After seeing these first four GP events, my general impression is that it's still a Kimmie-Mao-YuNa event for the GP final. And while many of you still say that Kimmie can't win unless she skates clean and Mao&YuNa make mistakes - well, how sure can you be that those two WON'T make mistakes? Also, I think that Ando as well needs to skate clean to have a medal chance.
So far, the only CONSISTENT thing this season has been the INCONSISTENCY.
After all, who would have thought we'd see APP STATE over MICHIGAN, TEXAS TECH over OKLAHOMA, and NEBRASKA and MIAMI getting the @#*&$%! beaten out of them?

I've only seen the you-tube videos of Cup of China - tell me somebody, didn't Mao two-foot the final jump of her 3-jump combination?

Yes, she did. I think Mao is still growing and occasionaly forgets that her legs are longer now. Recently it happens quite often to her that she maybe not so much two-foots as taps the toepick of the free leg against the ice. I've read somewhere that it is quite common problem with skaters who recently went through a growth spurt. She should adjust to the new body shape eventually.

Ladies Free Skate - Asada vs. Meissner
After watching the free skate on tv, I was amazed at how close Ashley came to beating Kimmie. Ashley skated very well and seems to have a cute personality that really shows in her skating. This is one of the things that is so lacking in Kimmie's skating. To me Kimmie brings a wonderful competitive spirit to the ice but lacks any kind of charm or musiciality.
Mao has the whole package when she is on. If she can skate clean and confidently I do think she would be hard to beat. Same goes for Yuna. It will be interesting to see Yuna and Asada battle it out in the final. If both are at their best, what a contest it will be. If they mess up, then Meissner or Ando can take the prize.

Well, after seeing the TEP Ladies final in its entirety on a TV screen, I would say that Mao won, but the 20-point margin is preposterous since she bombed the 3-3and 2-footed the end of the 3-jump combo. This means illegal inflation of marks by the judges, which warrants an official complaint letter to ISU on an official Red Dog/Mathman complaint form and an official investigation by the Congressional Committee for International Ice Judging, chaired by Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, the home state for the No. 1 Skating Center in the U.S. in Simsbury. We must protect all skaters from unjustifiably inflated marking. I mean, 178+ for those two performances? Harrumph!
Well did you check the detailed scores for Mao before making this comment above? She got nothing for that triple axel attempt.. and she got -GOE for her second triple loop in her combination.. and many judge gave -2 for it since she two-footed.(It was fully rotated though...) Her third double loop was marked underrotated. However she counted her spin this time.. and didn't make the same mistake she made at Skate Canada on her spins.. so her spin got level 4s. I think they were marked pretty fairly. I really enjoyed Ashly's performances but IMO her scores were about right at where they are.

I loved the look on Kimmie's face when she saw how close Wagner was to her in the standings.
I for one find Kimmie quite cute and charming in interviews. She is not able to bring that personality onto the ice however. But I thought her SP was a big improvement. Her LP stills needs some work.

I agree the judges were quite generous with positive GOEs and PCS in general at TEB, but the biggest reason for that 20-point margin is because Kimmie failed to deliver in the LP by landing only 2 clean triples.
