Congrats to Madison and Evan on winning the Silver Medal! Unfortunate fall in the RD but it happens. Their FD was glorious! I think it is my favorite of theirs since the Snake. Every element was in sync and as Dick Buttons used to say "they skated as one".

I agree! I love the new FD. And I love that their new programs have quite a few close dance holds!

The new FD is fabulous, and I think will really make them stand out since nobody else is using jazz.
I do hope they rework the music for the RD, I don’t think that program is nearly as strong.

I hope they take the 1970's out of the RD- the 50's/60's stuff was very Paul Drake and the suspicious lady from Perry Mason. Evan in a suit with pocket square was all wrong for the 1970's.

Watching the RD replay on E! was great!
Johnny said he talked to Maddy & Evan about their RD. They said originally it had no back-story, but that did not work for them.
They decided that Evan is a late night talk show host, dancing through the decades. It now makes sense why Evan was being so successful at hamming it up and being the star of the RD!
It also explains the pocket square.

Madison and Evan are my favorite ice dancers. I’ve loved them since my first season watching skating. I generally prefer free dances with a concept or story, but their dazzling free dance this season is so charming I can’t resist. That said, I hope we get to see one more creative concept for the Olympic season.

Not their best outing for the free dance, but with 131.36 in the free and 223.52 points overall it was enough to secure the gold! With their 6th national title, Chock/Bates became the winningest ice dance team at US Nationals! Congratulations

I’m really happy for them! I can’t believe they had to skate sick two years in a row! It wasn’t their best, but still better than last time. Last year, the illness and some mishaps by other teams really cast a shadow over the free dance for me (partly because my expectations had been so high). I’m grateful that Chock & Bates pulled through and contributed to making a thrilling and beautiful event for lucky me to watch from my couch 
I don’t really care for jazz, but they have completely won me over with this FD. Just sparkling with glamor and class. I consider it ironic that another favorite also has a jazzy free skate this season, and I was also completely charmed. I guess skaters of the level of Chock & Bates are irresistible whatever they are skating to
