Kazuki Tomono

Well guys, what can I say... This was early-season Kazuki at his finest: rough, chaotic but also gutsy :rock:

I was particularly impressed by the fact that he improvised his FS layout after missing the 3A combo, switching the 3F2T to second to last jumping pass and doing the 3Aeu2S combo as the last jump! Most skaters would agree that doing a 3A as the last jump is risky, let alone a 3A combo, and he did it on the fly with positive GOE :bow:

So I'm not worried at this point. He got the chance to debut his challenging new programmes internationally, hopefully shaking up some of those nerves. He missed the podium, but as he finished in 4th place he got some ISU points and was invited to the Exhibition! Let's see if he'll perform 'What's my name'!
 
Not quite the skates he was hoping for, I'm sure. In spite of that, he never lost the power of the performance and still maintained his usual great energy and commitment. I was afraid be was injured or maybe having boot issues. Probably just early season jitters. I'm sure he'll regroup and be ready for his GPs. Wishing him the best.

Thank you as usual for your kind words, Arriba! I was worried about injury/boot problems too, but I agree with you, his issue was probably nerves! He looked good in practice, and even on the day after the comp he landed a beautiful 4T:

Thank you! Here's the exhibition from another angle, I'm not quite as sold on it yet as I was on Bills, but that's probably because he hasn't performed this one during the summer shows as much

I'm an old lady so the music hurts my ears..but..he performs the heck out of it..and the young German commentator thought that he and it were cool!

in a good way cause I still remember being :eek: when I saw this first and I was happy for him and his "evolution" haha
For Kazuki it's not such a big step but anyway super entertaining.
