Ladies Short Program

If the screen comes back...
Mao Asada - she should walk away with the SP at this point
Her lavender, sparkly dress from the Counter Match

Came back after combo, commentator says "almost a fall"...WHAT?!

3F-3R - 2foot on 3F, fall out on 3R, she's usually SO consistent with this!
3Z - BIG flutz as always, but nice embellishments with arms and such a light landing
2A, very light and pretty with more nice embellishments
Layback - not a single acceptable position until the very nice Biellman
LOVE her spiral sequence this year
Flying sit, her sit position is much better this year
Stumble in SLSS, some really nice positions in it though and very very difficult, maybe too difficult
Final combo spin, pretty slow and terrible sit position,

As the commentator said, "tentative". Everything was sharper at the Counter Match except for the fact that she didn't do a combo...but then again, her combo her was not successful. I would place her below Lepisto...but that probably won't happen.

58.08 - 3RD BEHIND LEPISTO AND HUGHES?!

Well, it's definitely what I would have done. Mao should come roaring back...or maybe Laura will pull off a MONUMENTAL upset.

Wow! The Finnish girl must be in complete shock. Hope she can follow it up with a great long. I really hope Rochette can pull up for a medal with a great LP. I'll be waiting to see if she can pull out the 3-3 she's going to need.

I will remain ticked over the Nakano/Rochette decision for some time. Unjustified, IMO.

Oh and on the Nakano/Rochette judging... I'm guessing Nakano got big scores on her spins or something. One thing to keep in mind is that Nakano is generally always in attack mode, while Rochette did have a tentative short.

Well, she was in 5th last year....maybe Joannie will come back for the gold again!

Ok, I'm officially shocked. Other than Rochette perhaps being one too low, seems like the judges are being consistent....do you agree?

Wow I am amazed the judges would give Mao PCS down that far, even with a flawed performance. She even has lower PCS then Meissner last week which is shocking.

thanks bekalc for the link to the live feed. How did you find it?

Back to the situation at hand.... OMG! I was definetly not expecting this!

Well, I agree with it...she was a lot slower than usual and the spark that made the program good at the Counter Match wasn't there, either.

the surprise is not so much that Asada is BEHIND Hughes, but by who's leading

Someone on another board had it, so I can't take credit for it. But I felt I should come over here and share the wealth!

Asada behind Hughes is stunning as well.

It certainly is, but I think it is COMPLETELY overshadowed by the fact that there is an unknown that leads BOTH of them  x 1 million

BTW, I do like Emily's SP. Very spunky and shows off her personality. Can't say the same for her FS, though.

Yes, I thought most of the scoring was pretty good. Clearly Lepisto and Hughes had the two best and cleanest performances and are 1-2 in the standings. Asada tried the 3-3 so she's next. Totally disagree with Nakano beating Rochette. She shouldn't have been anywhere close to Rochette when they basically did the same combination and Nakano took a fall. Plus, I thought Rochette's program overall was much better-performed.

Actually, Asada being behind anyone surprises me; this is the first i have even heard of the leader and imagined that third would be either Hughes or Nakano (with Asada way in first, Rochette respectable second)...so, wow, wow, wow.
