"I still remember the year she came back from her devastating near-career ending injury where she fell on every single jump at Skate Canada...and didn't even make the World Team. now a few short years later, she's an Olympic Team Silver and Gold medalist, Olympic individual Bronze medalist, World Silver Medalist, and now World Gold Medal Champion! what a journey she's been through....just goes to show anybody: never give up! she's improved in all aspects of her skating, she's one of the most decorated Canadian female figure skaters of all time, and still has a lot more to give to the sport. Kaetlyn is such a well deserved champion, and a gracious, humble and genuine human being to all her fellow competitors."

What do you want/think the reigning World Champion should skate to next season?
For the SP, maybe Kaetlyn can try some Newfoundland folk music or incorporate a section of it. For the FS, since she had so much success with La Boheme in 2017, I would like her to interpret Violetta in La Traviata.

I'd like to see Kaetlyn try a routine to, "Angels on my Side". Oh and probably have to throw in a few extra jumps... just for the Comeback Kid to keep the Russians, the Far East, and hopefully Gabby in the rear view mirror.

In general it seems like Kaetlyn, Ravi et al. like to set up her programs with a cabaret/high art contrast between the short and long programs. It's proven to be a winning formula, so I'm guessing they'll keep doing that. Presumably, though, the next short program will be something other than an Edith Piaf song (or cover of the same). She's already done Bob Fosse-inspired short programs, and Chicago is a well-trodden path at this point, but I'm sure she could sell "All That Jazz" better than anybody else in competition right now.

Well deserved win, KO, you absolutely earned it. Now it’s time for a break and rest well, come back next season with two stunning sassy programmes. That will tell all your naysayers you mean business and this is no fluke.

I must say that I did not notice Kaetlyn before last year although I loved her FS on Cleopatre despite the mistakes, and I regret not interested in her she is a good skater who has future bravo for this medal.
I can not believe that in the beginning she did not like her black swan program because I think it is well chroregraphy there are times when we see the black swan.

I am here lovaticcanada, and thanks for thinking of me! I have lost my speaking voice screaming at the TV, and celebrated with a few members and ex members. So proud of our Girl!!! Yes, life is beautiful!

I previously figured after Pyeongchang that Tessa and Scott were locks to win the Lou Marsh Trophy for 2018, what with their two Olympic gold medals and becoming the most-decorated figure skaters, not just in Canadian history, but of all-time. It's probably still the safest bet to pick Tessa and Scott (they're much bigger names), but Kaetlyn taking the World Championship surely will put her name in the mix. Barbara Ann Scott and Petra Burka both received the Trophy in the three years that they won Worlds. Being the first Canadian to do so since Magnussen is a big story too.
If nothing else, I expect she's probably locked down the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award.

Not necessarily. That's for female athlete of the year, right? There are several other good options. Kaitlyn Lawes won gold with John Morris in mixed doubles at the Olympics and just won Worlds with the Jones rink. She and John may also go to the mixed doubles Worlds. Kim Boutin was the closing flag bearer and she won a silver and two bronzes at the Games. She also won two bronzes at Worlds.
I mean, I'd love for Kaetlyn to get it, but she's not a lock. There are a lot of amazing female athletes in Canada.
I would hope for Kaetlyn an Order of Canada and an offer to have a CF-18 familiarization flight with the Royal Canadian Air Force. I'm sure Kaetlyn can handle throwing around 32,000 pounds of thrust. That would be a good start.
Love to see Kaetlyn also win the Lou Marsh Trophy!

Thanks bud, I promised myself I wouldn't have one (a pic that is), until my prediction of an individual Gold came through. Is it too early to uncork the Champagne I've been holding on to?
Well I study Canadian politics on the side. I have a few friends left in that world, one of whom is a talk show host in Toronto & another three are pundits. I also go to the Abby Airshow now annually.
Oh and yes, I am a big Kaetlyn "Comeback Kid" Osmond fan. There's just something... magical about coming back from the athletically dead and Kaetlyn's personality I just want to cheer for. Also the fact Kaetlyn's the first skater I got to meet... not even Sarah Hughes or Kristi Yamaguchi or Jennifer Robinson (my now #2-4 on my favs list). Sad I'll have to wait until 2019 Stars On Ice for a celebratory meetup with Lady Kaetlyn herself but such is my life. Happy for Kaetlyn though she has a personal life outside of skating where Kaetlyn can just be... Kaetlyn and have some normal.
That said, I am also a Virtue-Moir fan for the way they skate like they're two Canadian Snowbirds in formation performing at the Abbotsford Airshow I go to annually. Just perfect formations. Maybe it's just the aviation-centric photographer in me, but I equate skating to flying.
I'll stop there.
