Mao's New SP

The Wrong Edge Takeoff (WET) (or flutz in this case) is an automatic -1 in the goes. However a skater gets full credit for the base value for the 'attempt'. If the jump has some virtues, for example: height, landing, posture, musical, etc.) the jump could get a +2 in the GoEs. The end result would be a +1 for the jump despite the 'e'.
If this happens, the grading of GOE is incorrect.

If the caller does not call a WET -- i.e., no "e," the judges that notice the WET are supposed to deduct -1 to -3 from the score they would have given without the WET. This means the jump could get + GOE. Any judge who does not notice the WET would not be expected to deduct for it.

If the caller calls a WET -- i.e., an "e," the judges are required to give -GOE, which means the skater does not earn the base value of the jump.

IMO, the software should be making an automatic adjustment to -1 GOE anywhere the judge enters anything higher when an "e" is assigned to a jump.

Nothing wrong with the new sp, I just liked Mao´s last year´s programme a lot more.

I agree with the comment that Mao's skating doesn't look finished. To me, this is particularly true for her spin positions. It's like she's just starting to stretch out each position, and then it's already onto something else, so you rarely get to enjoy any single nice position. I also wish she'd hold her spirals longer, especially the delicious fan spiral, because she actually has the potential to have a stunning a spiral sequence, and make it a highlight of her program, but it's just not quite there.

I like Fumie's music, too bad the jumps weren't there.

Miki looks so miserable, not just after her horrible fall, but also before, and even in the interviews beforehand. I wonder if her lonely summer of tough training in the US did her more harm than good -- after all it is her mental strength and not physical that has been lacking the most in the past.

Mirai seems to be falling apart in her jumps after her second fall. Never saw her fall in a program before. I used to think that she had iron nerves and irrepressible spirit. But she could be like Mao -- one fall at the beginning of a program, and then all the rest falls apart. It might also help Mirai not to "end-load" her second half with all the hardest jumps. She's gotta be exhausted after all those footwork sequences and spiral sequences, to handle all her toughest jumps at the end. Especially given that she's had a history of under-rotating the harder jumps in the second half.
