Kaetlyn Osmond

1) I think we all are heartbroken for Gabby Daleman tonight. I would hope so, because Gabby Daleman pushing Kaetlyn Osmond was only helpful - and Gabby's a great human being, period.

2) As much as I have snide remarks for the so-called judging, the most important thing is Kaetlyn is happy. That's what matters. We fans ask so much of these young women... perhaps too much with the current system. They should be able to have fulfilling lives post-skating you know?

3) All that said, Mr. Yank for Osmond would like to see Abbotsford International Airport renamed... you guessed right... Kaetlyn Osmond International Airport. How many skaters for Canada have a gold, a silver and a bronze AFTER Virtue-Moir - two of those medals won valiantly after a career-threatening injury and a below-Kaetlyn-par outing at the 2018 national championships?

Great job Kaetlyn! I did not believe she would give a clean FS and she mostly did. Hated her SP but the FS was lovely to watch. Congrats on that Olympic medal!

Congratulations Kaetlyn for the bronze and for being able to give your best performances of the season at the Olympic games! Very happy for you! :thank:

The season has not been easy but she was ready when the most important competition was on. Hard work finally paid off. Both her performances were incredible imo. As a fan of smooth, elegant skating and mature interpretation of the music I was hoping for her to be in the podium. I had this unrealistic dream of Satoko and Carolina being on the podium with her.

I am also sorry for Gabrielle. She is such a great skater.

A well deserved bronze, just all her heart and soul poured into that performance when it mattered most! Not many skaters or athletes in general can say they have a gold, silver and bronze medal! If she retires after this season, it'll be a well deserved one :)

Congrats Kaetlyn! Didn’t watch the final flights last night, as these late nights of watching fs, reading GS forums after the comp, then going to work the next day has taken it’s toll. However, checked the results first thing this morning and watched Kaetlyn’s program twice. She laid it down. Rooted for her hard since seeing her live at SC2016 with her speed, beautiful presentation (especially her Edith Piaf SP) and big jumps. She hasn’t looked back since. Hoping she can stay for Montreal Worlds!

Never been a fan of Kaetlyn's skating and of her popular SP, but I have to say that her FS really impressed me! She really delivered and got a really well deserved medal! Congratulations!

It was interresting to compare Osmond's FS to Alina's SP, as both athletes used Mansel's version of Swan Lake. Although I pres¨fer Alina's program more, I must admit that Osmond's free program is among some 20 best programs I have seen during last seasons.

Oh, I can't watch it on CBC, because I live not in Canada, can somebody record it and give a link to Kaetlyns FS?

Does somebody have a link of her FS? I cant find it anywhere..

Siberia82 posted it last night on the Canadian thread...enjoy! While you're viewing look for Kaitlyn Weaver jumping up and down in the stands and Piper Gilles, Kaetlyn's bestie in tears, during the standing 'O'. In addition to the incredible skate, a highlight for me.

Enjoy!

Well, well Kaetlyn is gonna be around for a while if this CTV report is correct.

Eight years later, the 22-year-old from Marystown, N.L., will leave the Pyeongchang Olympics with two medals -- gold in the team event and bronze in the women's singles -- and is suddenly the veteran on a team facing a massive rebuild.

"Being on a team with such a veteran group, it's been so much fun, they've been so close and I've just kind of mingled my way into it," Osmond said. "It will be exciting to see a new generation, and to see what they are wiling to fight for and what they can accomplish, and if anyone needs help with anything, I hope that I can be a little bit of a mentor."

Skate Canada's high performance director Mike Slipchuk said the team's medal target for Pyeongchang was three. They did one better. Osmond's thrilling bronze skate on Friday gave the team a best-ever four Olympic medals.

. . .

"I was very much just happy-go-lucky in Sochi, and skated just because I could. And here, I wanted to fight to make it onto the podium, I wanted to be a part of Team Canada in that gold medal, and I fought with everything I had for that, and I think those are the main differences."
