Kanako will perform at WTT gala... They have so many other talented younger skaters in Japan now and she is not training in Tokyo. So not a very pleasant guess, but probably she needs to announce something there...

That doesn't have to mean anything. (Guess, you're implying retirement) Kanako is a popular skater and her name is a household name, it does make sense to invite her.
I hope she has nothing to announce.
Younger skaters like Rika, Yuna or Kaori all placed higher than Kanako at Nationals, but I think she is still more popular than any of them, so it would be reasonable to invite her to the WTT gala.
If Kanako decides to retire I doubt she would use the WTT to announce that. That would seem a bit strange.
I think the same, it would be strange. Galas are funny, and it's the last competition of the season anyway...so she wouldn't want to bring sadness into it?

I will miss in the competitive skating scene Kanako, her megawatt smile, her joyous personality, and the way she emotes on the ice. As a fan, I'd wanted more for her, but in the end she has a competitive career that she can be proud of with a junior world championship, a GP (Skate America) title, Worlds small medals, JN medals, an Olympic stint, and the love and affection of her teammates and training mates and many fans. All the best to Kanako, once and forever TJ's Sunshine Princess!
I remember making this thread for her, so her FanFest means a lot to me. I'm sad we have to say goodbye now. I don't think Mao's decision has anything to do with it. Kanako's results this season speak for themselves. She even wanted to retire after Sochi, if I remember correctly. I'm glad she stayed a few more years. My smiley Girl! I wish you luck in life, but someone as positive as Kanako will have a fulfilling after-skate life I'm sure. Maybe join Coach Yamada and Fluffy at the Nagoya rink. She sure can be a motivator.Kanako, i Will always think of you.
She will be acting in a drama or something like that as a goddess: https://twitter.com/tsubayuki77/status/856057164422537217
That is new career! Hope she gets all the best!
