^ Move on? Kimmie is the reigning U.S. champion. Can't she at least stick it out till January and see what happens?
Thank you. As far as Kimmie's weight being connected to her jump problems in the LP lets not go down that road, imo she looks like she is in the best shape of her career and very fit.
Poor Kimmie, I feel bad for her. I think the weight thing depends on the skater though. I too thought Kimmie looked quite bigger when I saw her at SA. But I hate to see her kill herself trying to be as thin as Mao or Yu - Na. but if its just 5 pounds throwing off your jumps I don't think that would be a big deal. Maybe Kimmie needs a coach that specializes in the jumps. She and Alissa need to move on. Its time to try something else.

Oh lord no. That's really an insult to Kimmie- to dare compare her consistency to Alyssa!!
It is very tempting, after hearing the news of Meissner's struggles, to want to push her aside to make room for the next generation. But, as I said before, I'm not quite ready to do that yet. This was only ONE bad showing for her, and it's certainly not the first of her career. I'm willing to give her another chance; stranger things have happened before. There's still two more events left on the calendar: GPF and Nats. Let's see if she can pull together on the former and rally for the latter. Because if she can recover, I think she has the nerves to pull it together for the four minutes. That said, she's gonna have to work harder (or smarter?) than ever before, because Asada & Co. ain't gonna be waitin' on her.
As for weight loss, I think she looks perfectly fine. Maybe even a little on the thin side, if I may be honest.
I think Kimmie is [a]....top-five skater. I believe she is a true podium contender in all the international events she enters. To win gold, however, I think there will have to be failures among her top competitors. I believe it is unfair to expect more of her at this juncture of her career.

Kimmie is just fine. Look at this picture!

She is already thinner and has much narrower shoulders than Mao. However, unfortunately her overall physique is not as beautiful as Mao's. Because her legs are shorter and her lines from the neck to the shoulders are also not so good. Maybe that is the reason why she does not look as beautiful as Mao on the ice.
Why would I care about smiles? If you look at the podium picyure carefully, you can tell that Mao and Ashley are truly happy but Kimmie's smile does not extend to her eyes,as if she is stressed.(I can't phrase it in better)
I don't want to belabor Kimmie's present situation. Why? Because I believe she is working as hard and putting forth as much effort as she possibly can. If her coach or a qualified fitness trainer were to suggest that she needs to lose (or gain) weight, I believe it would be as good as done. She is just that focused and conscientous about her skating.
That being said, go back and analye the photo further. You will note that Kimmie has a very thin leg up to the knee and considerable muscle bulk in the thigh--very similar to Carolina Kostner. Do you suppose that might explain the jump problems with both skaters? (The muscle bulk seems to have developed in both skaters in the last year or so and is similar to those of some women speed skaters.)
She's in. No matter what happens, only Asada, Kim, Nakano, and Ando can finish ahead of her.I think that Kimmie might still have a good chance of making it to the Grand Prix final.
