Is it just me or was he a little underscored? Especially in PCS? I feel like this program should go above Rippon/Kolyada/etc for sure...
Yeah, there were several people that placed above jun hwan that made me raise my brow a bit. But considering the season he's had and just the way pcs works these days, it's not bad. Still kinda cringey to see some of the skaters score above him in that 2nd mark though.

At least by a point! But he didn't do well in his senior GP debut, and is still "just" going to Junior Worlds.
Should have been ahead of quite a few people. Can see cases being made for Rippon and Kolyada being ahead of him, but the rest? Meh.

Shortchanged on PCS again. Of course. Should be a 90 if Nathan was 87.
I agree, it'll help him in the long run. So proud of him!!
Btw, did Junhwan modify/get a new costume for Il postino? It looks a little different from the one at Nationals

Barring injuries and disasters, this young man is going to be such a threat in the upcoming years. I can't believe that this is his first season as a senior. He has amazing jumps, skatings skills, and performance abilities. In addition to those lovely qualities, he also has a top class coach who has trained and guided phenoms to victory so the world needs watch out for Jun-Hwan.

I just want to say I was pissed at Johnny for saying Jun Hwan's skating was "juniorish". It was one of the top 6 performances of the night in terms of performance quality and artistry. Honestly have no clue what Johnny was even talking about. What about his skating is juniorish at all? He has a very mature style of skating. Innate expressive ability as well as musicality. He reminds me of Yuna and Yuzuru in that sense.

Yesss I was thinking the same during his FS. His layback was exquisite and he had an expressiveness similar to Yuzuru which is unique amongst the men. In time I'm sure he will polish his artistry and jumps and become a top skater.
LOL I have rarely seen men's skaters jun hwan's age with that level of artistry and polish. Criticizing him for that is such a reach. Yeah, he's juniorish- compared to top veteran skaters, maybe?

Please, let's not leave out the part where Johnny said he had "beautiful skating quality and ability. He is definitely a force for the future." I found everyone focusing on the negative and rarely mentioning the positives of the commentary. In fact, I started writing down all the positive comments just for the fun of it but stopped after I had more than a full page of notes...Is he juniorish? I don't know. I saw him at Sk Can in Oct. and fell in love with his Don Quijote SP. The commitment and fire he brought to that program were incredible. Those 2-1/2 minutes were probably all the aerobics I do in a full month! 
So happy that he could skate so well in front of his home crowd. How many 16 year olds can say they have done that?!

I was so impressed by Cha here at the Olympics! I think I am becoming a fan! 
I could make a case that he should have been 10th-12th, but I think in the next few years he will place MUCH MUCH better. Especially with Brian Orser as his coach. :yes:

I agree that Johhny's comment was outrageous. Jun-Hwan is one of those rare skaters (like Yuna) who has both artistry and consistent technical content at a very young age. His skating is nowhere near "juniorish". In fact his SP gave me goosebumps during the entire thing. Maybe it was the music, but I think what's even more is the way he was able to command it and interpret it. I'd rank him just below Hanyu for the SP interpretation/performance quality of the night.
Still haven't watched the FS, but am very much looking forward to it.
Also, his exhibitions. I have yet to see a 16 year old pull of a gala to a music piece like that (in shades!). That was like a mix of Plushenko and Boitano in one exhibition. What a star.
