I find Maria very different from other Russian girls ... she is so elegant, so stylish, very interesting musical choices for a 14 years old little girl (Pina, Vivaldi), and she suits perfectly .. she will be a candidate in 2018 or 2022 medal olympics , she going through growth and manages very well, she will surely dazzle us in subsequent seasons

I'm already a fan  I loved all the three programs above but my favorite is the tango program she used before Vivaldi.

I didn't think her Tango program suited her a lot, she is more a "subtle" skater and she wasn't able to express the Tango feeling very well, while Vivaldi worked perfectly for me, it was elegant and different from the rest, kind of strange but in a good way!

The SP at JGPF is so good and I know it is a potential love it/hate it outfit with very little in between but I loved it. Speaking of which didnt her feathers look really cool in the FS on all of her jumps and spins. I also loved how her FS turned into a tribal feel in the end culminating into her Beillman. Very unique. Love the individuality or at least creativity and willingness to be somewhat different.

She is very interesting and Ill keep my eye on her for sure. Do we have another JWC podium sweep with her,Serafima, and Evgenia. Wouldn't be too surprising but we can't forget Proklova too....this is getting messy at the junior level and soon they will be unleashed into the senior ranks. OMG...the carnage...

To think that all these talented young girls will have to go through bloodbath for that 3 spots. what will happen to Adelina when Tat finds a new favorite?

While I love that title. I think Polina Edmonds might be the next Kostner. It's entirely possible someone from the future returned and edited your title to save you embarrassment.

Anyway....Maria is a gifted skater and I do see some Caro in her presentation. On top of that she seems to be very well rounded too which I think is crucial going forward where I expect consistency the make or break point in Ladies figure skating.

Hey, not fair to put Proklova behind Medvedeva! Medvedeva ended up at JW instead of Proklova because of rules, not because she deserved it. It's still some time until the next season and I don't know how they skated recently, but Proklova is a better overall skater and should have better chances than Medvedeva next season.

Regarding Sotskova, she really is a stand-out regarding the young russian girls. I love her a little "strange" style and choreography  I'm actually really glad the younger 4 have to stay junior for another season, since russia already has Sotnikova, Lipnitskaya, Radionova, Pogorilaya, Tuktamysheva and Leonova in seniors. I already don't know who to root for now

I have some concerns about how Maria's body develops. I see her more like Eliza Tut type.

I notice Polina Edmunds seems to be getting bigger. I saw a recent picture next to Kostner and seems not much smaller. http://scontent-b.cdninstagram.com/...-15/10523592_1476911332552919_408185461_n.jpg

As far as how I see the other Rus current junior girls...

Serafima - I see her being similar to Pogorilya.

Medvedeva - Not sure if she will get above the Gosviani type level. Good but will be hard to be on the "A" team.

Proklova - My favorite by far

I agree that Polina Edmunds is becoming quite tall. However, in recent competition it did not affect her jumps, so good for her!

I can't see any similarity between Pogorilaya and Sakhanovich's skating. Serafima has very developed musical sense. Her presentation is very dance-like, very musical. Anna's presentation is more towards sporty power skater. She is very good jumper but her presentation still need some work although this last season it was so much better than the season before that.

I agree that Sotskova, Proklova, Medvedeva and Sakhanovich are more or less on the same level. I wouldn't say that Sotskova stood out, or that Medvedeva is worse than Proklova, or that Proklova is worse than Medvedeva... they had each some competitions where they really showed their potential, and some that were a bit worse but still pretty high level. My favourite is Sakhanovich and Proklova, but it is very individual choice. Each has different strengths and different weaknesses. And all of them are pretty consistent, which is very important in this strong field.

Love her..... beautiful skaters and already the full package. If any of these girls' jumps will last through pubert, it's hers. That 3lutz/3toe of hers is huge and effortless.

Very interesting interview. She grew 4cm since last season but seems to be handling it well.

I adore her Vivaldi program too! It's a good idea to keep the program for current season.

It worry me that she is not in the list of competitors of the first four JGP events. Is it due to her injury?

I've been watching her JGPF skates a lot the last few days. Such interesting music choices and such a unique approach. Hope she gets thru her injury and growth issues and gets back to form and soon

This is my favorite performance by Maria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI4AI8i_kDA&index=2&list=PL2poRr1qmtXlhyhYHvGPkENg_wTnyOLm3

Incredibly elegant for her age, flexible spins, balletic grace in body movements, refined, classical presentation, magnificent layback spin with smooth transition into beautifully pliable Biellmann, entrancing step sequence with smooth multi-directional changes, wonderful layback of the head during the turns, and nicely mixed with wonderful illusion spins with her head down in a camel position and her legs revolving in a tilted spherical trajectory. Fine leap into a flying sit spin with full leg extension. Erect posture entering and exiting jumps while spreading her arms out with a dramatic flair with her eyes fixed on the audience when finished.

I just found the events that Maria Sotskova is entered in for the JGP but as a substitute. Is she still injured? Does anyone know when she will be able of skate?

ISU JGP Czech Skate 2014 03.09.2014 - 06.09.2014

ISU JGP Nagoya TV Cup 2014 11.09.2014 - 14.09.2014

Her schedule looks kind of rough: skating two weeks back to back. I hope she handles it well.

Maria is listed as a substitute for those competitions you mentioned. She is main entry for Tallinn.

Any news on her current status? Hope she can compete well and qualify to JGP final.
