Ladies Short Program

Sasha's 5.4, Kwan's 5.6

Well, y'know, seems that every year at Nationals, there's always ONE judge who has to be weird..... :sheesh:

He marked down on both Kwan and Cohen:) hmm......

The closest she could come to Kwan was in the warmups, when she nearly ran into Kwan. .

Any wagers on how long this one will be debated?

You read my mind! I don't know the answer, but I really hope this isn't another excuse for a Sasha Bashfest. :p

I say leave Sasha alone.....let's pick on the pairs. There's enough wrong there to carry through to Turino. ;)

This time, Kwan was in midair, about to land a double axel. Courtesy would give Kwan the right of way -- you can't change course when you're in the air -- but Cohen began a jump and the two nearly collided. The crowd gasped and Cohen darted out of the way, avoiding disaster.

Dangit! You beat me to it:P

Warmups are a little like the public session at the neighborhood rink, with near-misses all the time. But any time Kwan has one, Cohen seems to be nearby. At the 2002 nationals, she brushed Kwan in warmups before the free skate, unnerving Kwan and forcing her to take some extra time before she started her program.

The next month, at the Salt Lake City Olympics, the two ended up in the same corner within inches of each other at a practice.

Hah! If that's not reason enough...........seems like near-by collisons between the two happen too often....... :sheesh:

Congratulations Michelle for what sounds like another hot SP win!

Way to go Sasha for keeping it together to second!

All right Jenny for what sounds like a great return out of the shadow of last season!

And whoop-whoop Kimmie Meisner for a strong fourth place finish!

For the LP, I think Michelle is basically a lock. She LOVES Nationals and it shows in her skating every year. Two more to tie Owen's record, Michelle! Piece o' cake!

The LP is Sasha's nemesis and between the back injury and changing coaches, I doubt this year will be any different. But don't give up, Sasha! Give us those magic moments!

Good for you, lovely Jenny! What a terrific comeback! But Kimmie Meissner is young and hungry. I think the battle for the bronze is going to be the real heart pounder.

Skate great, ladies!

:cry:Meanwhile, without meaning to speak for others, I'm sure we'll all miss Angela for Angela, miss the skating that might have been, and offer our thoughts or prayers for the tragic loss of her mother, who no doubt Angela and her family will miss more than words can say.

BTW, check your afternoon ESPN and ESPN2 listings. At least in New York they have Figure Skating listed as being on from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, plus the evening show.

Either way - comparing the dresses I like red on them and they look very nice :) Just prefer Michelle's from the photos since I don't like large sequin.. on anything

BTW not sure if I mentioned this but if MK wins on Saturday she ties a record of 9 Championships

One of the reasons why I like MK's costume is because it's different from the usual Vera Wangish outfits she usually sports....kinda makes me think about the old days :)

OK since pairs is such a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz let's cancel their LP get a big 'ole vat of jello and let Kwan and Cohen go to it. That ought to get the ratings up!  :p

Yeah - good thing about tonight though.. looks as if the first run was not chacked since it did finish about the same time it started.. just shifted over.. a full 2 hours. Just in case - they only show Dance and Pairs and Angela's story. No Shorts or previews of the Ladies or Men's.

see? I wish Michelle's Bolero dress was red instead of blue. I like the model (I saw Marshall's yesterday), but I don't know why, when I heard she was skating Bolero, I had the image in my head of something in red. I agree that it is much better than the clasicall Vera Wang she wears, this makes her look more in character. For Sasha and the Nutcracker, I see something in white, or a pale color. We haven't seen a new outfit the two times she did the program, so we'll see in the free skate.
