Marin Honda

The SP is such a shame now, she should easily get medal here :sad21: A great comeback with free but REALLY robbed on PCS :/ I'm so sad for her but hopefully she will learn from this and do better at CoC!

I think she was robbed of a higher placement. Her FS should have been enough to overtake Wagner and Hicks overall.

It's a mystery to me, how Osmond could beat her in the free. The base value of Marin's programme was higher (underrotations included) and she had a clean skate compared with Osmond's three mistakes. Those 60 points in Marin's PCS must be a bad joke - I know she's skated first and is a debutant, but 60 points...

A complete joke. Again the result of clear favoritism and seniority status-based judging. I just hope she doesn't let it get to her and totally kills it in the next GP. :disapp:

Fantastic free skate by Marin!
She should've won LP and medalled overall with honest judging.

Amazing by Marin. I loved how happy she was after she was done :) She was the best skater in terms of interpretation and skating skills. I hope this shows that shes a fighter and can perform under pressure when it comes down to it. Lets all hope she does well next week!

Amazing free skate. I can't wait till she goes clean in both SP and FS in another competition and then we'll see where should be. She's a definitely a fighter.

I'm so frustrated for her. I don't blame her for shaking her head when she saw the score. I was shocked by it as well.

Tremendous FS outing! Well done and congrats! Marin showed grit and courage needed to survive this sport. She won the FS for me.

It is not the same level field as a few years ago, as talented as she is - because she is a threat now, she needs to really fight for it (otherwise give other federations excuse to take her out), and she showed it. In a way the clear undermarking of the scores is not a bad thing, it means next time Judges are psychologically predisposed to reward her higher PCS if she delivers. It should motivate her to fight her way into the seniors just like Wakaba had to do for 2nd straight seasons before getting what she deserves.

Alina had 67+ PCS in her Sr. debut at Lombardia (in an event featured Kostner), let's see how they continue to mark Marin. Otherwise, the gap is too artificial to be discounted when she should lead in PCS among her generation.

Again, newcomer with flawless freeskate robbed because a "favorite" needed to win. Here's Marin's free skate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRPkOGStr40

Personally I think it should have been 135+ under any fair judging panel that isn't biased to putting their politically favored skater first. Keep fighting Marin!! :luv17:

P.S. She didn't just show "grit and courage". She was technically and artisitically flawless, superior to Osmond. I still can't believe this blatant under and over scoring.

Marin was absolutely great! Again, like last year in Yokohama, she recovered beautifully after a troubled SP. She is a fighter and this week she demonstrated it so well with that flawless FS.
I still can't get the PCS though, that 60 for the FS is just so random, even if you consider the fact that she skated first. She has some of the best SS in the world, so a 7.64 for that is completely unjustified. It is really a pity, because with some more PCS (and also GOEs) she really could have had the opportunity to be on that podium.. well, she surely has to work on the SP anyway.
I am just happy that she delivered such a beautiful skate after that shocking SP. I'll rewatch it in the future for sure :luv17:

If you just observed the development, Japanese skaters have traditionally some of the strongest basic SS. And Marin's are possibly the best I have seen for a 16 year old. No, it's not quite Mao or Yuka Sato level but certainly it is already evidently stronger than many of the seniors - none of the current active US senior ladies (Gracie is out of competition) or the Russian girls have anything stronger SS wise. The fact that Wagner got like 8s for SS while Marin get just 7s is a big joke and reflect the judging problems for PCS. I dn't blame the scores, I blame the judging process.
