Kazuki Tomono

The final season's rankings are out..Kazuki ended up 9th!! https://twitter.com/soranbushis/status/1515838543192547330/photo/1

Thank you! Kazuki finished the season with the 17th Season's Best (SB) score and 13th in overall World Standings (WS), in addition to being one of the seeded skaters for the next GP season due to his 6th place finish at Worlds, which means his two GP spots are guaranteed (and 4th-6th places can't clash so he won't be in the same events as Morisi :hap10:).

As I wrote in the Japanese Men thread, despite finishing in 5th at Nationals, for all intents and purposes he finishes the season as Japan's 4th man, considering SB, WS, overall achievements and consistency throughout the season. This is absolutely amazing considering the depth of the Japanese Men field at the moment 🔥

I'm so excited because I think the best is yet to come for him, I think he'll really thrive in the 2022-26 quad as a mature skater :love2:

Exactly! He's the 9th in the season's rankings, and 13th in overall world standings which counts the past three seasons. It's amazing considering he didn't compete internationally in the 2020-21 season because of covid restrictions.

The TV programme seems interesting! It's basically a playlist created by him, 'This is my view of figure skating'. It won't air until 21st May though, just after his birthday.

He's really rocking that salaryman style, isn't he 🤓👔

Has this been shared? Big Kazuki interview ^ ^ https://global.canon/ja/event/skating/interview/2021_2022/tomono.html But I think most of it has already been discussed here.
@Kirara, fortunately Kazuki's first off-season hair dye isn't as bad as we feared, is it?
I just read this interview, thank you! It's in Japanese but works with Google Translate, and well worth a read IMO. He confirms his super confident words at the beginning of the season were just bravado 😅 but it ended up working well, didn't it.

He also confirmed what I suspected: he struggled in the free at Worlds because he wasn't psychologically prepared to fight for a medal. I suspect something similar happened at Rostelecom and 4CC, too.

His thoughts on how the Worlds 2018 SP defined his career were also super interesting.

Overall, even if there isn't anything exactly 'new' in the interview, I really enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone interested in getting a better insight on Kazuki's thoughts and where he wants to go from here.

As for his hair, the off-season is still young... :ROFLMAO:

JSF released their funding list for the upcoming season (early, this time!), and for the first time since the 2019-20 season, Kazuki is in the Special Strengthening group (the top-tier funding)
It's the first time I see more guys than girls receiving top funding, that's interesting.

Meanwhile, a new interview and photoshoot with Kazuki will be published in the sports magazine Numbers!

I'm really really pleased that Kazuki and Mai received JSF's top-tier funding again at their age. Well deserved for their results this season making the most of every opportunity (sometimes as an alternate), as well as their perseverance despite being often overshadowed by the prominent or younger skaters:jump:

In celebration let me share with you a group number at SOI with Kazuki, Mai, Koshiro and Wakaba - the one Kazuki was talking about in NowVoice. I've uploaded the video with limited access since it's rather private (a friend filmed it from TV screen for me). I see his Daft Punk and Cinema Paradiso programmes have been uploaded :giggle:

TY so much for posting this..It was so lovely that it brought tears to my eyes..No secret how much I love Kazuki..but Mai has always been one of my "soft-spot" skaters..she has endured so much..and I am glad that she is back competing and performing..and getting the recognition that she deserves..

Kazuki attended JSF's ceremony of celebration of outstanding athletes in Tokyo. He posted a cute IG story with RikuRyu:

Kazuki's still in Tokyo, rehearsing for tomorrow's event with Sota and Sena:

According to this tweet, the boys will perform to music from L'Euridice, the oldest known opera? 👀
I'm really curious to see this, hope there will be some videos!

A new interview with Kazuki was published today!
It's in Japanese but works with Google Translate.

He says he will go to the U.S. this spring for choreography! That means he and Misha will see each other again!

Kazuki tweeted this and put it on his Insta story.. Hopefully..someone can translate..https://voice.nowdo.net/share_post/209/WlRrNE1EQTVPVGhsWTJZNE5ESTNaUT09L2JvUzZnS1NXZ3J5RU52dXMvL3Vwdz09/
Yes! He released two new NowVoice episodes, I think this one you posted was with his BFF Sota Yamamoto, and another one with Sota and Sena. Here's his tweets about it:

Also, just saw this pic, seems to be an official one from the suits' maker. Soooo cool!

Omg, haha! It looks like the boys have been practicing their 'cool' faces in front of the mirror for this occasion.
The Japanese fans must have felt like their next Christmas came early, to be able to sit close to their faves, and making matching funny gestures ^ ^
