Kao Miura

Those who are missing Kao's Beauty and the Beast program are in luck- he is working with the same choreographer, Eiji Iwamoto, for his FS in the Olympic season. Music has been chosen- it's still a secret but Kao said the genre is what he's good at and he feels the music suits him. Also since Eiji Iwamoto is in Japan, Kao feels confident that it's easier to do adjustments on the program.

SP will be with Benoit Richaud again. (I'm happy, I think Kao and Benoit is a good match).

Kao news, from this Asahi.com article that's been gifted by one of the fans on Twitter (it's free to read until tomorrow):

- Kao celebrated his 20th birthday by eating cake and pizza. It was an all-guys party. He received a hairbrush with his name on it.

- He's not interested in drinking yet, but his mom is really strong with alcohol so he thinks that he's probably that way too.

- Kao has made 2 FS programs: 1 FS by Eiji Iwamoto to The Last Samurai (music Kao chose himself), and 1 FS by Benoit Richaud to POTO (music Kao selected from the options Benoit gave him). As per this column published July 2, 2025, Kao sounds like he's going to skate both programs a bit more and decide which one to go with.

- Kao's SP is already decided, it's the one made by Benoit (Storm and other music pieces). According to Benoit, the theme is about a robot that wants to become human — and does.

- Planned SP layout is 4S3T 3A 4T
- Ideal FS layout is 4Lo 4F 3A 4Seu3F 4T3T 4T 3A2A

- He's landed the 4T in June.

- His MRI had shown lingering shadows in my left thigh from a muscle strain, and he hadn’t been cleared (to jump?) for a while. The shadow was due to hardened muscle tissue, which likely won’t go away. That hardened part can cause pain, so he worked on loosening it up through training and was eventually able to jump again. This was the result of pushing himself too hard while injured, so he wants to take proper care of his body moving forward.

- He should be getting his driver license sometime in July. Shun has been teasing him about it.

Thanks for all the updates. I am simultaneously so excited to see the programs, the synopsis of the short sounds sooo interesting, and sad to hear about the long-term effects of his injury. I really hope he can heal, and glad to hear he is taking better care of himself.

Kao Miura has been assigned to two competitions of the Challenger series, the first being the Kinoshita Cup, and the second, just the next weekend, the Lombardia Trophy! This will be a very good practice but rather exhausting at the moment! I hope that he's already completely healed.

Kao performed his "The Last Samurai" FS at Friends on Ice this weekend. I don't know, if he has made his final decision yet, but I think this program works really well for him and I wouldn't mind him choosing this one over PotO (of course my opinion doesn't matter 😅):

Thank you so much for sharing!

Kao Miura doesn't seem to be in good shape, and he's supposed to skate at Lombardia Trophy next week!
Honestly, I hope he can withdraw and take the rest and probable treatment he needs ad the start of this Olympic season! He's to skate at the first Grand Prix trophy in France on October 17th to 19th, ne needs to be in good shape!
I'm not used to have an opinion on "what a skater ought to do", and I know that I may be wrong, but here I have a strong impression.

Kao posted an Instagram story with a picture of himself in his free skate costume and the messages, "Thank you for cheering for me at Kinoshita Cup!" and "I'll do the best I can do at Lombardia!" Although I haven't seen Kao's performances from Kinoshita yet, I'm a little surprised that he still intends to compete at Lombardia...*sigh*

I suppose all we can do is hope for the best...

On the Kazuki Tomono Fan Fest, @kwanette reported that Kao Miura had posted about being on his way to Skate Canada. I hope that his travel will happen fine, and that he's in good health!
