Joshua Farris

He's also good enough to make the world team without the momentum from good GP showings, or to win the silver at 4CC in a well skated event while 'only' being the american 3rd. So not doing the GPs won't do his further chances much harm - it might not be completely as bad as it looks at first (relatively desperate attempt to make this sound less depressing.

Well, last year he had a total disaster at his second GP because he wasn't ready, which was viewed as damage to his chances. With no such damage this year, he'll be fine.

He will make it back. He will, he will.

Thanks for the update here & in the separate thread, golden

I nearly cried when I read that tweet. I can read the underlying surprise that so many people would have cared about him. Oh Josh, we love you, we do, now please get better, because we want you to make us cry again, but for a different reason.

Thank you golden for posting that tweet! He's just the sweetest thing ever, but he really shouldn't be so surprised at all the support. Let's hope he gets even more support after that tweet :)

And why can't more men be so comfortable with admitting something made them cry? It's so endearing.

There are a lot of loving replies from fans under this tweet already :) We hear you, Joshua! We will Give You Love!

Maybe he should ask Jason to be his wingman. Jason always has girls hanging off him

Awwwww! This makes me want to hug him. That's so touching. See, sending encouragement to people does give them an impact (Sorry if this post doesn't make sense. I woke up like 30 minutes ago from a nightmare and I'm not fully awake yet). Words do give meaning to people and if we use them the right way, we can make a difference (Holy crab I just wrote at least half this sentence with my eyes closed and no errors.).

This is why it's better to send encouragement than criticism to people. It's better to send encouragement because it leads to a more positive impact on the person.

Oh Josh, I'll be crying soon as well... I hope you will solve your injury problems finally! It would be such a pity if Josh was another skater who would never reach his potential due to injuries and other stuff.

That was a really nice message that Josh posted on Twitter. Thanks for sharing @golden411! :)

I keep wondering if it's a cultural thing with how boys are taught about expressing their emotions. Either Josh has been encouraged by his family/coaches differently or he just doesn't care about being the way that he is.

I have the same thoughts and for a long time. it is difficult to separate him skating from his personality, and it is impossible already. I'm really sure he will recover and his abilities and 15 years of hard work will lead Josh to the goal,to which he goes. we are waiting for him.

It's possible it's just him. I remember reading in an interview that Damon said one of the early problems he and Christy had when they got hold of him was that he let his emotions rule him on the ice, and so he got frustrated really quickly.

Perhaps the skate gods have sent him this one last challenge to overcome, after which he will be injury-free and magic the rest of his career.

Have you seen guys? He looks so good. Happy that his injury isn't THAT serious. https://instagram.com/p/8oNTfUpxx7/?taken-by=joejohnsonice Let's go girls!

Thanks for the video, Domi.

BUT I do not agree with your assessment therefore "that his injury isn't THAT serious."

It is great  to see Josh in good spirits taking part in a fun video.

But I really, really, really do not want the video to become the basis for any extrapolation that he "should" be able to resume training sooner rather than later.
I know that you did not make that extrapolation. But I don't want to encourage anyone else to.
We simply do not know the status of his recovery.

p.s. Good luck to Karina/Joe at the Autumn Classic next week.

ITA with golden411 - and I'm glad for that reason Josh is shown doing something domestic. Yes, it's just washing a fork, but the really impressive part isn't that he is in great spirits. It's that at his age, he is washing dishes, period. I think that domestic habits get pretty ingrained at a young age.

Slight sidebar - that's a pretty impressive kitchen for two guys that age. When I was 20, I had a studio that was so small that the kitchen was a stove and a sink above a cupboard. I got a regular sized refrigerator, but it meant that I couldn't have any other furniture other than my bed.

I also hope that Joe and Katrina have a great competition in Canada next week.

Stacking a dishwasher doesn't count

Anyway, my takeaway from this was that he is obviously feeling somewhat better, because otherwise I would doubt he would whip his head up like that for a silly video. I wonder if Joe knows we're hyper-analysing his social media posts to get information on his social media recluse roommate! :laugh2:

Still, as golden411 says, I'm cautious about taking anything from this video other than that he's in good spirits, feels comfortable snapping his head up for a video, and can load a dishwasher. ;)

It's at least a pretty great start. I can't tell you how many people I know in their 40s+ who still don't grasp: 1) how dishes really should go in a dishwasher, and 2) that you actually have to wash some dishes before loading them in the dishwasher. NO! - You can't leave a whole cake/meatloaf/casserole in the pan and expect the dishwasher to get rid of it. Drives me crazy.

Speaking of kitchens - I've seen some Instagram posts that Jason Brown posted a few weeks ago, but I would love to see how well more of these skaters can cook.

When I saw Joe's post in my Instagram feed I knew y'all be all over it like white on rice. It was just nice to see Josh alive and well & having a little fun (is there going to be a full video somewhere of Joe's friends lip syncing to Shania Twain?). At least we know that he's healthy enough to load a dishwasher, lol.

That's true! It gives us the same relief if someone who injured their next in a collision at a sporting game can wave their hand/arm.
