Wow, I'm quite amazed. Another fall for Caroline. Why didn't we hear about little Nagasu before this, I wonder? Well, I still prefer Caroline's lyricism.

And I'm happy for Wagner. What a strong crop of juniors!!!

Can't wait to see all their skates on youtube.

Nagasu didn't make it out of qualifying last year, so she didn't get any international assignments, allowing her to fly into Nationals under the radar this year. I think she is just a delightful skater, and I wish her continued success and much fun!

Congrats to Mirai Nagasu! I'm thrilled for her. I'm super excited. I hope she and Caroline get a rematch at Junior Worlds this year. That would be super fun to see. It sounds like Carolines having an off time. But here's to adding another talented skater to the pool of up and coming field of ladies in the US.

There was a lot of pressure on Caroline. I guess she was feeling it. She had such a wonderful year. At least she did not totally fall apart. That is the sign of a true champion. What a great team for world juniors.
I think we are going to see some surprises in senior ladies.

Congratulations Miria!!!!! And Caroline!!!! And Ashley!!!!!

When did Caroline start trying the 3a, could that be throwing her off on he 2a??? JAT

Wagner looks so big over those two. I wonder why she didn't just move up to seniors.
They will defintely send Caroline & Mirai to junior worlds. The third spot is up for grabs. It will probably be Wagner or Flatt depending on how the latter skates.

I'm sad for Caroline. I absolutely love her style but Mirai is amazing. I was stunned when I first saw her programa yesterday. Where did that come from? Where was she all this time?

Check this out and see the world's most adorable press conference starring the junior ladies podium. The two tiny ones are so derential, modest, and candid - they are good friends and touchingly oblivious of the "kill Bill" attitudes that top competitors are supposed to have. If only they would stay that way! Wagner looks like a giant next to them (she's not!) but speaks of them with great respect - appropriately. All three come off beautifully. I almost cried. (Happy tears!)

hmm, says the coverage of US nationals is free but once you get to the site they want you to (pay to) subscribe? What am I doing wrong?

I believe she is older...not certain though.

I also think that the other two are very, very petite - thus making Wanger appear larger. She has grown in the past year - just in looking at her pictures. Perhaps she will have a body line similar to Sarah/Emily but perhaps more slender - NOT that either Hughes' have a weight issue.

When I began skating, I was not only older but physically larger than my comp. and it made me self conscience. As I developed physically and as a skater, I began to see that my size could be used as an atvantage - I had bigger jumps and more speed so while I and my compitition all good 2A's, mine *looked* better because I had the strength, power and speed the others did not. Then again, when I fell, I fell harder and it was not a pretty - if a fall is ever pretty.

Wagner just moved up from Novice this year - if I'm not mistaken. I wish more of the current Jr. and Sr. ladies would not rush up to Sr.'s so quickly. While I respect that it's a goal they want to achieve and perhaps they feel they need to test up before they burn out, I prefer the Sr. Ladies to LOOK like Sr. ladies.

Just my 2cents.

Still not free....the above link takes you to the press breifings but no skating. Hrmp....

Sorry. Yeah, the coverage is only press conferences, not skating. I don't think they even have the skating event available yet for subscribers and I'm not positive they every will. I thought I read something about ABC having exclusive rights or something? Not sure about that.

Opinion by Eye Witness

It was not as intense as I (we) thought it would be. Mirai skated first and clean; Caroline skated second with a fall.

I would have given Mirai first even without Caroline's fall, but hey, it's very slippery. I still prefer Caroline's overall skating in general, but Mirai is still gaining on me. Problem with both that in spite of their hi tech and somwhat lyrical flow, they do not skate with conviction or what I call solid. They are still juniorish and that's where they are at their best. Lots of potentil still for 2010

The most senior looking gal was Ashley Wagner. She fell too, and some of the crowd around me said she should have been second. Chrissy Hughes looks good for a potential branding.

I hope these are on youtube.

For Original Dance - The Tango, yeah.

Only surprise was Navarro and Bommentre beating out Matthews/Zavosin, and then have Davis/White beat out N&B.

Matthews has this severe mannish peroxide haircut (not unlike Kim Novak) and she was hssing him like a cat in several tango moves. Fun to watch.
Third place and Worlds contention still anyone's game.

Missed the Junior Boys SP today but will getting to Senior Pairs SP and who will take that bronze, but only two will go to Worlds.

Joe

Could you elaborate "branding." A number of things come to mind (and not cattle branding) and not sure about the "commercial" aspect that is coming to my mind.

Sounds "cool" and the hair, WHAT! Well nothing is going to take away that big beautiful smile of hers.

Thanks for the "reportette"!
