I was at the Prince Ice World show which occurred on February 24th. One of the highlights of my time there was being able to see Keiji Tanaka once again.
In some ways, things came full circle, which warms my heart tremendously. You see, the last time I saw him live was at Skate Canada 2019, when he had that epic Sherlock Holmes performance. After he was selected to the 2020 Worlds team, I created a banner out of dark blue fabric with the words "Detective Prince Keiji Tanaka" written on it in Japanese in yellow acrylic paint with the intention of cheering him on with it at 2020 Worlds. Of course, that didn't happen. It was sent to a fan at Skate Canada 2021, but I didn't get a chance to cheer him on with it until now! I am certain this is a breach of ice show protocol, but I was in an aisle seat, so I stretched out into the aisle and lightly waved the banner along with his music.
Of course, I have to comment about Keiji's performance itself! I wasn't quite ready for it to happen so soon in the program schedule, so I got a littlenervous!

He admittedly seemed slightly slower to move across the ice than the other performers, but he moved with a certain dramatic flair that anyone who loves Keiji would easily recognize. Just imagine a dramatic Keiji embodying a dramatic phantom of the opera (with no pops or falls!), a phantom totally worth squealing at, lol. Yes, he still looks as handsome as always out there.

It's an admittedly shallow reason for loving him, but I simply had to get that out of the way.
As I also happened to be sitting in a premium seat, I got the chance to buy a flower and give it to Keiji (a small pink carnation). When I got to see him up close, I was surprised that he was wearing makeup (pale foundation and dark eyeshadow). Then again, it would make sense to wear such makeup for the role he was portraying. I was also lucky enough to tell him that I still remembered that Skate Canada performance I mentioned earlier and that I finally used the banner I made for him. He really seemed to appreciate it!

I admittedly haven't been seriously following Keiji's post-competitive career, but I will make more of an effort now! I cannot thank him enough!
