Kanako Murakami

A small part of a 2010 interview of Kanako.

Q: Is there any skater, besides Mao Asada, that you admire?

Kanako: Yuzu. In the recent NHK, he is shining even among those seniors. His jumps are awesome. And he is very nice. I think Yuzu is really a perfect person.

Yuzuru Hanyu talks about JWC 2010 with Cutting Edge 2010
The last paragraph on the left: The competition (JWC2010) started with Kanako in Ladies single, then Mervin and Naru in pairs. Both won 1st place (in SP). Then Kanako said to me: “Now you read the air! (meaning you know what to do)” That made me super nervous. (Laugh)

Little Wing 2012
Reporter: The challenge for you two is stamina. This year’s wolrd championship is waiting for you two.
Yuzuru: Wolrd championship…In fact, this is the Kana’s second time!
Kanako: But for Yuzu, you have been to junior world championship twice, right? Kana has only been there once (だもん - Kanako said this in a cute way).
Yuzuru: Right, for JWC, in our first junior year (2009), Kana didn’t go. But (you are) awesome, (you) won when you went there the first time(2010).
Reporter: Kanako-san won a medal in her first senior GPF as well.
Yuzuru: Too bad, I totally lose (to Kana)! (Laugh)
Kanako: But that is by coincidence. Look at this year’s Kana, totally not good.
Reporter: Life has peaks and lows. This is the same for both of you.
Kanako: I hope we two will have peak! peak! peak! in this coming season!
Yuzuru: Not only this coming season, but also in the year of Sochi, I hope we both have our highest peak!
Yuzuru: The rose doesn’t taste well!
Kanako: Ah? You even tried to taste it?

Good lord. You'd think we were still in Victorian times with the amount of fuss Kanako's hair cut seems to have caused. Can't a woman just want to feel the air on the back of her neck?! ;)

Good for you, Kanako, you carry on doing what you want to do.

I like her tango costume too. When all the ladies seem to go the same way when it comes to costumes (short and sparkly), whilst I love a lot of those costumes, it is nice to see something different, IMO.

20151023 GP Special - Kanako Murakami : video; photos
The special captures Kana's practice at US Classic and also her short interview about her current mind and thoughts on Mao's return

Gosh I love this girl's smile! She smiled so much during OP, especially to her coach at rink side, practically after every jump/movement that she set out to do. Too cute! Good luck tomorrow!

She is indeed a sunny person! Her OP today looks better than yesterday. Hope she hold it together at competition. By the way, I love her practice outfit!

Just some OP videos:
OP1 - LP: no jumps, messed up a spin entry, stsq
OP2 - SP: no jumps, no spin, stsq
OP3 - SP: jumps + stsq, no spin (She put up her new SP costume there)

Good job, Kanako! Shame on that 2A, but apart from that, everything looks good - all spins and stsq level 4. But her LP is always weak, hope she makes it tomorrow!

Today is Nov.7 - Kanako’s birthday! Reminding me of her chat with Yuzu several years back. Yuzu said his birthday is Dec. 7 while Kana is Nov. 7, so Kana is his senpai and his one-month elder sister and told Kana to please look after him. (Translation based on Google translate)

Update:
TEB cancelled due to Paris attack. And according this fan,
"We saw Kana in tears at one point in the hotel hall and Japanese tv crew kept filming her the idiots #TEB15"
https://twitter.com/neymar_central/s...98931904831488

According to Asahi news, JSF said ISU initially proposed 3 options: stop the competition, proceed the competition without audience, and proceed the competition as originally planned. Team Japan had discussed and they expressed that they are willing to continue competing in LP and perform at gala. But it is a shame that the competition cannot continue. They had no choice but to respect the final decision of French authorities.

Thank you, alia, for the video! Just sad, for everything.

Another video from Japanese media featuring the announcement and skaters' reaction, including Team Japan members. Judging from the announcer's words, I feel that ISU already decides to take SP score as final standings. And skaters are probably planning to return home now. The JSF lady officer was telling Kanako that they think it is better to go back to Japan as soon as possible. Then Kanako asked "immediately?", the lady said yes because there is no need to stay there since they cannot compete anyway.

This ANN NEWS video has some words from Kanako and Dice about their thoughts on the tragedy.

News of Team Japan leaving for the airport
