Kazuki Tomono

So, it's now been confirmed, no spring Challenger assignments for Kazuki... That means he won't be competing from late January till mid-March. Hope he'll be OK 😢

ETA: Apparently he's going to be competing in the Skating Hiroshima 2023 Figure Championship Chugoku Shimbun Cup Competition, 24-26 Feb 2023. I don't understand why JSF is so stingy they can't send him to Challenge Cup with the others 🤬
While it’s sad that Kazuki won’t go, he can rest and train for what comes next.

Kazuki's protocol from today:

He underrrotated the salchow and lost some levels on spins, but otherwise, he did well!

Here's a Google Translated news report: https://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/202301290000534.html

[Figure skating] Kazuki Tomono takes the lead with a score of 82.50

Kazuki Tomono (Osaka, Ueno Shiba Skating Club), who represented the World Championships in March (Saitama Super Arena), took the lead with 82.50 points.
First match of the year. Looking back on his fall on the quadruple salchow in the middle stage, he said, ``I had a lot of practice where the salchow wasn't able to climb up, collapsed, and fell or fell, so it came out.''
The immediate task is to dispel the sense of weakness. “I have a lot of confidence because I can take a breather in the free skate,” says the big difference between jumps. In the future, we plan to perform in two competitions until the world championships, and proceed with adjustments, saying, "I want to do it well in February, take a breather once, and try again in March."

Sota's and Kazuki's protocols look uncannily alike, down to two splats, and the last two elements being worth the most points  Boys, I know you're close, but please stop mimicking each other in messing up  Kirara, if you're wondring about the 3F2A, maybe it was some sort of challenge or inspiration, as Sota does it this season?
Well, tomorrow's a new day!
Check out these touching photos from the ceremony. Kazuki and Sota hugging their onsen friend Taichiro after his last competition:

Kirara, if you're wondring about the 3F2A, maybe it was some sort of challenge or inspiration, as Sota does it this season?
yeah, I think the issue is that, while Sota has done 2A several times, both in shows and in competitions, whereas Kazuki up until now hasn't done a 2A anywhere. Having now seen the video, I'm like... Kazuki please go back to 3F2T 😭

Anyway, the medal ceremony was the cutest! I loved the Osaka team entrance, with Kazuki doing a 'throw jump' with Nobu! I'm so happy we got to see them compete together.

Nikkan Sports and Mainichi published articles on Kazuki's thoughts after Kokutai, sadly behind a paywall 🥲

Welcome to the Colantotte family, Kazuki! For official this time, as they have signed an advisory contract.
