! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5o72vm I'm not sure how Will Turner ended up amid all the classic Jack Sparrow stuff, but oh well. Javi sells the whole thing brilliantly!

Thanks so much for this fantastic clip!!! Such a pity that there are no big tours for a professional skater anymore..., as Javi would be such a wonderful, wonderful show performer in them. Besides, as a really charismatic skater he is one among the eligible skaters who is able to show his charisma also in ISU competitions. What a talent!!!

Here're two other versions of "Modern Times" (I will stop talking about Chaplin at this point, because this is based on that movie and not just in Chaplin in general like the FS). Not very good quality still, but you get an idea of what the music is like.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igfST1GvSrI (almost complete)
https://twitter.com/A2K_Bright/status/868863057446936576 (second part)

Edit: here we go, finally a perfect version! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHSuly6FI1E

The Pirates is just gorgeous - firstly, it is so weird to see him wear the costume as an adult and then secondly, skating in it with such flare and certainty (well, the jumps again not quite there, but jumping with a sabre is maybe not that easy...). And the performance, the acting, the character, just amazing! What a difference the years in between have brought! The choreo is also excellent because it works perfectly watching it the first time :luv17:

My agent in Japan says that (and this is really hearsay now) a winner of a lottery to attend practices has said that Javi landed a 4-3-3 with Hanyu, but no idea which jumps

E (happy to start the week like this!)

I couldn't agree more! And call me a blind sighted fan, but this guy may actually be the greatest character performer in all of figure skating. His facial expressions and body language are out of this world! You know, when someone has this kind of talent, I don't care that Chaplin (and potentially Don Quijote) are in his comfort zone. Let others handle ballet and opera. Javi's gift is in these character pieces, with themes he can carry, the dance focus.

I would so love to know who created this Pirates program for Javi! But please PLEASE can they use it outside of FOI as well!!!

Ahh is that were Javi's jumping mojo was concentrated? Because my god, Pirates wasn't exactly great, but falling twice in the Modern Times program?:palmf: Poor guy, he must have felt terrible, TV broadcast and all... But this 4-3-3 sounds brilliant, and I guess done in unison Cricket Boys style? My guess would be 4T-3T-3Lo, but hope we'll hear more eventually.

The program is well designed for Javi, but please, the other two time World Champion should not be used just as a prop holder.

I don't usually post here much but I wanted to say I really enjoyed Javi's Chaplin program at FaOI. It'll get polished as the shows go on and through the season, so it'll only grow and evolve for the better. Really liked the music cuts and I think it fits Javi very well. I also really loved his first spin's arm movements.

His pirate EX was also amazing. Sometimes one really needs a comedic program to get through a 3-hour show and Javi's so very good at playing characters on ice.

I vaguely recall this being discussed before, but is there a reason why Javi does a flying upright spin instead of flying sit? The latter is worth more right? Plus, not a lot of GOE to accrue from the upright spin he currently does.

I really enjoyed Javi's both programs :luv17:, more polished Modern Times looks great for a SP

Well I expect the main reason is that Javi, khm, very wisely never does a camel spin, so if his change foot spin in the SP is a sit spin, then I think the flying spin actually has to be an upright spin. But the BV isn't that much lower, just 0.1 between a level 4 FSSp and a FUSp.

Actually, I love that they now want to use this to their advantage in Modern Times, where even the upright spin is used to create the character with the arm positions. If Javi doesn't mess up the spin, he may actually get quite high GOE for it.

Javi is going to have a Meet & Greet in Nagoya, Japan, on June 14. Here's his tweet where one can answer a couple of questions for a chance to meet him.

Very little from Kobe so far - the show will be broadcast on BS Asahi tv tomorrow at noon JST, so hopefully it will end up online.

My gracious agent in Kobe tells me that Javi has done a collaboration piece on Friday and today with a Japanese pianist Kohshi Kishita - the song is still unknown. Yesterday he did the new SP and Pirates with Miki (repeated today). Hopefully some of this ends up in the broadcast. Today he apparently did also good with the jumps - which seemed to be missing on the first show weekend. Considering how little he probably has been able to train since leaving Toronto, it is perhaps not a surprise. Brian was in Kobe - maybe Javi wanted to show off for coach?! In the jump battles, 4T3T1Lo has been reported, but no videos.

There'll be that LaLiga event skating with a Japanese fan in Nagoya on the 14th and then its already almost the last leg of the tour in Niigata.
