Junhwan Cha

Maybe not unfair since they're still age-egible but it's kinda annoying, especially comparing to ladies who are all 14/15 years old, I think Kaori is the oldest one from the big names and she's 16.

Yes, I know the rule... But I don't understand it tbh :)

My heart is broken  The difference between third and his placement is just depressing knowing that because he's young, inexperienced and is from small fed. It's hard for me to accept this result because I know this sport is inflated and PCS are meant to do that. Special skaters like him are not winners anymore. Shame about fall and that combo (it was still good attempt, too bad about UR on 3S). I guess changing program so late wasn't good idea. They should try it on Nationals or any smaller competition. It's good lesson for him, he will learn from that and become better. Next season will be tough for him, maybe medaling here will give him less pressure? I hope he will bring only positivities, rest and focus on next season, can't wait for him to debut in seniors :luv17:

Same... His PCS was such a disappointment. And I feel bad because he's moving to seniors and now you need more than just one quad to make it big. I was hoping he'd go into seniors with a medal from worlds :(

I'm sadder about the URs, lol. But yeah, the lack of discernment in pcs judging was disappointing. It's almost a shame, he's even a whole year younger than vincent(who's pretty young himself!) and it'd otherwise make a lot of sense to stay in juniors next season, but obviously with olympics and representing korea(where there's not stiff competition), being able to compete seniors is also a great opportunity. Better to learn from mistakes this year than next, and he'll be more experienced now. :)

Not the result I wanted for Jun Hwan, but am happy with his effort. His skating is so engaging to watch.

And I may just be spooked by Vincent's quad pyrotechnics, but I hope Jun Hwan adds another type of quad in his arsenal heading towards Pyeongchang.

Idk if I'm happy with the direction this sport is going. No more figure skating welcome figure Jumping ..

Can i join in the crying :sad4: ? I feel really sad...

As someone who started watching figure skating for the skating itself and not the jumps, i kinda agree...

Junhwan needs to quit this half loop combo, it's not working for him :disapp: And yeah, he needs another quad and it would be great to have quad+triple combo, that's a lot of asking but this is reality of men's figure skating right now and he needs to fit in. He improved so much for this season and during it and I know he will improve even more :2thumbs:

Definitely, join the club, I've been ranting to my friends all morning, and they're not even into FS

Given how much the boy has grown over the last year, it's admirable he's coping so well.

He is young. He has grown a lot. I am sure more quads will happen and that the off season will see lots of work on them. At that age, progression can come quickly provided he doesn't grow a lot more in a short period.

Awww... that fall. The second 4S's < and fall costed him a medal, right? (And the obviously questionable PCSs... oh well.)
Nonetheless it was a beautiful program. I wish best of luck for his next season! I do wish him to take time and do not rush too much technical contents, because unlike this season in junior circuit, it's not like he will instantly be a medal contender in senior circuit anyway. Take your time, avoid injuries, build up stamina, be patient and enjoy the journey. Even top 10 finish at the Olympics will be a huge accomplishment for him. (2022 will be another story.)

By the way, so far we saw 3 versions of his Il Postino LP, and I adore his senior competition version the most. That choreography sequence(?) is just beautiful. This 2 quads version is.. hm, while technically impressive and ambitious, it seems a tad bit emptier. The breathing-resting session after first 3 jumps was understandable but obvious. It's just a couple of seconds but maybe I'm too used to his original choreography. Though I liked the longer Ina Bauer very much!(or was it the same with different angle? Not sure, but this time it felt longer and more accentuating.)

Anyway the season is over. Go to Korea and spend quality time with your friends and family Jun Hwan! You deserve it. :agree:

Jun Hwan did great at JWC with a very nice SP and a techniqually difficult LP. Yes, he fell on his second 4S and the 3S was UR in the 3A-lo-3S combination, which probably cost him a medal, but it was definitely one of the most memorable performances of yesterday's event. I'm disappointed with the scoring, but maybe, circumstances like this will give him extra motivation to do even better.

He's grown a lot since last year, and because of this I'm very happy how he was able to develop throughout the whole season, both technically and performance-wise. Next year will be very, very difficult not only for him but for his coach and team as well - to debut in the senior field and Olympics in Korea at the same time will be a huge challenge. I hope he will enjoy the experience and won't put too much pressure on himself. He has plenty of time to improve and I'm sure his time will come in 2022. :)
