Hopefully they fixed the ice issues the pairs complained about because Alissa is skating 1.5 hours after the ice resurface. I can't even imagine how her program would go if ice quality was a problem.

Alissa is skating 1.5 hours after the ice resurface? I'll just have to tune in on April 8 and see if I can't catch her program then. It really annoys me that NBC isn't showing this competition here in the States.:bang::bang:

I'm sure you can catch a youtube video of her performance long before 4/8.

What ice issues? I thought I heard rumblings on another post but didn't ask about it as the poster was making all sorts of wild claims. I figured ice issues was one of them.

In Japanese forum,we get information from a person in the rink that ice melts here and there. Can it be a reason skaters who have good SS failed in men's SP?

She's skating before the ice resurfacing, according to the original post unless I read it wrong.

Trankov was the first one to mention in the media what the ice was like after the Pairs SP and his pick went out from under him on their death spiral. That was followed by more falls in both sections of the Dance event than I've seen in a Dance event in five years all together. Then we had four (? as I might have lost count somewhere along the line) aborted lifts in today's Pairs LP and...

Something's not right and the ice does sound brittle to my ears as well. I'm just glad we got through both Dance and Pairs events w/no one getting hurt. W/all of the lifts in both, something really tragic and/or scary could have happened.

Here's hoping it stays that way!!

Hoping the end result to be:

1. Kostner
2. Suzuki
3. Wagner
4. Asada
5. Leonova
6. Gedevanishvili
7. Makarova
8. Murakami
9. Czisny
10. Lacoste
11. Marchei

3 spots next year for Italy, Japan, USA, and Russia! 2 spots for Canada and Georgia!

Hope Kostner wins her first world title. She's just too good to not have one.
Asada/Suzuki for the other medals.
Murakami 4th
Leonova 5th
Gedevanishvili 6th (and continue to improve, hopefully medal in 1 or 2 years)
Wagner 7th
Makarova 8th
Lacoste 9th
Marchei 10th

I also really would adore seeing Carolina win this thing finally. It's been such a treat to watch grow into this lovely and elegant lady out there and as FlattFan said, she's too good to not win one of these.

As for Amelie...As much I would love for her to prove me wrong and end up in the top 10, after hearing her say in an interview yesterday her goal for later today is a four triple program, well... I enjoy her skating, but only four triples at this level isn't going to cut it sadly.

Also Go Ashley and Alissa and Mao and Elene and Suzuki!!

Oh and from my Dad last night after seeing that hideous costume of Mao's...

Who ever managed to put that beautiful girl in such a thing as *that* needs to be arrested!!

It *is* hideous, but I don't think poor Tarasova deserves quite *that* for it. LOL!!

I have to say I'm not particularly fond of Mao's SP costume and feel that the pants costume was much better, but somehow, it doesn't bother me that much because its hideousness is normal in nature, if that makes any sense, as opposed to Tat's unique hideousness. Mao's costume is very much like Joannie's Delilah and Miki's Cleopatra costumes at Vancouver, which were equally hideous. And, if we can agree that Mao, Joannie and Miki's costumes are hideous, we can extrapolate further and say that in fact, upon close inspection, women's costumes in general tend to be categorically hideous.

Within this sea of hideousness, I always considered Tat's hideousness to be unique (which might actually be a merit). But then, when I saw Elizaveta's green slime outfit this season, I saw that Tat's taste might not be so much unique as culturally informed.

Interesting observations about the ice! I arrived Wednesday night and it was really hot for that time of day! On Thursday I noticed it was indeed pretty hot in the arena, as I'd read in tweets before. Basically it was really hot everywhere in Nice. It was hotter in the practice rink that it was outside at night! The temperature has dropped quite a bit though, inside and out.. So hopefully the quality of the ice is better now!

Memo to ISU: no more Senior Championships in Nice. Was Coupe de Nice held at same venue and if so, were there ice quality complaints then?

^^ETA ice quality is more a function of the chiller equipment and refrigerant distribution under the rink's ice surface, followed by general humidity level, rather than the air temperature per se. Properly designed and maintained, the system should be able to be adjusted to compensate for unusually warm air temperatures.
