Ladies Short Program

Yu Na Kim and Binshu Xu were so underscored!
Judges, what are you thinking!!! :disagree: :disagree:

iloveaxel - Thanks for the Youtube of Binshu. She was lovely, and a force to be reckoned with. There should follow a thrilling Long Program. Joannie and Ayssa have their work cut out.

Xu was totally undermarked. I don't know how they can put Mira over her. What were those judges thinking? Mira really has to work on the entrance into her jumps. What the h#$@ is that? It looks so unattractive. Xu was light and airy on her feet and made things looks effortless. She does look a bit juniorish but she is only little anyway. Mira needs some new dresses and a better hair cut as well. Don't get me wrong Mira did okay but Xu beat her hands down and it does not show it in the marks.

I suspect Leung was marked higher than Xu in PCS because she was about 50% faster. Leung had a lot of speed and power. She makes a better impression in person, much like Slutskaya does. On TV (trees), every line flaw and awkwardness is amplified, but in person (forest), speed and power provide a different equation. Depending on one's point of view, they are either compensating factors or over-compensated factors.

The protocols aren't out yet, and they're the basis on which to argue technical. Leung's spins were impressive.

Liverter, welcome aboard and thanks for posting!

Ilovepaydays, yeah, that's quite a look. But even Michelle Kwan experimented with that tights rolled halfway over the boots look. Once.

She has potential and I'm sure she'll improve. But unfortunately IMO at this moment she isn't gracefull nor femenine. And another thing, FS isn't a beauty contest, but also the way you appear is important. It seems that she doesn't care too much about this. Just my opinion. :ohwell:
Anyway I think that in a few years she'll become more mature.

You must be kidding yourself. Although binshu xu is a little thing, she is definintely much faster on the ice than Mira Leung. Mira Leung is so slow and sloppy. I used to like Mira last season, but no more, I don't see any improvement at all. You'll be crazy to think Mira leung has more power. Her jumps are dead end, there's no flow at all. Xu has much robost jumping technique, tight in the air, very good height, and distance, beautiful in-and-out flows. Mira Leung's jump technique is just bizarre.

I have a feeling that the difference will be in the levels scored on some of Mira's elements being higher than Binshu's. Although it may not always be attractive, Mira could have legitimately earned that PB of 52. And although Binshu looked lovely doing it, she may only have truly earned her 48 points based on her element levels and PCS...regardless of how tidy and nice her jump technique may be.

and maybe not, and deserved higher. Let's look at the protocols.

You must be right. I must have been sitting in the arena and imagined Leung's power across the ice. Thank you for setting me straight.

Well, it looks like you didn't dream it hockeyfan228...the judges agreed with you on the PCS giving Xu 20.88 to Leung's 22.64.

Also, Leung scored higher levels on all the other technical elements (minus the sit spin which they both got level 1 on, and the spiral which Xu scored higher). It doesn't seem like such a blatant rip-off for Xu when you consider the levels Leung scored were all just slightly higher, but enough to gain a 4 point lead in the short in conbination the the PCS.

I just have a crazy thought. Bring Binshu Xu to Canada and we're going to have a new number two Ladies' skater right behind Joannie soon.
